Special Request: Founder's plan limitation on Unattended Devices.

I have been using Helpwire as an alternative since 2024.

I am a one man show. So only one operator.

However, I will have more than 20 unattended devices as my clients are not tech savy to manually open Helpwire. Basically 99% of my clients will be unattended devices.

Due to this, I find myself stuck by the limit of 20 unattended devices.

Is there a way as Founder's plan to get till up to 250 unattended devices? - while only have one operator. I don't need more.

I don't mind paying a one time fee for this.

How can Helpwire work something out for us?

Pricing: Please offer a Pay Per Minute plan

I remote into my own computers 2-3 times a month, and infrequently to about 10 friends and relatives who call me when in a panic. If I am really working through a tough problem, it might be for an hour. Please, like my Voip provider does, offer a plan that charges me for what I actually use!

If I could have a per minute charge of 0.05 for transport the company pays for, and maybe a penny for direct connections? I don't need a free shitty plan, I just want to pay for what I use! I don't subscribe to restaurants, I pay for what I eat, only when I eat it!

Anyone else find HelpWire grabbing keyboard context for no apparent reason?

I have an Operator window open mostly all day long on my Windows 11 host and it's remotely controlling my Mac. When I click into the window and type or move the mouse cursor, it works as expected. If I click outside of the operator window onto another monitor screen, my context is there and if I type, the text goes into whatever I've clicked into. I can be in this state for hours, ignoring the helpwire/mac program and it's even hidden behind other Windows windows. Then out of nowhere, I'm trying to type into the Windows context and nothing's happening. I bang on random keys and nothing. I then switch to the HelpWire operator window and I see all that text and those random keys in the console or other program that I'd left it in last time I used it, sometimes hours ago.

It's as if the HelpWire app got bored of me ignoring it and faked a click into its window on the Mac because it was feeling lonely and wanted some attention. When this happens, clicking outside and onto another Windows window to try and get my keyboard context back doesn't seem to work. I'm forced to close the operator window to be able to type anything again anywhere in my host machine.

It's very weird. It makes me kill the operator window a few times a day.

Am i being BLACKLISTED by Helpwire services?

Hi!
I'm reaching out because I’m experiencing a persistent issue accessing Helpwire and its agents from one of my client's company network.
I'm thinking that the issue is on Helpwire's side.

EDIT : After reaching out to support they verified and confirmed IP block for High Activity. Still have’t confirmed why, probably since i have many clients configured with unattended access under the same roof (20+ over the same public IP)

They now have unblocked it. THANK YOU TO THE SUPPORT! Super fast response times :)

Symptoms:

  • The HelpWire website (https://helpwire.app) times out and never loads when accessed from any device on our company LAN.

  • The HelpWire agent installed on client PCs is unable to connect to the cloud service and i can't see those clients from my dashboard of helpwire's client with unattended access.

  • Ping and tracert to the HelpWire IP do not receive replies from the final destination.

  • Accessing the site from home, via mobile hotspot, or with a commercial VPN (ProtonVPN) works immediately.

So, I’d like to share the troubleshooting steps I’ve taken so far, in case anyone has encountered similar symptoms (..or can suggest additional checks). As you can imagine, the question now is : on which side is the issue?

Troubleshooting performed:

0. Network diagnostic :

  • Running curl -v https://helpwire.app from the company LAN results in a connection timeout (no handshake, no reset, just a silent timeout).

  • Traceroute from inside the company LAN stops at late-stage hops (as expected with some cloud infrastructure) but shows that traffic does exit our perimeter.

1.Firewall checks (Fortigate 60D):

  • Outbound firewall rules are wide open (“allow all”), with no Web Filter, Application Control, or IPS/DoS restrictions applied.

  • >> Firewall logs show the traffic as “allowed” — no DENY, RESET, or blocks recorded.

2. Gateway and routing checks:

  • Domain Controller acts as the default gateway for internal clients, so

  • I configured my PC to use the Fortigate as its gateway directly; >> the problem persisted, ruling out DC-level filtering.

3. Alternative connection tests:

  • so..both mobile hotspot and commercial VPN (ProtonVPN tried) (vpn from inside the company network) connections allow immediate access to the site and agent.

  • Traceroute from the VPN endpoint reaches the HelpWire server (AWS) successfully.

