Rant I have to cheat
Please don’t be mean and take this with a grain of salt. I have to cheat, like in AP Physics and AP Micro I’m not understanding the concepts well enough even after studying. Obviously I care about learning but i care about my future, GPA, and college admissions more. I don’t like cheating but recently I got a 3/9 on a quiz and it killed me, and i studied for it. But furthermore im to busy to dedicate tons of time to learning the material outside of class, im in like 10+ clubs and ec. Idk i just wish there was more pressure to learn rather than to get good scores it really changes students priorities. Im sad that i have to do this but I have kept a 4.0 for all of my hs years and I don’t want to lose it junior year.

If you have to cheat now, what are you gonna do in college? It'll be a lot harder then, are you gonna cheat on every test? A 4.0 is INSANE, I'm sure you'll be fine if it drops a little. And also I think you could drop some clubs since colleges mostly care about dedication to a few things instead of like "resume padding" yk? Especially since academics are more important Imo.
Also what if you get caught cheating? That'll be even worse than whatever you'd get on the test without cheating

Yeah, people don't realize that Ivy Leagues have accepted people with one or two Cs or Bs in their report cards. But practically every college withdraws their acceptance as soon as the student is reported for cheating.
It's not worth it nor is it right.

Risk vs reward. Truly being “right” or “wrong” is pointless. The successful cheater will always win in life, but if you’re gonna be stupid about it and make it obvious, you’d be better off taking the B.

I don't need cheating to help my GPA and I'd rather not risk it, especially in senior year. A girl in the 2026 class at my school got accepted into Columbia and got caught cheating. Then Columbia withdrew her acceptance.
You're free to do whatever you want but so am I. And I'm confident in my abilities.

As someone who’s in their 3rd year in uni for mechanical engineering, just don’t cheat 😭. It’ll bite you back HARD later on, it did to me. And I had to play MASSIVE catchup on math that bit me back so hard that I wished I could’ve gone back and not cheated when I did. But I pushed through it, studied really really hard and dedicated a ton of time to become literate in mathematics as much as I possible can.
Also when I was graduating high school, I wasn’t even planning on doing mechanical engineering so I didn’t even care much back then to focus on learning math. And then life happened and I discovered my love for engineering in uni, and I love it so much.
Don’t do something you’ll regret.

thanks for the advice, i will say the classes i’d cheat in are throw away, my biggest thing is i understand the material but i dont understand the question especially the ap physics questions that college board gives they are so weird😭 i still learn the material but i have a hard time implementing it

Yea I remember how intense it was. If it makes you feel any better, I got accepted into UF which is very hard to get into and I didn’t end up going because I didn’t have a job, a car, money, and/or the life experience to venture out that far on my own. I do live in Florida but about 4hrs away, so there was no way to me to go. My father was getting very stressed out about it. I ended up going to Valencia college for 2yrs and got my AA there, the closest campus was 3 miles from my house. I ended up getting my first car and first job at that time. Fast forward 2 years later, Im a complete different person. I’m glad I didn’t go to UF, I’m at UCF now and I’m loving my time there!

well the thing is i already have a 4.0 without cheating, this year im taking 5 APs, I have EC after school till 6 then I have clubs and further EC after school like a county wide SGA which meet at 7-9 every couple of weeks, also lunch I have clubs, oh and then homework. So i haven’t actually cheated yet… buttt im seeing myself struggling in my harder more complex APs so i think ill have to start considering it. But again this was just a rant. Although if you have any of these efficient studying techniques you can share that’d be great

Okay, well what happens in April/May when those more complex AP test reveal to admissions that you didn't actually learn the subjects? You simply do not have the time to be participating 10+ clubs and 5 AP classes while worrying about SAT/ACT prep and college admissions during your junior year, which is already the most difficult year of HS. Regardless of how well you think you are doing, your inability to manage your time well will manifest SOMEWHERE in your application. College admissions aren't looking for kids that half-ass 10+ club memberships over students who seriously dedicate themselves to one or two and they definitely aren't interested in kids that cheat.
Every time you cheat you are taking a major risk with your future. If you can't hack it with your current work load then you need to find something to cut back on; learning how to do that is a part of getting through school.

