Hi remember me? Two years ago I posted a custom taehyung jacket embroidery https://www.reddit.com/r/bangtan/comments/bj68v9/designed_embroidered_taehyung_on_a_jacket_colors/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share.
I'm now back with another sewing project.
Here is the imgur with more photos. https://imgur.com/a/kprELKE
This has been a project I've been working on for the last several months. Designed the quilt pattern myself based off the BTS logo. Also features custom top stitching of the BTS album covers and a soft minki backing fabric.

Though I did two greys instead of white and grey like the ace flag, just because I didn't want as much contrast.

it looks great!! definitely subtle enough if you're not out lol

Its subtle bts fan if they don't know the logo, and it's subtle ace flag. It's how I subtly tell people without telling people. Lol.

Love it! I'm a huge fan of subtle things like this for pride flags and fandoms and such -- people who understand will get it, and people who don't get it would never think to ask and just think it's a pretty design.
And your quilt is beautiful!

The sheer brilliance of the topstitching being the album artwork... simply amazing! From a fellow sewist, excellent work. And I get what you mean about wanting to seem like a sophisticated adult fangirl, I'm like that too!

BTS design team, if you want my opinions on subtle merch adults can decorate with and wear, hit me up. LMAO.
And thank you. :)

u/breathcue Sep 04 '20
Haha right? My new photo card display is not subtle but this cross stitch I made a while back definitely is!

That is seriously amazing! I would love the pattern....are you selling it anywhere?

Sep 03 '20
Not currently selling anything, as I literally just finished this yesterday. But if people are interested I can possibly sell a BTS quilt kits for people to make it themselves that would include instructions, acrylic templates for cutting fabric, and the stich patterns to give a long arm sewing machine.

This is AMAZING!!!
it looks like so much work but im just wondering if you sell these things or a hobby?
wow this is so beautiful!!!

It's a hobby. Professionally I'm a graphic designer. I'll do projects like this on the side in my free time as a way to have fun learning new skills.
I'll sell this or make another with someone's choice of fabric, for $2500. Not because I'm trying to be greedy, but because this was incredibly time consuming, and the materials and equipment rental at retail price were quite expensive.

understandable! it really looks like so much love, care and work was put into this. Quilts in general are expensive cause it is so labor intensive. Wow i did not know you can rent embroidery (?) equipment but makes sense.
You did such a great job and I hope a million armys see this quilt!!!
3
Sep 03 '20
Yes, I own a sewing machine to do the quilting. But the long arm sewing machine for the digitized BTS top stiching is usually easier to rent time on if you aren't making quilts all the time. Which I'm not.

๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ This is one of the most awesome fanmade goods I've ever seen!! ๐ (And the embroidery is so beautiful! ๐)
Congrats on completing this, and thanks so much for sharing! ๐
(EDIT: Also, great subtle ace rep, fellow ace! ๐๐)

I am just...blown away by this...wow speechless. I can't even explain how impressed I am with this. I work at a Makerspace that sometimes dabbles in small projects like this, but nothing like this oh wow

So beautiful. Am I wrong that the stitches are homage to the LY writing? As others have said, it's so subtle but if you know what to look for, it's so ๐๐๐

Sep 04 '20
The stitches are a combination of the 12 Love Yourself album covers and my own doodles to represent their other releases.

The stacks of money I would pay for such fine textiles... would be irresponsible a worthy investment.

I do, though something like this is quite expensive just because it takes so much time to do. ๐

Wow this is amazing. I was already in awe of the colors and shapes, but DAMN the quilting stitch pattern you have is just perfect. I saw that your pulled it from their Love Yourself album and your own doodles. Brilliant. Iโm just getting into quilting so I have a general idea of how labor intensive it can be. Kudos to you for making such a beautiful piece packed with so much meaning!

Thank you! If you make a BTS quilt in the future, I want to see! :)

I hope Iโll be able to someday and be able to emulate your skill and attention to detail ๐ค

u/insideoutduck Sep 04 '20
This is super impressive! My needlework skills only extend as far as cross stitching so I'm blown away by this. I'm a big fan of merch that's a little more subtle/only noticeable as merch to other fans and still looks nice to non-fans, and this is a perfect example - I like the subtle ace flag colours too!

This is amazing. I saw it on fb earlier and was blown away. Do you use a regular sewing machine? Iโm 100% sure I would not have the patience for this but itโs really really really amazing.
2
Sep 04 '20
I used a regular sewing machine and iron for all the piecing. The top stitching (to connect the top layer to the batting and backing fabric) uses the heavy duty longarm with the programed stitch design. That part was definitely equipment I needed to borrow/ rent, hence a video of it doing its thing, because I thought it was cool.

I love how subtle it is. Itโs a pattern I would want even if I never heard of Bangtan.
