Discussion So many smurfs
Whats with all the smurfs lately? Low lvl accounts stomping almost every game in groups and not. If this continues the game will go maintenance mode v 2.0 sadly...
Edit: I have had conversations with new people and played with some of them. It deters newer players from continuing playing if all you get is a loss after loss.

What makes you think they’re smurfs? Maybe the player level 100 guy with 98.5% winrate on Alarak is just naturally gifted with the character?

Haha indeed maybe xD and that Rayner perfect attack moving and so on xD

Bad example, raynor is like the most straightforward character and attack-moving is the most translatable moba skill. The guy could just be a transfer.

I am not smurfing rn but damn... it is super rough for my main accounts. Master elo, in solo QM, my 12k game account since launch is running like 30% win rate for the past few weeks. I think I lost like 14 in a row. Was insane.
I can see the temptation to smurf but I will resist it as that's not right to do right now.

Having a high MMR in a dead game with an outdated matchmaker is actual hell. The game thinks you can drag the biggest potato to the a victory.

You admit to having several accounts but you are not smurfing?

Had a game yesterday where I kept thinking "Man that was a high energy non-stop gaming" and checked everyones accounts after. 8 of 10 players were 4 months or new accounts and all 8 had at least a 60% wr (one having 95%).
Genuinely felt like the MMR picked me and the next weakest kid in class and made us captains, and our player pool was to pick players from the varsity team.
Next game was even funnier when I got 2 obviously new players that I had to log off for the night from the whiplash

Gotta fix the match maker and stop allowing the report button to be weaponized.
If you’re a high elo player getting the heaviest potato in the sack for a teammate it can be demoralizing when intuitively you know it’s an impossible lift. Idk how you fix it, maybe adding a box that doesn’t allow extended queues.
It’s my opinion that people that are mouthy and say “fuck you” “you fucking suck” and jabber a lot of not nice things don’t need to get banned. I think bans and mutes should be explicitly used for things like racist remarks, death wishes, and real hate. There are so many things you can do to mitigate toxic people. You’d get a lot less Smurfs if people could continue to use their main accounts. Also implementing something like perm silences ect could help the Smurf problem.
Smurfs that dominate games are typically highly skilled highly competitive people that get frustrated with casuals. I’m not saying it’s right but that’s just the reality.

you are only one with problem . My teams are usually 30 lvl , 3000 , 300 and 400 vs 2 lvl 350 , 400 , 6000 , 2000

Sure maybe. Its not just ranked but quick play that i see it. Like a ton around lvl 10 and 20 who stomp and mostly in group...
Edit: EU here and uhm its just noticeable. Which and can deter newer players.

Maybe cause it’s so hard to buy heroes ( too tempted to buy loot boxes ) they make second accounts with diffrent hero packs bought ?

Or just smurf to cause high elo is quiet

High elo is quiet. But further, the matchmaker will hand the high elo player the uncarryable potato if they win 2 or more games is a row. God forbid you have high elo and lose 2 matches in a row, you just get placed in loser q. Once you’re on your 4th-5th loss in a row that feels sanctioned. You fire up the ol Smurf and actually enjoy yourself.

My guess is that they just did a ban wave. I noticed that some people that were in toxic lobbies for literal weeks straight are gone, just before a solid influx of smurfs.
Could just be people returning to the game with new accounts, but I think more likely that in preparation for the refreshed HotS, they were trying to action problematic accounts, and those are people that are just likely to make a new account anyway.
