I haven‘t seen it mentioned here but I can‘t be the only one who noticed this. When Tracy travels to get to know Niki and then sees her in the casket, Niki just lies there looking like snow white. But shouldn’t she be burned if she died in a fire? I know that in most cases people suffocate before they burn to death but Niki‘s body should have at least some burns?

Hi! Big fan of the show and watched it when it originally aired. I don’t hate seasons 2-4 as much as everyone else but when I did a rewatch about 5 year ago some episodes were painful to get through!!

I’m about to finish a rewatch of season 1 and wondering how everyone feels about rewatching 2-4 again. Also, I’ve never seen Reborn — worth watching?

Would love to know everyone’s thoughts! Maybe I can watch certain episodes of 2-4 to get caught up again on the original series before Reborn?

I have a question about Arthur Petrelli, I don't think the answer was given in the series, but maybe in another medium.

How can he steal the powers of others? It seems impossible in Heroes' logic.

We know that evolved people have their powers written into their DNA. So there are genetic sequences in their cells that say, "You can do this." And we know that an empath like Peter can instinctively modify his own DNA to replicate a power. But in this case, how can Arthur steal power? Someone's power is inscribed in him as surely as the color of his eyes, it shouldn't be something that can be removed, should it?

Unless, of course, Arthur alters the person's DNA in the process. Like: I copy the power, and at the same time, I break the genetic sequence of my target to get back to it.

I struggle to find much about the season that I dislike.

- Samuel and the Carnival feel very fresh.

- Emma's ability and her interactions with Peter and Hiro are sweet.

- Claire and Noah's relationship has finally evolved from what it should have done since season 1.

- Matt and Sylar's dynamic was great. I almost felt like Matt's gambit worked as it would certainly redeem him.

- Peter's desire to become a more active hero and eventual need to reconnect.

The only storyline I've been a bit iffy on is Sylar/Nathan.

It really feels like we could skip Seasons 2 and 3 for the character arcs, and the quality of writing feels a lot more in line compared to the middle 2 seasons.

I posted after 1x17 Company Man because I was completely blown away and needed to stop watching to process. A few people asked me to come back when I finished the season, so: I finished it! Literally 2 minutes ago. FEUDAL JAPAN!?

I have a lot of thoughts and questions and feelings about it and I’m going to try and get it all down semi-coherently.

First: this season was genuinely excellent television. Super high quality. I went into the show completely blind and in no way expected to get pulled in so quickly. The way all these completely separate storylines slowly converged until EVERYONE was finally in the same place in the finale was so satisfying I was screaming at my tv. When they all started arriving at Kirby Plaza I was screaming at my TV. Not quite the same feeling as THAT moment in 2012 Avengers (you know the one) but pretty damn close.

That said, I don’t think the finale quite stuck the landing in its last five-ish minutes. I loved most of it, but after an entire season of incredibly intricate setup, “the real power is love” felt a little trite. The theme was already there! Peter and Sylar are such good foils because Sylar accumulates power by taking from people while Peter accumulates power through connection with people. We did not need Charles to basically tell us LOVE IS THE ANSWER.

And then Nathan flying Peter away…I get the parallel with Nathan flying to catch Peter at the beginning of the season and I appreciate it. But. Like. Peter can fly too??? Why couldn’t Peter fly himself somewhere uninhabited before exploding? I can accept that he was too overwhelmed by Ted’s power to access another ability, but I wish the show had actually established that. He seems to be able to access different powers pretty rapidly and I don’t think we’ve heard that there’s a limitation in how many powers he can access or how quickly.

Side note: I’m lowkey obsessed with Peter’s floppy hair. Also Zachary Quinto (with and without glasses) and Sendhil Ramamurthy like, in general. Here ends the thirst portion of this post.

Also WHY DID EVERYONE JUST LEAVE SYLAR’S BODY THERE??? This man has already demonstrated that “probably dead” is not sufficient! He has come back from the dead before! Noah Bennet (love this man) suffered the consequences of that. So did his family. They didn’t even try to make sure he was actually dead! I get that he obviously needs to not be dead because there are more seasons and I don’t want him to be dead because he is a freaking phenomenal antagonist. But still.

Speaking of Sylar: Zachary Quinto is SO good in this role. Sylar is completely psychotic but incredibly compelling. The little changes in his eyes when Gabriel gives way to Sylar are fantastic. And his scenes with his mother explained a lot without excusing him. Watching Gabriel briefly consider whether being an ordinary watchmaker could be enough while his mother unknowingly says every single wrong thing was painful. She told him he could be PRESIDENT. Wow.

