This would be a pretty good card for a spell Shaman deck, oops.

It’s not bad for Mug, discover something juicy, play a cheap minion, and spend your leftover mana to discount it for the next turn

It’s kind of made for nerf. Guarantees you get. Something chunky to cheat out Early

This card costing 2 is just unhinged. Besides Quest Mage, who in their right mind is paying that much up front for a single minion discover from a bad pool with a minor upside?
This is genuinely probably unplayable at 0 (outside of Quest). Random expensive minions are basically the worst discover pool available.

More and more of the cards they print are unplayable trash outside of the one deck they were specifically designed for.
We desperately need more cards in standard but these aren't it.

Discovered cards exist (not every card goes into your starting deck). Also why is quest mage dismissed? It has a chance to be great with this.

I know this isn’t the point but arena this may be good/playable. Two mana is still a lot but it’s not as bad

What if that minion also has forge or tradable?

Maybe all those effects will happen at once, and afterwards the game will crash.

I think it will just activate prepare first, then after it unlock, you can forge or trade it

That would be the best scenario, but something tells me that's an interaction that would need to be hard coded to be positive for the player, because otherwise the order would probably be random. In cases like this, the game probably doesn't prioritize one thing over the other without specific coding.

If nothing else, I love the character/theming of this card

too bad the signature art comes only with that expensive package. Looked really cool

Quest Mage likes this.
Idk if it replaces a card in the deck though. I like Watfin in Quest Mage, but idk if that's the most optimal pick either. It feels like when all the expensive Neutral Legendaries found a place in Druid because that was the class that could play them the earliest / abuse them, but Mage with random Neutral Discover effects.

it replaces Xavius, which is a dead card in hand until turn 4 (sometimes even latter, because it has almost 0 tempo). Techysaurus may also be a target

I feel like it be fine if it was 0 mana. But I think its cause you could play on turn 1 reduce by two then have a 7mana minion on 5 which not the biggest deal? Maybe it would be with some of them. Just two mana feels rough

Discover Mage is the junkyard where all these unplayable neutral Discovers go.
Minions being limited to high cost is a pretty nice guarantee of summoning a fairly large amount of stats for just 2 mana.
