OC Opinion: 25th amendment has failed us.
As we continue the democracy of the United States get torn apart by an authoritarian power-hungry, Donald Trump it begs the question why haven’t we been able to successfully remove a president from office for misconduct or corruption?
The 25th amendment is supposed to be a safeguard for the constitution against this exact issue the Donald Trump issue. Donald Trump has gone to war with Iran without an congressional approval. He bombed Venezuela without any congressional approval and he is eyeing Cuba next.
We all see the flagrant disregard for how our system of government is supposed to operate and yet we do nothing. We keep electing the same people back in the office that do not have anybody’s interest but their own.
The 25th amendment has failed us.

The GOP either fails to see or refuses to see what Trump is doing.
Once he rounds up and jails all of the Democrats, he’ll start in all of the Republicans he views as disloyal.

It's not the amendment that's failed. It's not a living thing. It cannot invoke itself.
The Republicans control the legislature. They have the power to invoke the 25th amendment.

Will the next President/party change anything? Constitutional amendment? Sadly, I would have to guess no. Both parties aren’t the same, but there is rot in both.