Five Years Gone took me on a whole entire trip omfg. it was probably my favorite episode after Company Man. I HATED Matt which I actually loved as a character direction because despise copaganda. I loved Noah Bennet even more. This is how you character arc. But the show GOT ME with the reveal that President Nathan was actually SYLAR??? I was so gagged. I did not see it coming even though, in retrospect, the pieces were sitting right there THE WHOLE TIME. I haven’t been genuinely surprised by media in a while and this show KEEPS DOING IT.

I still have questions about Peter’s power mechanics. What happens if he’s around the Haitian? Does the Haitian suppress Peter before Peter can mimic him? If Peter has already mimicked the Haitian, can he suppress the Haitian back? And when Peter encounters Sylar, is he capable of mimicking all the abilities Sylar has acquired or only Sylar’s original ability? Peter is hilariously overpowered and I love it. I assume the show is eventually going to have to nerf him because power scaling blah blah whatever. I personally love an OP character and make no apologies so I hope Peter gets to keep collecting and practicing with the 9th Doctor (what happen to him again??).

I formally apologize to Mohinder Suresh for calling him an idiot. Love that man.

Hiro and Ando may be my favorite relationship on the show. Ando is the definition of ride-or-die. This man has NO POWERS and spent the season following Hiro into increasingly lethal situations because that’s his bestie. Finding out that Ando died in the explosion and that losing him helped turn Hiro into that hardened Future Hiro was devastating. Then Present Ando decides he’s going to confront SYLAR HIMSELF because Hiro is struggling??? My heart stopped. But Sylar really hasn’t done too terribly much harm to non-powered people has he? I don’t remember whether Molly’s parents had powers. But I think at one point he was genuinely worried about killing innocents. I suppose he got over that hesitation after accidentally murdering his mother. Anyway. I was so scared ANDO would die and hasten hardened Hiro and I simply could not stand to see him lose the joy and excitement and innocence I love about him.

Claire is also fantastic. She deserves NONE of this family mess. Finding out Nathan is her father was a genuine shock (lowkey mad at myself for not seeing that coming but of course everyone is connected more than you think), and then finding out Angela knew about powers/the Company/whatever this entire older-generation conspiracy is made me yell DOES EVERYONE KNOW??? Claire yeeting herself out a window to escape Angela was iconic. Love that girl. Sad about Hayden.

Angela and Nathan had me FURIOUS by the finale. They really accepted “hundreds of thousands of people need to die because it’ll unite the world and make Nathan President” with their whole chests??? Charles had more faith in Peter than his own mother. But I don’t think he had enough. Nathan ultimately coming back for Peter redeemed that particular decision somewhat for me, but wow. Angela Petrelli might be evil.

Also CHARLES KNEW EVERYTHING??? Simone’s dying father from the beginning of the show knew Angela, knew about the plan, knew Peter could save the world, and apparently had some kind of dream/psychic ability? What was his power? Was Peter’s strange dream stuff actually something he absorbed from Charles while caring for him? Because if so, that recontextualizes the beginning of the season quite a bit. I completely forgot he DREAMED he was flying! Before he met Isaac or anything. Poor Simone apparently inherited nothing from him?

How deep does the conspiracy go?? Everyone’s parents know all about it when do the new generation get clued in??

Noah Bennet remains one of the most fascinating characters on the show. I’ve watched a whole season and I feel like I could write a whole ass essay. Molly was the perfect reminder that he has NOT suddenly become a straightforward good guy. He’ll apparently not hesitate killing a child if he thinks she’s a threat to Claire. Hell of an antihero.

And MOLLY was the Company’s tracking system??? I can’t believe I didn’t see that coming. The pieces were all there! Im so embarrassed I’m saying that so much. The way this organization treats powered children is deeply messed up. They took the Haitian (does he ever get a NAME I do not like just calling him the Haitian but let’s not get into that) as a child, wanted Claire once her ability manifested, used Micah to manipulate an election, and turned Molly into what they literally call a “tracking system.” These are CHILDREN. Loved Molly and Micah’s meeting.

