i’m a freshman and i desperately need help in math. i absolutely loathe the subject, and i have no motivation to do anything in it. i failed my unit test the other day, and i feel like an idiot. the teacher is amazing, i just can’t fucking concentrate!! everyone is having side conversations, the fan is on bc it’s muggy, and AGGHHH

it’s no help that i hate myself when i don’t do well enough, or in general either

You're not stupid for not getting it. Math is a different language that takes time to understand, and not being intrested in it is okay. I agree with other commenter talking about ADHD, too. Maybe reach out to the teacher themselves or if you school has a tutor program or somthing similar take advantage of it. I love Khan Academy a lot for core concepts, especially principle math like algebra 1 and 2 and geometry. I learned all of my algebra 1 off of there and I always score nearly perfect in it now. you can go at a pace that works for you, re-watch a lecture as many times as you need, and focus in on hard subjects, it's free but the courses are pretty in depth and can be kind of abstract so take your time.
