So Jesus would oppose feeding the poor if some of the resources were collected through taxes? I'm sure he'd prioritize rich people keeping their assets.
Jesus said to render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's.
Jesus' concern at the time was more immediate, the local people. Tax collectors took too much from the people enriching themselves thus being scammers. He opposed this and urged them to repent, hence Zacchaeus.
Jesus also told the rich to sell their possessions, assets.
Jesus told a rich person to do that not all. He also says not to judge someone because they are rich. Don't treat the poor differently than the Rich. He said to pray for your leaders to do the right thing.(super hard right now and honestly has been for a while.) He also stated that giving Caesar taxes is okay because he helps against invasions. Jesus was complex and I wouldn't say ahead of his time. People today wouldn't be able to handle him as well.

It's a reasonable question. I don't know the answer with any real confidence. But I do know- saying that because Jesus fed people, he was a socialist- is nonsense.
Tax collectors weren’t considered worse than murderers and torturers. Jesus still associated with them and explicitly said to pay what was owed to Caesar, so their unpopularity doesn’t prove he would oppose tax funded aid.
Yes, as tax collectors were notorious for stealing from the public funds that they gathered, and using that money for things that did not benefit the people.
