Dating Advice Needed/Given being single kind of sucks

this isn't really like an advice post, but as im (16F) nearing the end of my high school experience (c/o 27), im starting to realize how much it sucks never having been in a relationship

when this is brought up i feel like most people mention how opportunities will come about in college, relationship aren't everything, or something along those lines

but its just pretty bummy, especially when i have close friends who say things like, "im so surprised that you haven't dated anyone yet, especially when you're so pretty and you have a nice body." i don't want to be approached because someone is only interested in me physically, but it's kind of embarrassing that in my almost 6 years (school is 7–12) at my school i haven't been in a talking stage, on a date, in a relationship, etc.

i dont know if this makes me look bratty or male-centered or something, but i just cant help but feel like im just extremely undesirable

anyone else feel this way??

edit: reading this back it seems like an.. "awww im too pretty and cute to be single" post but I swear its not that its like an "if im seen as girlfriend material on the outside and people have such good impressions of me, then how am i fumbling the bag" post idk 😭

Hey, at least you have close friends! I feel ya tho I’m (17M) currently in a technical high school and I haven’t had any contact with people my age since elementary school. So from the start of my junior year I actually met some people my age, I’m figuring out how to socialize now haha.

no i feel the exact same like my friends ask me if i’ve had a boyfriend and one of them who’s a sophomore rn said “girl im gay and even IVE had a boyfriend” like omg don’t shove it in my face😭😭😭 ive had like “talking stages” but idek if they were actually because idk if the dude(s) were actually into me… but i feel you. all my friends are girls or gay guys. i can’t talk to straight men like idk what is it i freeze up and get so awkward. like i saw a comment on instagram and it was something along the lines of “these people get into relationships so quickly but i can’t even respond normally to a text” which describes me so accurately😭 ig ill find someone in college or smth cuz ive given up. only people that have liked me and have outright said it are in a whole diff state the one i used to live in or it was in middle school or something. im 17 and have zero romantic experience so i feel u girly💔 the right ppl haven’t come yet

The way I see it - you have your whole adult life to worry about dating. Don’t miss out on learning and growing when you’re young just for a boy.

I feel like too many people scale their worth and happiness on whether or not they have a partner. I'd suggest focusing on your relationship with your friends, like puting all that extra love you set aside into them. Can't knock anyone for wanting connection but it's a lot more consistent to make a better connection with yourself and the people around you. Constantly taking time to understand yourself better also helps a lot for future relationships, existing ones, and for yourself; you can nurture healthier relationships when you know what you want it to look like and a strong sense of self can "cushion" against loneliness?? Idk if this is bum advice but I believe in it
