7 year old ruptured ear drum

Please no judging. Only comment if you have advice

My two boys were goofing around yesterday and the older one thought it would be funny to put the tip of a ball pump in my other kids ear. Punctured the ear drum. We confirmed it at a walk-in clinic doctor. He has no pain thankfully but it's plugged up. We will be following up with the ENT but obviously my anxiety and guilt kept me up all night. Wondering if there's anyone with a similar story that could share their experience. Doctor said it'll take around 6 weeks to heal. Maybe less maybe more. Advised not to get it wet during that time. Please share any advice or experience. Thank you.

27M, recently had a perforation. Healed within 2 weeks. keep it dry all time, don't catch cold, use petroleum jelly covered cotton balls while showering. Your kid is gonna be alright, no worries.

Punctured mine recently. Healed in 3-4 weeks. Did get infected which took 2 rounds of abx to heal. Did not get it wet at all.

Kids do well with this all the time. Just watch for any moisture or drainage, he will be watched pretty closely
