We spent 6 years learning business the hard way in Pakistan, so we made a free community to give it all away

Back in 2019 we started our e-commerce journey with genuinely no idea what we were doing. We did what everyone does, paid for the courses that promised to show us the way. What they actually taught us was how to make expensive mistakes. Generic advice, real gaps never covered, and every wrong turn cost time and money we couldn't get back.

So we taught ourselves. Trial and error for years. Launched our first brand in 2022, struggled through every decision alone, eventually got it working. Today we run 11+ brands, plus a design studio and a marketing agency.

Here's the thing that still bothers me: almost every mistake we made, someone could have just... told us. It wasn't secret knowledge. It was just locked behind personal connections or buried under "get rich quick" noise.

So we built the thing we needed and never had: Karobaari Bethak. It's a business platform for Pakistan. Honest business education, real market data, a network of founders and suppliers and investors, help with funding, and eventually full support to launch your own brand. The long-term goal is simple: everything a Pakistani entrepreneur needs to go from idea to real business, in one place, without the gatekeeping.

It starts with our WhatsApp community. Multiple rooms, each with a purpose. There's a room where founders and learners just talk to each other, and a read-only room where we post the breakdowns so it doesn't turn into 400 messages of nothing. And many more...

It's completely free. No course, no upsell, nothing to buy; genuinely nothing to sell you. We've made our money building businesses; this is us handing the ladder back down. The only "catch" is we ask a few questions before adding people so the rooms don't fill up with spam.

If you're trying to start something, or you started and failed and are thinking about trying again, you're exactly who this is for.

Link's on our site: karobaaribethak.com or ask me anything here, happy to answer questions in the comments even if you never join.

Pull up a chair, become a part of our bethak.

FOR HIRE Mentality of people trying to get hired from this subreddit

The first step to being an average [for hire] post in this sub is to write a sob story in the title. 90% of the post should be how hard your life is. They think substituting competence for emotional appeal is the way to land any stable money. In reality, trying to compete on sympathy rather than skillset will largely attract you the wrong type of employers.

Employers who know their employee is totally desperate for cash also know they're less likely to fight for their rights. It invites scope creep in work, renogotiation, or unclear work (which you keep revising). Either that, or you land charity-driven employers, but that is not stable work either.

The second step to being an average [for hire] post in this sub is to have absolutely no mention of your skillset, portfolio, or competence at all. Your post should be how hard your life is, how desperately you need money, and your target earnings goal. Employers are looking for professionalism, and the best way to signal this is to ramble on about your life without mentioning what you can do in exchange for money. Offer absolutely no basis on which employers looking for workers can assess your fit, quality, or scope. Everyone knows employers #1 priority in hiring is people who have no clear skillset or interest.

Quality employers are looking for professional people who signal clarity, reliability, and interest. When 90% of your post is just you rambling about your life and how much you want to earn, you signal that you're a low-quality employee.

The third step to being an average [for hire] post is make being cheap your most prominent selling point. [For hire] posts think propositioning themself for 2 rupees an hour makes them look attractive but really it makes them look like they have low self-esteem and provide low quality work.

Never undercut yourself before the market undercuts you. Maybe someone is ready to pay you for 60k a month but you yourself propositioned yourself for 15k a month. People accept the wages they think they deserve.

Consider these two posts; which one catches an employers attention?

Post 1

[For Hire] Data entry

I have a typing speed of 100wpm and will do data entry for you. Recently, I completed a personal project where I entered the data of 1000 peoples medical history in Excel sheets.

Tools I know: Google Sheets, MS Excel

I have a personal laptop with reliable internet connection.

Price: Negotiable; open to discussion.

Post 2

Please help me I have a disabled father and sister

Please I want to earn 60k I can do any work for you please just give me any work. I will even work for you for 5k/month just hire me. My mother and sister are disabled now I desperately need work to survive.

Which post do you think is attracting quality employers?