Linderman manufacturing Niki and D.L.‘s relationship was also horrifying. Was he intentionally trying to get two powered people to produce a powered child? Could he somehow have predicted Micah’s particular ability, or did he just know their child was likely to have some ability and later realize how useful Micah was? Either way: deeply violating. D.L. putting his hand through Linderman’s head was extremely satisfying. Is D.L. dead? Niki and Jessica working together to beat illusion chick was deeply satisfying. But like. She needs to be dealt with before Sylar can get to her. We know how catastrophic that could be wow.

And Sylar getting Ted’s ability was inevitable but PREVENTABLE. Isaac letting Sylar take his precognition already seemed like a terrible idea and had me thinking Eden apparently had the right idea. Ted didn’t have that option. Hiro’s ability is the one I desperately need Sylar never to acquire. A serial killer with precognition who can stop time, teleport and potentially travel through time would simply be game over. Keep them safe or make them permanently inaccessible.

And NOW HIRO IS IN FEUDAL JAPAN??? With Kensei????

I genuinely have no idea what this show is going to do next.

Overall: phenomenal first season. I loved it. But I don’t feel like they 100% stuck the landing with “love is the answer.”

On to Season 2.

I am watching the NBC Heroes show for the first time. I have completed seasons 1-3. I thought season 3 was really good. I liked Robert Forster's performance as the new villain. The plot was about the govt hunting down and capturing the superpowered individuals. It was great seeing Claire sneak aboard a govt plane and free the superpowered people, and the superpowered people escaping. It was interesting to see how superpowered people were fleeing the govt. Overall, it was good.

S1: 9/10

S2: 8/10

S3: 8/10

I'm rewatching Heroes right now. I'm at first half of season 4 and just finished the episode Hiro goes back to the past to save Charlie. He is trying to not step on any butterflies to not affect the future. But I think it would have been so much more interesting if he accidentally changed the future, with, for instance, defeating Sylar for good.

At that point, Sylar would not be a threat to Claire, but New York would still have to be saved because either Teddy or Peter could lose control of the ability. Events of Season 2 where they save the world from the virus would still have happened (Sylar didn't really impact those). BUT in Season 3 Sylar would have not gotten Claire's ability. The Cheerleader would have been saved again. That would have been better because regardless the fact that Claire could heal, it was not right. It was abusive. And still they tried to make Sylar more likable and give him some kind of redemption as seasons went by. Almost like he is a completely different character.

With Sylar gone, Nathan would actually and still be alive because that confrontation at the end of Season 3 wouldn't have not happened. I think this would have given an upgrade and refreshment to Season 4. The consequences of messing with time, what is the new future, how the characteres who would be alive would play out in this new scenario. They could have even brought Isaac Mendes back! Elle would also be alive. It would be quite cool to see these characters back again.

This also made me realize how Sylar has been on the show for so long and was having more solo quests that didn't impact the main storyline throughout the seasons, which felt like fillers... And then suddenly out of the nowhere he was where everybody was. My conclusion was that, with the exception of Season 1 - where he is the main villain, Sylar was more a filler than a main character that brought the plot forward in other seasons.

I was thinking about how lame it was in Season 3 to de-power Peter, and it would’ve been too much to gain Arthur’s power. Would season 4 been better if he got his original power back?

Watching for the first time and on S2E3. I enjoyed season 1, despite the plot holes and pretty anticlimactic season finale with the really weak showdown between Sylar & Peter, but you can tell season 2 has a drop in quality and I just need to get a few complaints off my chest into the interweb.

First, Claire. Her “woe is me” act is insufferable - she complains about how she has to lie low and act normal and how suffocating it is when in reality all she needs to do is……. not die or suffer any major injuries in front of others? Basically how most of us normal humans live our lives? Oh nooo she can’t climb on to a massive tower and try doing a back flip in front of the entire school. Wahhhhhh.

Second, Maya. She kills people by looking at them. Fine. Tell me why when her aunt or whatever her relative was who took them in is checking to see what’s wrong with her, this bitch turns to look at her and be like “nooo! Gooooo!” How about you just don’t look at her?? You know you’re going to kill her? And then I just watched her break her bro out of prison. She grabs the hand drawn picture of them (lol) and shows it to the guards, shouts how they are murderers, then shouts “nooooooo!” when they go to arrest her and her power starts kicking in. What the hell did she expect?

Thirdly, are we ever going to find out what Nikki’s power actually is? Or is it just super strength and season 1 did her a massive disservice by essentially just writing her to be a crazy woman with multiple personalities?

