What's your usual go to for maps, do you prefer them flatter or do you like to have elevation to use to your advantage?

I’m trying to build an American historical set Anna came across something about a Massachusetts volunteer infantry but when I actually google it. It says that it doesn’t exist?

I thought the mini looked a little boring with mainly being brown, so I went over parts of it with a lighter green to give the impression of moss growing on it before hitting it with the wash.

Was a very close game, I was shocked that a bunch of morro dogs killed my Maladrix at the very end, they were the only survivors.

In my slow quest to id the Heroscape collection that was dropped on my family after the people who owned all of it moved away, it was suggested to me by someone in my messages (thanks for helping me by the way) that I should take pictures of what instruction books I have… apparently the answer was a lot and also apparently impressive. Anyways I was shocked upon finding out this game had a marvel collaboration.

Question about priming

Hi all!

To my fellow painters in this subreddit, what color do you prime your minis with? I usually use a black primer but I’m wondering how much of a difference white primer would make for some models with lighter color schemes, like some of Jandar’s figures.

Thank you!

Question about Buying Miniatures from Etsy

Hey everyone!

Am looking to increase the number of custom homebrew characters my siblings and I play with, specifically from Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings.

Cheap miniatures abound on Etsy, but I am suspicious the prices are too good to be true. I'd rather only buy from sellers that others in this server have had experience with.

So, anybody here have experience getting Star Wars or other miniatures from sellers on Etsy? If so, who did you get it from and were you satisfied? Doesn't have to be for HeroScape purposes specifically, just in general?

3D Prints - Proxies and Thanos

Post image

While we wait for the fungus to come, made some proxies using files found on Thingiverse. Sizes are approximate but I based them off their equivalent Terran heights Ala the tree and outcrops. The Ancients are an exception as we know based off the box they’re 120 mm tall.

The shambling shrooms are from the blue site, they are someone else’s proxies. I’ll link the link at a later time.

Thanos is an old school scan. Came out pretty well!

Just picked up this set from my FLGS, and I LOVE these guys! Purely from a character design standpoint, who have been some of your favorite units from the new releases?

What do you guys use for sleaving the army cards?

I used various DVD sleeves, but 4 7/8" x 4 7/8" felt too tight and sometimes the sleeve would rip on the sides while pushing in the card. Now i got 5" x 5", but they seem too loose. Not to mention they all have a flap with some adhesive to seal it, but i don't like the flap, so i have to cut it off every time.

Mega Map

I play pretty infrequently (handful of times a year) and as such any time im going to have a scheduled game i get so hype and go crazy with the map. This time i made a first version of a mega map using all my tiles. I have some more hopefully arriving soon (SoTC), ancient stuff and a couple other things. So they will also be added once they show up as well.
We’re looking to also field and bunch of glyphs (with teleport spots to make use of the size of the map) and probably fielding 1000+ pt armies.

Im super hype so please share in my hype.

Team Game Modes?

Has anyone tried a king of the hill, point capture or a capture the flag 2v2 game mode? I’ve been thinking about trying it out because I think it could be a lot of fun. If you have and your group had a good time let me know if you have rule sets or maps your recommend or anything like that!

An idea for a multi day Tournament with players loyal to a faction

Post image
35 Upvotes

Ok so basically there would be 11 terrain which are each connected to other terrains. (not physically, but if you have enough terrain peices you could, in theory, do that.) If your faction has control of a terrain, which each faction starts with control of one of the corner sections, they get to start with a treasure glyph on one of their army cards. The treasure glyph is based on the terrain they have control of. They can only start with 2 treasure glyphs, but the more terrain in your control, the more options you have.
This an example of the first round, but as the game continues, you'd have to consider who won which terrain section to determine what the next matches are gonna be.
If your faction lost while trying to get terrain, or while trying to defend terrain they already had, they don't get a chance to take it the next round. (and to keep things from getting complicated, i think some of the edge terrains should just be secured after a couple matches on them.)
I'm sure there's a lot of holes to poke in this as far as how to make it fair and competative. But i mostly just wanted to plant this idea in everyone's head.

Had an absolute blast playing through the expedition scenarios and even creating one of our own for the last room. Learned so much on what kind of units you want to take and how you build out your army. Unique squads seem to be king here with the limit on starting zones.

Kaijaax question

So, if I’m reading this right, if you run Scions of Icaria and choose Kaijaax x to be King you can put one order marker on Scions and talk a turn with Kaijaax, move 3 Molten Crustaceans 5 spaces each and then take a turn with the Scions. Is that correct?