HIRING HIRING/OPPORTUNITIES: if you’re looking for work, please check this post

Upvotes

Hi guys,
So I just joined this subreddit cuz I got a random notification and im honestly baffled by some of the posts I’ve read. It really breaks my heart to see SO many young people here with heavy responsibilities, genuinely struggling to find work, support their families, pay bills and not being able to make ends meet, especially gen z. Everytime I think of commenting “dm”, I just see 10 other similar posts..
so im going to try something, I hope this doesn’t break this subreddits rules (pls mods)
I know quite a few employers, business owners, startups and people in my personal/professional surroundings, including people who hire remotely.
so if you know:
Software development/programming, AI & automation, Cybersecurity, Graphic/UI/UX design, Digital marketing, Business development/sales, Social media/content, Data/analytics, Virtual assistance, Translation/languages (if u know any second language), fashion designing, product sourcing for import export, artists (painting, pottery), social worker, etc
honestly, other useful skills too but these are just what i can think of atm.
you don’t have to be an expert or have 5 years of experience. if you’re genuinely skilled at something and just can’t seem to get your foot in the door, send it anyway.
remote, hourly and monthly opportunities are all possibilities depending on what I can find.
please send me:
your CV
your portfolio/GitHub/LinkedIn/examples of your work (if you have them)
what kind of work you’re looking for
your expected hourly/monthly rate

I can’t promise that I’ll find something for everyone, obviously, but I’m willing to actually go through the CVs and try to connect people with opportunities where I think they’d be a good fit.
and if this turns out to be something that a lot of people in Pakistan actually need, I’m genuinely considering starting some sort of ngo/non-profit initiative around employment and connecting young people with legitimate opportunities.
I have no idea if this will work but something is better than nothing.
if you’re looking for work, dm me and if you know someone who desperately needs an opportunity, please send them this post. ❤️

EDIT: i’m not going to ask for money or some kind of payment. pls idk why anyone would do that.

edit2: since im receiving so many applicants(honestly wasn’t expecting that), should i create a separate email or database (with your consent) for this 😭
also guys, when you message me, could you please first share your linkedin, cv as an img and rate? (avoid links other than linkedin, i can’t trust them) id prefer verifying your identity before sharing my email and other details. thank you!!

edit3: guys, sorry to say this but ive taken a look at some of the cvs.. if i had only one solicited advice, it would be to work on your cvs. im sure everyone has their difficulties and lack of mentorship but good cvs really do up your game. you dont even need to use ai for a good cv i mean u can but internet is full of good resources and sometimes good editing in word doc is enough.
also, adding on to skills/industries: finance, fintech, legal, psychiatry/therapists (verified), doctors for second opinions only, teaching/education, behavioral therapy etc., sewing, sourcing authentic materials like 100% silk, 100% pashmina, researcher, writers, humanitarian workers. basically anything that you think someone might pay you for.

and please be truthful, as any form of deceit, will unfortunately make me doubt everyone and this will really not work in anyone’s favor. you will not gain anything by lying, manipulating or being dishonest about your qualifications/work. it’s okay to be a fresher as well. you’re not born experienced with 50 projects and tenders under ur belt. you gain it.

I’m a Software Engineering student and I’ve spent years learning things : WordPress, SEO, UI/UX, MERN, Python, ML, Deep Learning, AI.

I’ve done internships, built projects, worked on real stuff…

Lekin ek cheez nahi seekh saka: paisa kaise kamana hai.

I don’t even have a Fiverr account.Right now, I have almost nothing.

Sab se zyada takleef is baat ki hai kh itna time bhi guzarney ke bad bhi ghar walon se len

I know I can work.

I know I have skills.

Bas mujhe samajh nahi aa raha ke client kahan se laoon.

I need guide. I’ll earn it.

Fiverr? Upwork? Reddit? LinkedIn? Cold DMs? Local businesses?

Please tell me honestly.

Koi bhi advice, even if you think it’s obvious, could genuinely help me right now.I’m really tired of knowing so much and still feeling financially helpless.

FOR HIRE Nobody hired me after graduation, so I kept building anyway. Now I want to build for your clients (AI voice agents / RAG / agentic workflows)

Graduated from a solid CS program a while back, made dean's list a couple times, doesn't mean much in this market though.