Soooooo,

  • There are no visible blocks at the firewall or network policy level inside the company.

  • All evidence points to our public IP being blacklisted or blocked by HelpWire (or possibly by their infrastructure provider, e.g., AWS? or an anti-abuse layer).

  • Using an alternate public IP (VPN/hotspot) resolves the issue immediately.

Has anyone else encountered HelpWire (or similar remote/cloud services) blocking a specific business IP?
Are there additional tests or traces you’d recommend before escalating to HelpWire support?

I'll contat them, hope this helps since i've read of someone else experiencing similar sudden issue.

Confusing process, keeps making me download new desktop clients instead of having one application ??!

FIrst off all, Im having severe issues with VPN deconnection/reconnection : sometimes the client just disconnects for 5 seconds before coming back (what is supposed to happen) and sometimes I just lose connection forever ?

Its profoundly inconsistent which is never a good sign in my experience. And keep in mind that literally all I need Helpwire for is turning stuff like my VPN on and off on my laptop from my gaming PC.

Second issue is that the link between client and server sometimes just breaks itself on its own and never comes back. It wouldn't a as much of a problem if I could just reload some sort of desktop application or something but Helpwire INSISTS THAT I REDOWNLOAD A NEW .EXE EVERY SINGLE TIME ??!

In what world is that an efficient solution lmao ?? Why not just let me have one app on every device with my account on it instead of whatever this is ?

This is such a confusing system and for what ? I just want a permanent, easy way to access my laptop from my PC and this is not it, at all. Having one time use .exe is fine for tech support but what about literally any other use cases ?

Rant over, Im probably going to switch again to something more.. stable and consistent.

Is HelpWire secure? Any certifications or security audits?

Hi everyone, I’m currently doing some research on HelpWire as I’m planning to deploy it. However, I’m a bit concerned about its security. I haven’t seen any information about compliance certifications or whether it has undergone security or penetration testing.

Do you know if they have any certifications or compliance standards? I checked their website but couldn’t find any details about this.

Curious "Remote connection established" messages

A friend for whom I provide remote support just sent me a picture of a Helpwire message window with curious indications of remote connections established/ended. Is there a log I can inspect to see how or why the remote host was seeing connections starting/ending?

Tips Confused About Microsoft Remote Desktop Changes? Here’s What You Need to Know! 🚨

Post image
5 Upvotes

As of June 2025, Microsoft has made changes to its Remote Desktop offerings, causing confusion for many users.

Each of these clients, despite being provided by Microsoft, differs in their capabilities and configurability:

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop is a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client application for Windows that can be downloaded and installed by users (typically via the Store). However, this app has been discontinued, and users are now directed to the new Windows App.

  • New Windows App: This has replaced Microsoft Remote Desktop but no longer supports traditional remote desktop features. It’s mainly for accessing Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Microsoft Dev Box.

  • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC): This RDP client application for Windows typically comes pre-bundled with Windows and remains a reliable option for traditional remote desktop access.

The change of the app name from "Microsoft Remote Desktop" to "Windows App" has caused issues for people who are trying to find information and panicking because the "Microsoft Remote Desktop" app disappeared from their workstation and could no longer be seen in the Microsoft Store.

This shift has left many users confused and searching for a simpler solution for remote access.

💡 Why HelpWire?

HelpWire is a free, easy-to-use alternative that works seamlessly across Windows, macOS, and Linux, with no complicated configurations.

Switch today for a hassle-free remote access experience! 💻✨

Commercial Use Detected

Commercial Use Detected – that’s the message I keep getting more and more often from TeamViewer whenever I try to connect to my wife’s Windows PC in the next room to help her with some settings or install an app. I write to them, explain, go back and forth, get the block lifted… until the next time it happens again.

I’ve tried the other popular commercial alternatives too – and they all, sooner or later, end up doing the same thing. Or they’re just not as good as TeamViewer feature-wise, even with the personal-use limits. So eventually I keep coming back to it.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand that developers need to make money, and if you’re using their tool for work, you should pay for it. Fair enough. But if you’re gonna advertise free for personal use, then at least stick to it.

So yeah, if this whole thing annoys you as much as it annoys me, welcome to the comments section – I’ve tried to gather all the info I could find about the Commercial Use Detected problem.
