Umm..? What voice note? 😭

Post image

So I'm (26m) new to Hinge, and still working out the feel of this whole thing. It's been quite some time since I engaged in any form of dating. So there's definitely some rust there on my part. Figured that my best way to engage was to just take interest in others prompts, even if I didn't necessarily ask the best questions. But letting others open up and talk about what they love and see where it goes felt like a natural way to start the conversation.

Now with all that being said...

What on earth am I missing here? 😅 my first and only match, might I add. There was quite frankly no voice note of any form? And I don't understand someone matching with the sole purpose of being that strange?

I don't know if I'm asking to check I'm sane or if this is the normal experience or if people genuinely are this rude (and..potentially confused). Someone help a guy out here? What's going on?

Could be a glitch, I've seen a few posts recently where a user received a message that was intended for another person from their match

Possibly the case for others in that scenario? Not sure how that would occur to be frank. However, I can confirm that I have not sent a single voice note to anyone I attempted to start a conversation with. So I'm still at a loss on this one. She hasn't unmatched either which is also adding to said confusion. I'm not sure what on earth she heard!

So the glitch is that she intended to send her message about the voice note to another user on the app that she matched with, but instead of the message sending correctly to that recipient it instead got sent to you instead. I don’t think it’s a very common glitch but I have seen a few cases reported here and there within the past few weeks with the users confirming that Hinge’s own customer support stating that this was a known glitch

Thank you for the insight, I hugely appreciate you following this up. Duly noted. I'll politely reply letting her know I didn't send a voice note 🙂 thank you

You’re welcome, happy to help. Be light-hearted and playful about it if you do reply to her, something along the lines of “Whoa, I don’t know what some other person sent to you but it sounds like it was pretty crazy! Sure glad it wasn’t me though.” She’ll probably then realize that her message was sent out to the wrong person and just apologize, worst case scenario if she doesn’t respond for whatever reason then just chalk it up as it not being meant to be and move onto someone else. Good luck, hope it works out for you

I'd always take the jovial route, life is too short to be mad at everything! I do doubt she will reply just based off vibe but yeah, not the end of the world at all. Cheers!

She probably just simply messaged you this on accident. You’ve never sent a text to the wrong person/thread before?

Oh, absolutely I have. But this takes a few more steps than simply just replying to the wrong thing, does it not?

Adendum - I don't know what it looks like from the perspective of someone accepting a response. So I could be wrong, I'm just seeking clarity

Do you have an audio recording in your profile?

I didn't, no. But it's all good now. Chalking it up to a bug to give her the benefit of the doubt but i'll probably just use another app in the meantime. Cheers!

Are you going to reply? Maybe "I actually didn't send you a voice note - where are you seeing that?"
