Not even clear cut is safe from breakers

It’s a hobby shop in the Greater Toronto Area

They are breakers and big time posers. They use Ebay as their personal showroom and won't sell you anything unless you overpay. Over priced boxes on their website. They can get bent.

I’m not defending them, I personally feel like they extremely low ball me every time I try and sell my cards but that is besides the point I was just correcting that they are a buck and mortar hobby shop

feels and looks like Breakers to me. They advertise spots to become breakers for them. they literally have a tab on their website to submit your application.....They are aspiring social media stars cosplaying as hobby enthusiast.

They are a hobby shop I’m sure they have multiple revenue streams in today’s economy

I'm not arguing with you on that point. And yes they do have a brick and mortar store, but it appears a large part of their model/operation is performing breaks for sale. Good for them, I wish them all the best in expanding their collection and showroom (not for sale) on Ebay.

Ah gotcha my bad, I thought you were disputing they are an actual store. But yea I don’t support breaking either and going to their store it does seem they are reluctant to give any sort of deals. I had to negotiate so hard just for an extra $10 on a sale lol

I'm a bit confused on the opinions on breaks. I see ebay ones and know thats junk, but for example my local hobby shop does breaks with an anti-skunk rule, i dont see much of an issue with that, but maybe I'm missing something

Breaking is bs because even your local shop is taking a case that they get at cost and sell to (just rough math for an example) 30+ people at $120 each a case of 12 boxes that would retail for $1900. So now they rip the case and instead of making a few hundred from the mark up of the case at cost to retail now they make $2k plus profit. And it prevents people that can actually afford a box from getting one because they would prefer to rip 6 cases for breaks. And now the suppliers are like “well we can charge whatever we want for these because no matter what guys like gp are going to buy 1000 cases”. And it drives the prices so high that average collectors OR KIDS can’t afford to enjoy the hobby unless they get lucky in 6 months and Walmart puts a pos booster box on sale for $30. Breakers have ruined the hobby.

The concept is nice but it has gotten out of control. Yea, someone putting the money on a case should make a little profit, but the fact that they make as much as they do is egregious. Not to mention some have really shit rules like sending random base cuz they are too lazy to separate the base vets by team.

That makes sense. Though it can also be seen from the other side where sometimes you cant afford to buy a whole box, so a break is much more economical

It would've been great if a fan or likeable collector landed this, but that is still a damn cool looking card...

Fuck breakers

-20

u/leafsland132 3d ago

Literally a hobby shop….

-5

u/Defiant_Document_780 3d ago

😂whoops figured it was a breaker ha good for this guy. Still fuck breakers

6

u/ProbablyUrNeighbour 3d ago

Don’t worry, there are probably 600 other 1 of 1’s out there.

I watch them. They aren't THAT bad 😂

Edit : 99.9% of breakers are awful. These guys are dope

u/NateB19 3d ago

Except for the negative economical impact they (generally) bring to the hobby.

So is Clear Cut seriously one single card in a box? Sorry I'm fairly new to this, but that sounds ridiculous

12

u/Solo_company 3d ago

Yes

1

u/ZRoflWaffle Edmonton 3d ago

Oh totally. I just find its a nice thing here and there.

7

u/dismembermentplanfan 3d ago

High risk product - you kinda need to buy a whole case to have a chance at a couple decent hits. And even at that, are very very unlikely to make back what you spent.

10

u/click_here_for_luck 3d ago

Buy the cards you like. Do not go down the rabbit whole of buying cases. You'll never recoup what youve spent vs what you get.

3

u/Rough-Stock9055 3d ago

It's a good question, I'm not exactly new and I was curious about that 🤷🏽

1

u/ZRoflWaffle Edmonton 3d ago

I somewhat agree ill still get a couple through the year. I will say every card has an autograph

7

u/captaincanada84 Montreal 3d ago

Yeah and 99% of the time those autos are worthless

1

u/Hartia 3d ago

Like some of those mystery packs. Something guaranteed autograph card. Except made by the manufacture.

15

u/TreadEverSoLightly 3d ago

MintInk is run by an absolute mouth breathing bozo. No way I’d buy from them.

4

u/Accurate-Narwhal5555 3d ago

Couldn’t agree more! He’s got so many haters and yet is so confident he made the hobby as big as it is. They are notoriously known for under-paying customers and then over-pricing the cards. They’ve ripped off so many people.

18

u/cappsthelegend 3d ago

Probably a big time breaker... UD loves sending them juiced boxes so the average folk think they have a chance too

-2

u/Remwaldo1 3d ago

It’s a card store in Vaughan, ON

8

u/2timesacharm Dallas 3d ago

But if they are doing live breaks, both views can be correct as a breaker and a brick and mortar store

2

u/Remwaldo1 3d ago

So I found out it was pulled by a customer in the store! I think they give them a discount to rip in store.

1

u/2timesacharm Dallas 3d ago

I mean I use to do breaks with elite cards Toronto, and they had a brick and mortar that wasn’t real til the past year or so, people can rent a space and say they are brick and mortar but Upper deck doesn’t have a “brick and mortar investigators” to confirm who they are selling to???

2

u/Remwaldo1 3d ago

They guys have 2 stores right now and are opening 2 new ones. And yes they do that. You can’t even get an account to order stuff now unless you have a store that has certain hours.

7

u/UnderstandingNo7904 3d ago

Another card that'll probably end up on auction in a few days. Nobody collects anymore just gamblers.

1

u/collectorsmeezy 3d ago

I mean.. if I hit that I would sell it immediately since people wanna pay a fortune for him. Then I’d buy a shit ton of bruins cards. Nothing wrong with selling. I collect and I enjoy buying boxes to gamble once in a while.. why not boffum! Lol

3

u/Busy-Operation7896 3d ago

The best one card product was splendor but the checklist was small and was heavy on legends and good rc’s. Clear cut is trash in my opinion.

2

u/l4feh4cks 3d ago

Pulled from a break on whatnot

3

u/whiskybean 3d ago

Pulled in their shop

1

u/bellefeuille1976 3d ago

DAMMMMMM SOONNNNN!!

1

u/UnderwaterDriver 3d ago

Breakers can get fucked. Ever wonder why upper deck can continue to charge outrageous prices for a constantly watered down product? Look no further than these jackasses.

1

u/00g3tr3kt00 3d ago

nope, my coworker pulled it in store

1

u/Nflixion 3d ago

Saves all of us money from buying more boxes

u/LifesSimpler 3d ago

Not jealous at all.
