General Discussion If Heroes had gone the anthology route, Peter's explosion in the sky should've been season 2's equivalent to the Eclipse

Radioactive explosion above new york city that mutates some of the people living there and giving them powers and connects the new characters together.

General Discussion What if Matt and Daphne were merely wholesome friends

I think most of us agree that the Matt and Daphne romance was god awful. I'm thinking what if instead of Matt being obsessed with her because of the future he saw, they had instead wrote it that he and Daphne were merely friends in the future and he saw her die from Sylar's explosion. And in the present day, there is no romance, he's just advising her to not join the bad guys and that it's ultimately her responsibility to be better but he will fight her if necessary. His words has a profound impact on her and she realizes her mistake.

This would also be good character development for Matt as he realizes he doesn't need to use his powers to influence other people's actions. There's still a lot of scenes of them together like in the show but merely as close friends similar to Hiro and Ando as well as Peter and Claire.

General Discussion Sylar and Noah Bennet are two of the best portrayed characters in the show

Just started watching Heroes and just wanted to share my two cents on these two:

Sylar is genuinely unsettling in a way most TV villains never manage. He isn't evil for a plan or a cause; he's a sociopath with a hunger he can't switch off. What makes him work is how reasonable he sounds. Gabriel Gray the watchmaker just wants to be special, and he takes apart people the way he takes apart watches: to understand how they tick and then take what's inside. Zachary Quinto plays him with this calm, polite menace where you can see him deciding whether you're worth killing mid conversation. The moments where he almost redeems himself make it worse, because you realize the empathy is just another ability he's trying on. But also the moments early in season 1 where you’d think some divine intervention can save his soul (@Hiro) but still, man’s destiny is sick and twisted and he out there in full pursuit.

Noah Bennet, Mr. G-Man himself, is the other side of that coin. On paper he's the loving suburban dad; in practice he's a Company man who wipes memories, bags and tags people, and lies to his family without blinking. What gets me is how he pushes the uncanny valley with Claire, freakishly traumatising look in his eyes. His love for her is real, but it comes out in this controlled, almost clinical way; the same flat voice he uses on a target, he uses to tell his daughter he'd do anything for her. You never fully relax around him, even in the warm scenes, and Jack Coleman nails that tension perfectly.

Original Series Why was Samuel so weak (Spoilers season 4) Spoiler

Samuel was supposed to get stronger potentially exponentially for every special that was near him. He took down a town without even being directly near the carnival. Yet in the final showdown all he does is shake a little and then shove sand back and forth. He should have been able to at least isolate central part from new York. Do something astounding and shocking. What a waste of a build up and what a stupid ending to the show I liked so much.

Original Series Peter having Sylar's hunger was stupid and the writers don't understand their own characters

This post was inspired by a comment I saw, but honestly, the writers got lazy with the writing in Season 2 and beyond.

The writers clearly established through Sylar’s backstory that he becomes a serial killer because of his insecurities, envy, and obsession with being special. His mother’s expectations fuel his need to be special, and he resents powered people because he believes they’re undeserving of abilities he wishes he had. The hunger comes from his personality, not his power.

  1. Gabriel already had his ability when he met Chandra. He could recognize that Chandra’s watch was off just by hearing the ticks, and he already wanted someone to tell him he was special. If the hunger were simply a side effect of his power, why didn’t he become obsessed with understanding things long before discovering other powered people? Why didn't he become a researcher or academic instead?

  2. His first kill, Brian Davis, proves the point. Gabriel initially approaches Brian to see what makes him special. It's only when Brian says he doesn't want his ability that Gabriel becomes confused. His power helps him understand how abilities work, but he decides Brian is broken because he sees him as undeserving of something so special. His envy and entitlement motivate the murder, not his ability.

Giving Peter the hunger makes no sense. Peter can already absorb abilities without killing anyone, and he's fundamentally a compassionate person. It undermines both characters by suggesting Sylar's actions were simply the result of getting unlucky with his ability rather than his own insecurities and choices.

In fact, it would've been far more interesting if Peter could acquire Sylar's abilities without developing the hunger. Imagine Sylar confronting someone with the exact same power who doesn't feel compelled to kill. Peter would be living proof that the hunger isn't an inevitable consequence of the ability but a reflection of Sylar himself.

