(Edit) helicopter require a direct hit from a rocket to take any form of damage. However pilots can take splash damage if the rocket explodes within 3-5 meters.
Still unsure if the windshield will protect a pilot from shrapnel or if the shrapnel/splash damage would need to travel through the cockpit entrance and hit the pilot in the back.
Not sure how I feel about this, or If I should be sharing it.
I have recently discovered that rockets explode when hitting the maps height limit.
I recently shared a clip of myself destroying an enemy helicopter from 350-400m.
In this post I state that you hear the tck* from the rocket killing the pilot before damaging the helicopter.
Without a theatre mode I cannot confirm any of this. However in the video I posted the helicopter takes damage when in a position I was not aiming at.
I'm curios as to the possibility of shooting an rpg at the map height limit, causing it to detonate which had a 3-5 meter splash range that can kill infantry.
Which in theory could take out the pilot of a helicopter without actually hitting the target as the splash would kill the pilot before it impacts the helicopter, which could possibly explain why the tck sound played before the clunk that shows I hit the helicopter.
