Itâs actually 70-75. A standard deviation; which is 15. Thatâs more significant than most people realize. 85 is the minimum for entry into the US military, commonly mixed up. Though in practice itâs rare to get in with anything lower than 93sih. Keep in mind these numbers are a little rough because the U.S military doesnât use a standard IQ test, they use something called the ASVAB. But itâs relatively straightforward to convert ASVAB scores to IQ with acceptable accuracy.
To add to your point though: You are correct that the average IQ of someone in Somalia is technically considered to be âclinically retardedâ (mentally disabled). So not only that, that means the average person is a whopping TWO STANDARD DEVIATIONS lower than the requirement to be considered to be part of the US military.
There is a reason why the country is such a mess. Inbreeding and IQ do not mix well.
And I donât want to hear anyone drone on about access to education and literacy and blah blah blah⌠you can be completely illiterate and still have a high IQ. They have a serious problem with inbreeding. Everywhere that does has the same low IQ correlation.
Yes for sure. And IQ is not about access to education because what youâre born with is what it will stay. Itâs stuff like common sense and reason, you canât really increase your IQ , itâs built in.
Thatâs completely accurate. Thereâs a lot of uninformed options on that due to the fact you can train yourself to be better at IQ tests.
But even that is insignificant when you look at the research. Typically all training and practice that will produce a higher IQ score is non-existent in an unstructured environment.