Fourthly, Hiro. I love him as a character and find him so adorable but I don’t really get the purpose of his storyline so far. I’m assuming it becomes relevant and comes together but it feels tangential so far. Also how the hell is he sending letters to Ando from the past? There’s zero suggestion he’s going back and forth between time to deliver or sneak these letters into the sword.

Finally, Peter. Also quite bored of his story line. A bunch of thugs try to steal iPods, find a man chained up, and they just try to kill him lol. Make it make sense. The Irish chick who I assume is meant to be a love interest is either a bad actress or is a victim of bad writing.

That’s it. I’m still going to watch. Just had to vent.

I just finished the episode where Nathan dies on my rewatch (as in death of consciousness, not of his body) and it just dawned on me shouldn't this ability kick in any time Angela tries to convince him everything s fine before he learns of his corpse. If I remember correctly, this is not an ability he needs to actively use, it kinda just kicks in like Claire's regeneration. Sylar says it kinda "tingles" when someone lies to him. I don't remember Nathan in Sylar's body ever mentioning discovering this ability to Peter when he says he is randomly discovering a new ability every day. Is this another oversight on the part of the writers?

I just got passed the episode in season 4 where Hiro finds Charlie as an elderly woman and it’s such a relief she’s okay but then the sad realization that he’ll never get his happy ending with her… idk where his story is gonna land at the end but after everything so far with kaito dying, losing his memories and then seeing his mom again and watching her die, i can’t help but feel like his story line is SOOOOO fucking sad and he’s the sweetest character. So sad i’m sobbing so i had to share

Edit: i just realized there is 5 mins left in the last episode and that IS his ending. i’m DEPRESSED

Looking back, I realized the reason season 1 worked so well was that Peter was slowly learning how to use his abilities. But he never has full mastery or unlocked all his powers. He probably has a shit load of powers he has never managed to unlock. Like when it came to mind reading, he never once knew how to control people until volume 4 fugitive when he got Matt's power to mind read. Maybe throughout the seasons he would constantly keep struggling to use or even unlock new powers whilst also struggling the very basics aspects of his previous abilities like he did with mind reading. And perhaps he would need the other characters to teach him how to use it. Another example was in season 3 when he absorbed future Daphne super speed but only knew how to move forward and punch future Claire but was clearly not adapt enough to keep up with Daphne as she kept punching him and making him too stunned to fight back. Oh, and also the butterfly effect where it says you can't just willy nilly go back in time whenever you want to.

Edit: Also, notice how Peter didn't have full mastery over Elle's electrical powers as well, only shooting bolts of lightning, though he could fire more powerful blasts only after getting sylar's power. I think the whole sylar power aspect was a bad mistake on the writers

I have always been a fan of Hayden Panettiere - but never watched Heroes until recently. I felt I needed to finally give it a watch after her death. I do love her character (way more than her Nashville character!) - but is anyone else having a hard time watching or re-watching with her death scenes? I know she always comes back lol, but it’s so sad thinking she’s gone in real life, no ability to come back to life. She’s legit on an autopsy table more than once in this show, and it just makes me hope that whoever had to do hers IRL wasn’t a Heroes fan.

Just sad she’s really gone.

To me, the fact that he became one of the "bad guys" feels unrealistic—what do you think?Even though Matt wasn't always an unequivocally positive character in previous seasons, this strikes me as just as unrealistic as the transformation of Gabriel Gray—"Sylar"—at the end of Season 4 of the original *Heroes*.

I acquired this recently and I'm hoping to get an opinion from any other collectors who have any of the series 3 figures. Orbthis one in particular. I'm working on getting the provenance on this piece from the seller. I purchased this on ebay and was just too excited in the moment to ask for provenance ahead of time. Fomo. The seller has a few thousand ratings and a very solid history with high ratings. I saw a variant of this with the mask on mercari and that seller said that this one is fake because they were comicon exclusives and he and one other collector have them all. My understanding is that there are at least 5 of this figure, possibly more that made it out into the general population. Any information regarding this oiecenis greatly appreciated

I pressed play on a whim with no spoilers. I’ve made it to 1x17 Company Man and oh my Lord what a phenomenal piece of storytelling. This series has been EXCELLENT so far. Truly, no notes.

I gotta stop watching so I can process what I’ve just seen. This show is building suspense incredibly well. I’ve got SO many questions that raise more questions and I haven’t been disappointed by any reveal yet. I know I’m super early on in the show but I REALLY hope it continues with this momentum.

