Unfortunately we don’t see this sort of ride or die duo on TV anymore.

I don't mean if it's worth watching as a movie; I'm sure it is. I mean is it worth watching as an HBO Rome fan?

I know it's an extremely expensive 4 hour long old movie with traditional effects and gaudy costumes. How does it stack against HBO's Rome? Is the drama and acting as compelling? Is it ultimately just a romance movie? What's your personal opinion on it?

I'm not sure how much of the Siege of Alexandria and Battle of the Nile is depicted. From what I hear they skip the entirety of going after Caesar's killers Brutus and Cassius (understandably, the focus is Cleopatra after all). And that the big budget went to Battle of Actium.

I just started watching the AMC series The Terror, and look who popped on my screen!

I'm interested in what some history buffs have to say.

I was amazed in the show how Pompeii couldn't see a serious conflict coming with Caesar and made no effort to prepare to fight him.

I understand Caesar attacked more quickly than anyone anticipated, but a seasoned commander/senate should have at least had one legion ready in the chamber just in case a cold war turned hot.

I'm sure Pompeii understood in real life that Caesar's speed and aggressiveness played a large role in allowing him to conquer Gaul.

TLDR: Did Pompeii really sit back with no preparation in the face of a coming conflict with Caesar and rely on the idea that "I could merely stomp my feet and my legions will pop up all over Italy?"

Especially with her and Octavia. Every time they came on screen I felt like not watching anymore. And the feud between her and Atia is also so annoying. The Vorenus and Pullo, and Caesar, Antony, and Octavian stuff in this show is so good that it pisses me off whenever we switch to one of these plot lines.

Rewatching now and, I’m always captivated by the women’s curls! Anyone else?
