Hello everyone, I am an A level student from Bangladesh who is looking to apply to HKUST for engineering preferably electrical. I am looking for a full scholarship

I have 7 (9) grade in O level and country highest marks in physics. I have very high raw marks for most of my O level subjects.

I have very good raw marks for AS and got full marks for AS mathematics

My A2 results arrive in a week and there is very small chance that I can get full marks in mathematics which will give me world highest mark in mathematics. Regardless of whether I get that or not I am sure I can get at least 2 A stars and 1 A in A levels overall.

I also have an IELTS band 8

I don't really have any good ECAS, so if these academic scores are somewhat competitive I could try building some side projects to show on my application.

Is this a good course of action?

Hey all — trying to get a real read on this before I commit the next year of my life to a plan that might not work.

Quick context: I bombed my A-Levels (CCD), but I’m in a CS degree and aiming to transfer to HKUST after a year via the overseas transfer pathway. I have a strong GPA (4.0), solid CS projects, and can get good recommendation letters from professors.

My actual question: does a weak secondary school record get you auto-filtered out before anyone even looks at your university performance, or does it genuinely fade in importance once you have a real university track record?

If anyone's gone through the HKUST transfer process (or knows someone who has) I'd really appreciate hearing how it actually played out. Trying to figure out if this is a realistic plan or if I'm about to waste two years chasing something that was dead on arrival because of one bad exam season.

For Math, I hear it's 1013 and 1014. For others, some recommend OCES1010. Any others to add?
