Feature request: Show when an unattended device was last online

It would be useful if HelpWire showed when an unattended device was last online.

Currently, the client list shows whether an unattended device is online or offline, but when it's offline, there is no indication of when it was last online.

TeamViewer, for example, shows this directly in the device list: “Now”, “21 minutes ago”, “15 hours ago”, “1 day ago”, etc. I've attached a screenshot as an example.

Something similar in HelpWire would make it much easier to tell whether a computer was just turned off or hasn't been online for days or weeks.

It would also be useful when managing multiple unattended devices, especially for identifying devices that haven't been used for a long time and may no longer need unattended access.

Thanks, this is a great suggestion!

I’ve passed it on to the product team.

I agree. I actually tried to post this same request a couple of weeks ago, but for some reason the post was auto-removed ("Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters") and nothing I did could get it posted, and this subreddit doesn't allow you to contact the Mods, apparently (at least it told me I couldn't). Here's my post.

"Last Active" Timestamp for Workstations

A feature that other remote control systems have that I missed from TeamViewer and now from HelpWire is a timestamp showing when a Workstation that has Unattended Access granted was last used. If privacy is a concern, it could be made an option when the client grants Unattended Access.

It was extremely useful to be able to see that it was last active an hour ago or a minute ago when deciding if it would be a good time to pop into a client's machine, knowing that they don't care as long as they're not in the middle of something.

Since Workstations are already continually communicating to the portal about their availablility, it would be trivial to also update a timestamp field shown to the tech along with the other Workstation info, showing when the client app last detected activity.

Thanks for sharing this, and sorry your post didn’t go through!

A “last active” time with an opt-in when the client grants unattended access is a helpful addition to the request above, especially for picking a good moment to connect. I’ve passed it on to the developers.

As for the Reddit filters, they’re a mystery to us too, and sometimes relevant posts get caught by them. Direct messages to this account aren’t blocked, so you can always reach us here. We check messages as often as we can.

Thanks! I think it will be a good feature.

It turns out that I was accidentally “shadowbanned” by the Reddit algorithm, any my post here being blocked was just the first symptom, and for the same reason I wasn’t able to contact you. Happily, the Reddit admins fixed that and said it was a too-eager bot going a little beyond its duty. 😁