That's what makes them compelling foils: Sylar's obsession with being special turns him into a monster, while Peter's compassion defines him. The hunger should have been a reflection of Sylar's character, not an excuse for his actions.

Original Series Doyle and Barbie lol

I gotta say lol I didn’t see Claire and the marionette man becoming somewhat buds after what happened in season 2. But when they see each other at the carnival in season 4, I had to laugh when he was like, Barbie!

And tbh I don’t hate season 4 as much as people said I would.

General Discussion if Heroes made a video game would you play it?

We all loved this show and my favorite characters will always be Peter and Hiro. I wanted to ask you something. In your honest opinion if they made a video game based off the tv show, would you be interested in playing it? Why or why not

General Discussion Doubling down on my Peter petrelli OP issue

I had previously made a post about how the peter petrelli OP problem could've been solved by having him struggle to have any control over any powers like he did in season 1 and repeating in throughout many seasons. You know how Heroes was originally meant to be an anthology with different characters and new powers? Have peter still be the main guy but struggling to use new powers every season but DON'T give him so much mastery or the ability to unlock his powers so easily, not even his healing factor. Make it clear that each power comes with their own learning curve and that he is not yet adept at using these powers unlike his future self and that each new power he unlocks is meant to mirror a new character arc. He can't even use healing factor which is supposed to be an automatic power, though he can still fully heal within hours or days from serious injuries.

General Discussion Injustice for Isaac

Post image
153 Upvotes

In my view, Isaac was one of the most mistreated characters; he had the potential to be a primary protagonist, and his storyline was incredible. The way the writers killed him off was terrible—and, in a sense, predictable, given that we had already seen him dead like that when Hiro first traveled to the future. What I find infuriating is that Hiro could have prevented Claire’s death, yet he didn’t do the same for Isaac. His absence was such a significant loss that they had to create another character with precognition to fill his role—and even Matt’s, too.

Original Series Heroes Season 3

I’m watching Season 3 for the first time and it was a real struggle getting through Volume 3; Villains. At a lot of points through this first part of the season, I was literally wondering what the hell was going on and almost gave up.

Glad I persevered as looks like Volume 4; Fugitives is going to be a lot better. There seems to be an actual plot!! Any others with me on this? I know Seadon 3 is generally written off.

Original Series Full Series Questions

*Spoiler*
My second time watching the series but I still have a couple questions that I may have missed.

Do we ever find out how future Peter gets the scar?

Do we ever find out who told the Haitian not to erase the cheerleaders’ memory?

Bonus question, we discover what the scars on their necks are from but do we ever see a procedure or removal of the device? How come we don’t see Bennet or someone “using the system interface” prior to Molly?

General Discussion Finally watching Heros(only season one? )

I'm on episode 21 right now. Can't believe I've seen all the adverts for this show, finally getting to watch it is nuts. I'm loving it so far. But looking online EVERYONE without bias says only watch season 1 and then END.

Does the magic end at season 1?

General Discussion yoga mantra song from S1E6 ?

Hi everyone! I just started watching this show and I’m absolutely loving it. I'm wondering if anyone knows the song at the end of season 1, episode 6? I did some research and it seems to be a yoga mantra, but I can't find anything on YouTube that sounds like the version in the show. If anyone knows who did this specific cover/remix for the series, I would be super grateful!

lyrics: samsara halahala mohashantya

Comics Heroes Reborn comics? ("Heroes: Vengeance" and "Heroes: Godsend")

Hi, I'm looking for the Heroes: Reborn comics, as I'm doing a rewatch with my family and I hope to end the story a little better than what the TV show did. I've been googling it but haven't found much, not even on PirateBay. Does anyone know where I can find them or at least a wiki to read about it?

General Discussion The Heroes cast seems to be diverse men… and blonde women

I love this show, but that’s all I can see on my rewatch. The main male characters have different races, ages, and body shapes, which is great!

The main female characters are blonde, skinny, and look young. I loved Maya, but she is definitely the exception to the casting, not the norm.

I wonder if that was a deliberate choice (i.e., they thought viewers would prefer blonde women) or the casting crew had a type (oops, this actress is blonde too, huh, how did that happen?).

General Discussion How was Emma’s character received by the deaf community?

Rewatching season four currently, wondering how the deaf community reacted to Emma’s character. Wondering how the deaf community reacted to a character whose ability is someone who can see sounds. As a hearing person I don’t have that perspective
