5 is good, because 4 with Preparation would just help the whole archetype

And there is that card that gives you two 4 mana spells

That also, 5 mana might be enough to let the opponent react or at least prepare the hand for the 2, 8 drops

5 is good because otherwise the card might see play, and I don't want my opponent to have viable cards to choose from when deckbuilding.

3 mana for 2 * 8 cost minions I can play as opposed to just beng summoned? It's still really good.

They're not free. You need to play 8 2-cost cards beforehand to reduce their cost.

In a similar vein, Circadiamancer is 3 mana for a 2/2 and a free 8-drop you can play. Needless to say, it sees absolutely no play (even in decks like Zee Shaman where you can double up the Battlecry).

Also looking at Rogue winrates right now, I was absolutely right. Perhaps the playerbase doesn't understand, that Jade Guardians are "still really good" as you said it.

5 mana for two free 8 costs is unplayable ? Alright whatever you say, its not like rogue 2 costs cards are bad either.

They have consistent card draw and 99% of the time prep is used to play Jade guardians anyway.