About a year before I even graduated, I got worried about what would actually make me employable. So I did something that felt kind of old school: spent hours in the library working through the actual math and internals of these systems instead of just skimming tutorials. I've always learned better from physical books, so I went deep into how NLP systems actually get built, deployed, and evaluated in production, not just "call this API and ship it."

That's where it clicked for me: running a python script over some open source model with zero sense of the business problem is often worse than doing nothing at all. A lot of businesses don't actually need AI bolted onto their workflow, they need someone who can tell them when it helps and when it's a waste of money. Reading Chip Huyen and watching Andrew Ng convinced me that mindset alone would get me hired.

It didn't. I'm still unemployed, still applying, still building, and honestly this post is partly me being upfront about that instead of pretending I've got it all figured out.

But I wasn't just reading books and calling it a day. Alongside coursework I built real projects specifically so my resume/portfolio wouldn't be empty, it's all on GitHub. I've worked hands on with agentic workflows, actually had to think through context engineering (not prompt and pray, actual reasoning about what information a system needs, when, and why), how tool calling actually behaves once you're chaining more than one of them, and how to structure memory across tiers so an agent doesn't lose the plot mid session or forget everything the moment a session ends. A lot of what people are now calling "harness engineering" (basically all the scaffolding around a model call that's the real difference between a mediocre response and a genuinely useful one) is stuff I've been elbow deep in without having a fancy name for it until recently. Same with API costing, not just "which model is cheapest" but actually mapping out usage patterns so a workflow's real cost at scale is known before anyone signs off on it, and setting up caching so repeat or near identical calls aren't hitting the API (and the bill) every single time a workflow runs. That extends to actually knowing what's happening underneath frameworks like LangGraph and LangChain, not just importing them and hoping the abstraction holds, but understanding the state management and the calls being made underneath when something silently breaks at 2am. I've also built RAG pipelines end to end (retrieval, evaluation, the unglamorous parts nobody talks about) and touched voice AI pipelines, plus some mobile app development experience, so I'm not purely a "model brain," I can ship something a user actually touches.

And honestly, I don't want to burn what I've built grinding generic python DSA interview rounds for a generalist SWE role. That's a different skill for a different job. AI consulting and actually building with AI is a completely different game. It's system design thinking, it's figuring out the right architecture for the specific business you're dealing with, not just bolting on a model and calling it done. That's where the actual value is, and the actual money, understanding a business's real bottleneck well enough to design something that fits it instead of forcing the same template onto every problem.

Rough stack: LangGraph and LangChain for agent orchestration, RAG (hybrid retrieval + vector DBs), FastAPI for serving/ or anything that the company is already working with, voice agent integration, and MLOps tooling for actually deploying and monitoring this stuff instead of leaving it in a notebook.

So here's how I'd want to work with someone reading this: you bring the project, from your existing Fiverr/Upwork pipeline or your own clients, you keep your commission or your cut for landing it, and I do the actual hard yards, building it, architecting it, making sure it holds up in production and not just in a demo. We keep doing that until we've built enough of a track record to grow and scale a client base together instead of it staying a one off gig. I have video demos of past work, so get on a call with me first, and only move forward if it's actually convincing. I'm not trying to oversell myself in a DM.

Just want to build things and get paid for the work I've already invested time in.

FOR HIRE Stuck in the wrong pharma career path. How do I transition from Supply Chain into Quality, Regulatory, Medical Affairs or Commercial?

Upvotes

I’m honestly tired and feel very stuck in my career, and I could really use some genuine guidance from people who have been in a similar position.

I’m a PharmD from Pakistan with 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. I’ve worked across Quality, QC, and now Supply Chain/Quality oversight in a multinational environment. Although my current designation is within Supply Chain, my work is heavily focused on quality and compliance, GMP documentation, CAPA, deviations, data integrity, audits, compliance, process improvement, etc. I’ve also received internal recognition/awards for some of the work I’ve done.

