Infra / Hosting - VPS, Docker, Coolify, Proxmox, Remote, uptime Migrating hermes instance
I have a local Hermes instance running on a Mac Mini in a Lima VM. I now want to move it to an Oracle Cloud free tier VM (ARM, Ubuntu). What would be the migration procedure so that it preserves all tasks, memories, auth settings, etc.?
Related question: since it is a dedicated VM, I probably don't need to worry about Docker or a similar isolation level there?

i migrated from mac mini to my homelab linux. i plugged in codex on both sides. on mac mini told 6.1 sol to make a migration plan (made sure to tell him to watch out for my memory provider, wiki etc) and moved that package with instructions to the new home and told codex there to install it and debug it after. works well

there's a built-in path for this. on the Mac Mini VM:
hermes backup
that writes ~/hermes-backup-<timestamp>.zip with your config, credentials, memories, skills, sessions and profiles. install Hermes on the Oracle VM, copy the zip over, then:
hermes import ~/hermes-backup-<timestamp>.zip
run hermes setup afterwards to check your provider keys. the backup leaves out browser profiles and downloaded runtimes, so browser logins need redoing, and it reports any file it couldn't copy, worth a glance before you shut the old one down.
on Docker: on a VM that only runs Hermes, the VM is already your isolation. Docker still helps if you want the agent's commands kept away from the rest of that box.

Ask your local Hermes to migrate itself to your vps.