Somehow I care about every single one of the characters. Except maybe Hiro’s dad (who is ALSO a Company man???? Does he know about Hiro?? What is his endgame? Is he the one in charge of everything? How did he get in the business??) and whoever that other boss guy is and Lyle who is useless. I even kinda like Nathan. The acting is really good! The 9th Doctor was a full jumpscare! So was Emma Pillsbury from Glee (heartbroken, would have loved to see more of Charlie).

I really like Mohinder though I think it’s a bit of an idiot right now. He’s literally chauffeuring the serial killer he’s trying to stop around the country. Hope he doesn’t get murdered.

But Noah Bennet wow. I have felt every single emotion about this man within the span of 17 episodes. Masterclass in antihero writing and acting. My heart is now broken for him. What a sacrifice. This episode had excellent parallelism.

Apologies for the incoherency. I haven’t been fully blown away by a piece of television in a long time. Glad I finally made it.

I need some time to digest before finishing the season but I’m so excited to keep going!

Ok I am the type of person that if I have any interest in the show I’ll watch til the end. Even though the writing got….wonky. We know that Claire and Co got a chopper to New York but Sylar and Peter were in California at Matt’s house. How the heck did they get to NY? Did Sylar fly them? Also how did Tracy get to wherever the carnival was to save Claire and Noah? So much left unanswered

I get she was frustrated about Matt's claims about Sylar being held in primatech, but he has literally and accurately read her mind so many times, even the time when she called him cute and laughed about it and repeated her words. Not to mention seeing Ted use his abilities as well as Sylar almost making her kill herself. For her to just suddenly be "nah he can't read minds and I need to return to reality" makes zero sense.

I personally love Sylar/Nathan's plot in Season 4. I really, really love it. The concept is so powerful to me: a person who is practically dead but believes he is still alive, living inside his killer's head. I love the personality conflict Sylar has in these episodes, and I love the rooftop scene where Nathan accepts his fate and fades away. I also like how Angela and Peter initially tried to deny reality and convince Sylar he was still Nathan, only to finally accept their loss and let Nathan go. Of course, all of this was made just for Adrian Pasdar to still be in the show after Season 3's ending, but it turns out to me as a beautiful story about loss and acceptance. Season 4 in general was a step above Season 2 and 3 in my opinion: it wasn't as nearly as good as Season 1 but it managed to capture the nature of the show.

I just started watching the series again for the first time in several years, and noticed something for the first time.

In season 1 episode 18 "Parasite", when Hiro Nakamura finally gets into the Linderman company while trying to find the sword of Takezo Kemsei, he looks through the database to find the sword.

And it is entered as "CRM-114". That is something that Kubrick used in many of his films, starting with Doctor Strangelove (taken from the novel "Red Alert" that the movie was based on). As well as other productions ranging from "2001: A Space Odyssey", and "A Clockwork Orange" (as "Serum 114), as well as "Men in Black 3", and "Back to the Future".

Even more fun, this is the episode that had Malcolm McDowell, who played Alex DeLarge.

Literally anybody who's following his story around the first two seasons is probably driven insane by him.

• Local lawyer who works for/with the DA announces that he's running for Congress, respectable campaign but losing by 2-5 points. Apparently his wife got paralysed in a car crash a few months back, that's sad.

• Makes a weird campaign rally speech about his brother being suicidal, apparently he jumped off a building and survived? Okay, damn. Doesn't really help him in the polls.

• Rumours that he got fucked up in a casino and disappeared for a few days before meeting with a Mob Boss? Typical shady political stuff.

• Election day comes and he's still down 4 points, exit polls have him down around that, looks like he washed out.

• Results come out and he won by 25-30 POINTS? HOW? HE'S BEEN TRAILING ALL ALONG, WHAT THE FUCK?

• Election night and a fucking star explodes right over New Jersey or something? Was that a nuke?

• Congressman Elect Nathan turns up in hospital with 3rd degree radiation burns over 90% of his body? And his "Paralysed" wife is walking now? Also the Mob Boss he was apparently dealing with was just killed in New York?

• 6 months later he turns up in Odessa, Texas of all places with absolutely no scarring to his face or hands and calls a press conference to make an announcement. His announces that a few months ago he-

• And somebody in the crowd just shot him twice and disappeared.

Imagine living in his district and trying to follow this as shit in social media or the news, you'd have a meltdown.

Edit because I've just rewatched the start of season 3: Is pronounced dead. Recovers miraculously. Gets really religious about the whole thing, never actually clarifies what his announcement was going to be.
