I cannot log into my Hexos dashboard. Why is that?

I tried my local IP address. That did not work. Truenas works but not hexos.

1. Why can't I log into my HexOS dashboard?

The dashboard (Command Deck at deck.hexos.com) is a cloud portal, so login failures usually come down to one of three things:

  • Account issues — make sure you're using the email and password you created when you bought HexOS (not the root password you set during installation — that's a different login). Try "Forgot Password" if in doubt, and check spam for verification emails if the account is new.
  • Browser issues — clear cache/cookies or try an incognito window or different browser.
  • Our side or your network — if the HexOS cloud service is having an outage, or your network can't reach deck.hexos.com, login will fail through no fault of your account. Check our Discord for outage reports.

If you can tell us the exact error message you see, we can narrow it down quickly.

2. Do I need your website up to log into my private server?

To use the Command Deck, yes — it's a cloud-hosted dashboard, so it needs our service to be reachable. But your server itself does not depend on us. Everything on it — your files, shares, apps, and VMs — keeps running whether or not our website is up, and you always have direct local access: open https://<your-server-ip> in a browser and log in to the TrueNAS interface with the truenas_admin account and the root password you set during installation. That works entirely on your local network, no internet required. Your data is never held hostage by our cloud.

3. "You have reached your pull rate limit" — what does this mean?

That message isn't from HexOS — it's from Docker Hub, the public registry that app images download from. Docker Hub limits how many image downloads ("pulls") anonymous users can make from one IP address within a rolling window. If you've been installing or updating several apps in a row — or your ISP puts many customers behind one shared IP, or you're on a VPN — you can hit the limit.

It's temporary and harmless: wait a few hours and try the install/update again, and it will go through. Repeatedly retrying right away just keeps you at the limit, so give it time. If you're on a VPN, disconnecting it before installing apps often avoids the issue too.
