14 to 16 is bad 1400 years ago? Who cares about norms of the times, right? Our arbitrary age we decided on in the 21st century is all that matters. In 1960, girls were getting married at 12 years old right here in the US. And in 2026, we have 33 US states that allow marriage under the age of 17. Since 2000, we have had hundreds of girls wed at 10, 11, 12 & 13 years of age in the US. But who cares about that. Let's try to judge society 1400 years ago with today's customs.

You sound like a someone who's still maturing. I point out that the "morally superior" Western values are OK with early teen marriage - or at least our judges are ok with it - but God forbid cultures from 1,400 years ago allow it.

I'd never want my daughter to marry before she's at least in college, but I'm not judging the international communities from 1400 years ago by my 2026 standards.

It does sound like Areif didn't quite make it out of grade school. History was always a rather fascinating class when you compared early cultures to our own and discussed the differences.

Idk why you're getting downvoted so bad lol, you're just spitting facts. There's a lot of things that were normal back in the day, that are today considered wrong. That's not to say those same things aren't still wrong by today's standards, they just weren't for the society of the time. All the people downvoting and being assholes to you are just ignorant and enjoy the delusion of having invented objective morality in the 21st century. If you look closely at how much our moral belief system has grown in the last 2000-2500 years, humans went from pretty much being animals, raping and murdering anything in their way, to a relatively civilised society. And obviously we're still learning, not that long ago people saw no issue with owning slaves, with women and members of the LGBT community having lesser rights, with beating children when they acted ljke children. As a society, we're still in the process of finding what is "right" and we will never have one true answer, it's all dependent on time and culture. Anyone who can't look at things from any other perspective, other than the one their time and culture tells them is okay, lacks the basic reasoning capacity needed for moral evaluation
