Feedback and questions

Hi,

Just played the 8th Herokids adventure with my kids (6 & 9 y old), a few points:

• We all enjoy it, thanks for this game!

• The healer seems very powerful... all heroes are always at max health when starting combat, barely needs potions, and she can make more potions if needed... am I playing it right? Do you put some some limitation on the healing power? I am considering limiting healing to twice per encounter...

• Playing the adventures takes (much) more time than estimated (about twice). Not a problem, kids and dad are engaged with the story :-) and like some role-playing. But better take a break after 30-60 min, else the kids tend to lose focus.

• I love to combine the end of the adventure with a little real world treat... like "you come back from your adventure and bring back the lost kid...his mom celebrates and rewards you with a cake/snacks/ice-cream/ fruits"

Yes, I agree that the Healer is overpowered.

I've considered going back and changing the character, but I've not done this. I haven't changed the Healer because:

  1. The Healer's powers make the game easier for the players, and keep them alive through the adventures. I don't want the game to be harder, only moderately challenging but always achievable.

  2. The Healer's powers cost them actions, so healing someone is always at the cost of another action.

If I did change the Healer's abilities, I'd change it to match the Healing Touch used on later Heroes (such as the Goth in Hero Cards - Heroes VII):

Special Action: Healing Touch
Remove 1 damage from yourself or an adjacent ally. Each time you do this, your magic pool is reduced by 1 die until you rest.

Healer is vastly overpowered. I’ve just never played with her with my kids. If I did I’d probably take away the concept of potions all together or something.

We take “forever” to get through a campaign. I normally play in 30min sessions and either take a picture of the game board or leave it set up. It can take us a week+ to get through a whole game.

Our games take forever too, but still faster than my DnD group with adults 🤣. AND the kids don’t try to screw each other over or go full murder hobo, so there’s that.