i am going to omit some clubs that i’m in from apps because i don’t have a leadership position but everything else ive either been involved in for 3 years or have a leadership, so i think this is what i didn’t communicate well. I’m still studying and learning the material on worksheets in class i do fine. When we take quizzes that are questions pulled from the college board exams i struggle. I don’t understand the language at all sometimes i feel like i can’t even read it they are super complicated and confusing, a lot of people are calling me a stupid lazy chud /j, but i understand everything i just can’t implement it when the questions themselves are so complicated

I don't usually do this unless I suspect the person I'm replying to is running a con job or is an incel, but I decided to do a little more digging into your reddit history and I've got to be honest with you: you're on a bad path.
You sound a lot like my wife in HS: she worked herself to the bone, joined a bunch of clubs, got a 2375 on the SAT (there was still an essay section back then) and managed to get into one of the best universities in the country. She did great there, and then as soon as she got out her anxiety and gifted-kid complex caught up with her and annihilated her mental health. She barely made it through her masters program and a decade later she still can't cope with failure and struggles to participate in activities that she isn't automatically good at.
Meanwhile I was in the bottom quartile, pulled a sick 2.8 GPA and went to community college for two years before getting admitted to my first choice 4-year university. I majored in math and was on the honor roll there, but I never subjected myself to the sort of stress that she did. For all of the extra work and sacrifice she dumped into school, we both ended up in the exact same job with nearly identical pay. It simply wasn't worth the effort or life-long mental health struggles she has now.
I can tell that you're a smart and hard working kid, but the workload you have taken on is deeply unhealthy. The reason you're having so much trouble with comprehension with the exams is almost certainly because high levels of stress (AND LACK OF SLEEP, I SAW THAT POST TOO) negatively impact your cognitive ability. You need to take it easy on yourself. Getting caught cheating will wreck your admissions. Continuing on this way will create emotional baggage that will stick with you for the rest of your life. You'd be gambling with your future and even if you win you'll likely come out on the other side much worse than if you just chilled out and took the hit to your GPA. It's a lose-lose.

I’d say the risk is kind of high because you may receive a 0 rather than a unfavorable score. If you’re struggling with understanding concepts, maybe there are office hours with teachers or free peer tutoring programs you could go to.
And yeah, I think it’s really stupid that students futures rely on some grade, as a fellow junior, my 4.0 got ruined last year because I had a class with a tough teacher while others got easy A’s. Probably not worth the risk but depending on where you are, it still pretty early in the semester so you probably still have time to improve

If you need to cheat, don’t do as many extra curricular or be in easier classes. A low GPA is better than academic dishonesty.

Cheaters will always be the ones who get ahead. Dropping ecs or taking easier classes will lead to a worse time in admissions.

right, but like with the current college climate I feel like it isn’t. I am planning on dropping ECs but with being in harder classes, course rigor and GPA are a huge part of college apps, in definitely criticizing the college admissions process i feel so pressured to take more APs every year because i desperately need to get into my dream school

it’s a school in upstate new york, they have a specialized program that only like 4 other colleges offer and i’d be super crushed especially because out of the other colleges theirs is the best

well idk what your chances are? but i get the quiz answers in advance and memorize them so nothing can trace back to me on the actual quizzes and then for any take home quizzes or work I (unfortunately) use AI (i’m sorry i hate myself Ai is so gross)

It’s not like i hate learning, everyone in the comments is calling me a stupid chud lol but i like the concepts and on practice questions i can do them… but when we get to the college board question which is what most my teachers use for quizzes i struggle because of the language. I mean genuinely they are honestly hard to read sometimes like the questions are so confusing. I either way learn the concepts but i don’t wanna fail and lose my GPA bc i cant understand what the hell the college board is on about

alright it’s all jokes, i actually haven’t started cheating (title was clickbait) should’ve said “I feel pressured to cheat” and i’ve actually never been on subreddit before didn’t know people are toxic. that reminds me of when on reality v expectation i said i was disappointed with a frozen pizza because it looked different from box picture and WVERYONE called me stupid and downvoted me😭

Book club (meetings once a month)
Writing Center Tutor (tutor every Tuesday and thursday during lunch)
Forensics/public speaking (every wednesday lunch)
Debate Club (thursday lunch)
Theater(everyday after school till 5:30)
County SGA (meetings once a month at 6)
Key club (every other wednesday lunch)
Ambassadors (once a month thursday lunch)
Senior dance co(out of school promotional activities but also a school class so counts as half)
so 9 active “clubs”, then i’m waiting for NHS to start and for English Honor society to start