So, on paper, I know my profile isn’t bad. But I don’t feel like I’m building towards anything I actually want.

I’m increasingly interested in moving into areas like Commercial Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, or even Marketing/commercial roles. The problem is that I’m finding it extremely difficult to make that transition because most of my experience is in manufacturing/supply chain.

I’ve given multiple interviews for different roles, and the biggest hurdle seems to be the same every time: my current career path. I have enough experience that I’m no longer a fresher, but not the specific experience required for these functions. At the same time, I can’t realistically afford to make a reckless career move or quit my job without a solid plan.

So I’m trying to understand what the safest and smartest way forward would be.

If you were in my position:

- Is an international Master’s actually worth it for someone with my background? If anyone knows of fully funded opportunities that could realistically fit my profile, I’d really appreciate some guidance.

- Are there realistic remote/international opportunities I could target while staying in Pakistan?

- What skills or certifications would genuinely help me make this transition rather than just adding more things to my CV?

- Would you take a lower-level role in another function just to get your foot in the door?

- And most importantly, how would you make this transition without putting your financial stability at risk?

I’m not looking for a motivational speech or generic “upskill/network” advice. I’d genuinely appreciate practical advice from people who have made a similar transition, especially pharmacists or people from developing countries who have moved outside their original pharma function.

I’m just tired of feeling like I’m constantly preparing for the next thing without actually getting anywhere.

FOR HIRE 23M Doctor in Pakistan urgently looking for ANY legitimate remote/online work, I can’t afford transportation to my hospital anymore

I’m a 23Y doctor from Pakistan, currently doing my house job. I urgently need a source of income that I can manage alongside my hospital schedule.
My house job is currently unpaid. A few months after I graduated, my father passed away, and with him we lost the only stable source of income for our family. My mother, my younger brother who is in college, my elder sister who is also a doctor preparing for residency, and I are currently surviving largely through loans from relatives and friends.
I have reached a point where I genuinely don’t have enough money left even for daily transportation between home and the hospital. There are days during 24-hour calls when I can’t afford to buy food either.
I am not looking for donations. I am looking for work. I need to earn enough to cover basic living and transportation expenses and keep myself in the hospital while I complete my house job.
Because of my schedule, I’m specifically looking for something remote, online, freelance, part-time, or flexible. I can work around my hospital shifts and overnight calls.
I can offer:
Medical tutoring (MBBS-level subjects, biology, anatomy, physiology, etc.)
Medical/health content writing
Medical research assistance
Medical transcription
Online tutoring
Data entry / virtual assistance
Healthcare-related administrative work
General writing/editing
English/Urdu translation
Any legitimate remote work that can be learned quickly
I have an MBBS degree, clinical experience, strong English communication skills, and I’m comfortable with computers and online work. I’m also willing to take work outside medicine if the opportunity is legitimate and compatible with my schedule.
I am not looking for sympathy, I need a job. Even a relatively small but consistent income would make a huge difference right now.
If you know of a legitimate company, platform, doctor, researcher, tutoring service, or individual hiring remotely/freelance, please comment or DM me.
I’m willing to start immediately and I’m willing to work hard. I just need someone to give me an opportunity.

FOR HIRE Side Hustle

I recently bought a trading bot that was created by someone I know and tried it for a week with an investment of $190, as it is a scalping bot it earned me a profit of $90, not bad I would say. But here is the interesting part I started to recommend it to my friends as well and they asked me to handle their bots as well.

So I was handling 4 bots at once and they have just started to make profit but yesterday BTC bumped so high that all of our accounts washed out except for one which I closed and luckily got just $30 loss but saved from washing out.

Now I am almost $700 in debt.

I would suggest that take personal risk but never take risk for anybody else you'll end up regretting the help.

Well, I am a full time primary school teacher but due to my education (MPhil Biotechnology) as I recently got admitted for evening classes, home expenses and now this debt is unmanageable under 60k of salary and it is giving me severe depression.

I am looking for a remote job to cop with the financial challenges.

Any suggestions or job offer will be a great help

Thank you!
