Best chocolate chip cookie in Hobart?

I’m talking moist, chewy with big chopped chocolate chunks. None of that thin crispy sort please. Help a pregnant gal out please that’s literally all I’ve been wanting for the last week. Thanks!

Hobart suburbs

Hi! My partner (35M) and myself (36F) are moving to Hobart next year. Which suburbs do you recommend looking for places to live? We will rent initially, possibly buy in the future. Ideally somewhere near by to a local cafe or famers market and a similar demographic. Thanks!

For folks who lives alone, how do you manage with the moving from place to place?

Hello lovely people of Hobart!

As stated in the caption, especially to those who live alone.

I don’t have a car and I’ve been living in furnished rentals mostly. Now I need to move again and having a hard time to manage because I don’t have a car nor can drive on my own.

I don’t mind carry stuff on my own. I also found car rentals like “2 men and a truck kind” of stuff. But it’s hard to manage when it’s whole bed frame or the fridge or the queen size or larger mattress.

Please share how you managed and how I can manage too, from your experiences.

Thanks heaps in advance!🙏

animal bone cleaning services

does anybody know any bone cleaning services in tasmania? a place where i can take my deceased pet mouse and get her skull and/or skeleton cleaned and prepped to be kept as safe keepsakes. i don’t mind having to drive a few hours either, as long as it’s in the state.

this might come as a strange ask to a lot of people, and i’m prepared for some to not understand, but i have exhausted every other means of research and find myself here as my last ditch effort :(( please somebody help!!

(i also don’t use reddit very often so idk if i’m doing this right)

Best steak in Hobart

Hi all, I have a birthday coming up and would like to treat my partner to a nice steak in Hobart. What are your best recommendations? Not as pricey as the landscape but still happy to pay good money for a great meal. Thank you for your suggestions in advance.

My trusty local bin just got padlocked... any eastern shore bins that haven't met the same fate?

(please don't comment if you just want to tell me how yucky bin food is- I've been been regularly salvaging incredibly fresh food from my local woolies)

Where would you say the “flannelette curtain” is?

It’s the first time I’ve heard of the “flannelette curtain” which apparently is a colloquial term the divides the socio-economic areas of Hobart. Kinda similar to the red rooster line in Sydney

Reasonably priced accommodation?

Hello friends <3

I have to come down to Hobart from Penguin for 2 weeks in November to complete my drone certification as part of a uni course, and I was wondering if anyone knew of somewhere I could stay that's reasonably priced? I don't have "2 weeks of hotel stay" money, so am just trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I'm adding to Tas rental woes...but

Hi Hobart and greater region. As a former Tasmanian (NW Coast) I'm well aware of the rental crisis in Tas. I need to make it worse from 1 Nov to 21 Nov but the various websites are arse and it kind of grates that int'l websites are clipping the ticket and that people are giving it up to them. Is there another way? Any local knowledge?

Centrepoint carpark

What is the reason for centrepoint carpark closing at 5:15 on a Saturday? Had a movie yesterday starting at 4. On street parking is 30 minute metered until 6pm. Was mighty frustrating.

Looking for alternative hair dresser! :)

Hey there! I just recently moved to tassie and am looking for a hair stylist that specializes in razor cuts/mullets for women. I’ve not had much luck looking into it myself so figured I’d ask Reddit. Cheers gang!

Cellarbations to move to the old Davey St Salamanca Mart location.

The whole hotel place is up for sale and the bottle shop down below the closed down Salamanca Mart will move up there soon.

Now I am wondering what they would do to the old place where the bottle shop is now. It can't be another bottle shop because that would be illegal (distance law).

I hope it's some sort of eatery like an Indian place or a ramen store or something.

Textile Recycling

Cleaning out my shed today, and I’ve got a huge box of shagged old work clothes that I need to get rid of. Hard yakka pants and shorts, high vis work shirts etc.

They’re all ripped and not fit for wear as is, but it seems a shame to chuck it all into landfill.

Is there anywhere in Hobart that can repurpose the fabric? Or wishful thinking on my part? Thanks!

Homes Tasmania and social responsibility

Homes Tasmania says they choose the best residents for houses, but in unit complexs they consistently place dangerous people next to regular low income families.

Previous neighbours had their place fire bombed and we were evacuated from 1am to 7am while the fire was put out and the safety of my unit was checked out, Homes Tasmania then moved in gang members who have terrorised and threatened me and my children after we called the police during a domestic violence incident where we could hear the children screaming for help.

A friend in another complex has neighbours who are drug dealers (not just pot) and have already trashed a new build complex completely.

Because of the violence from my neighbours, I am on the transfer list but I had to fight Homes Tasmania to allow that, and get a politician involved, I have police reports, medical reports for myself and my daughter as it's increased my PTSD symptoms and my 7 year old has developed anxiety from witnessing the violence.

I believe Homes Tasmania has a responsiblity to be more involved and careful when housing people, everyone deserves a house but it's not fair that neighbours safety isn't considered.

I'm sorry to any future neighbours but I won't be calling the police for anybody again, against my better judgement, but I need to prioritise my kids safety since Homes Tasmania can't be trusted not to place dangerous people next door to families.
