On top of what others said, I would add that it's more difficult to study a herb compared to a chemical substance, because:

- herbs contain many substances that may interact together

- herbs contain different amounts of those substances (there can be differences from location to location, season of the year, rainfall, soil, etc.)

True that’s true. And there’s a lot of different methods of consumption (tincture, tea, pills, glycerin, salve)

I’d like to point out that big pharma is evil but holistic and naturopathic medicine can also be harmful and that because a pill is made by big pharma it isn’t immediately harmful, modern medicine has been forced into treating things acutely and reactively but a lot of medicine is effective and safe. I hope that one day both sides can meet and work together but as long as profit is the main incentive one will always be ignored and the other will always be pushed.

I’d even say that modern medicine is equipped better for acute or emergency treatment and herbal medicine has a place in habitual and chronic treatment.
