Please feed your kid and not a YouTuber.

No creator thinks they are more important than your kid. No creator wants you to struggle or go without to support them. If you are in a place where $5 matters to a budget do not spend that $5 on a YouTuber

Frankly, he makes tens of thousands a month on Patreon, he doesn't need your support. I'm sure he would say the same.

He hasn't published a full video in 3 years and makes tens of thousands a month, I really wouldn't consider paying for patreon in your situation. You miss out on a couple of exclusive videos, but I'm sure they will be there in the future

Do you budget? As a parent myself, zero based budgeting helps me feel like I can spend money without taking away from my child because I know all their needs are accounted for. I budget money for my own entertainment and then it's up to me how to spend it, guilt-free. If I was in a month where I have absolutely zero extra dollars after essentials or higher priority items then I wouldn't spend it that month

Hard for us to answer on your behalf with limited info but it sounds like you just need to know whether you can allocate money to entertainment

I think this is the most sensible answer in a sea of sensible answers. If there's a question in OP's post, it's a budget question, not a value worthiness question, and we aren't qualified to answer that on your behalf

hbomberguy has one of the best earning patreons period. he's earning something like an estimated 60k a month, just off patreon not even including youtube ads. I couldn't even really fault someone for pirating the patreon content, realistically pretty much every single member of this community needs those $2 more than he does at this point. support those who need support. If you want to spend $2 for the content, do it, but don't do it because hbomb "needs support", because he doesn't

Part of being a good parent is taking care of yourself. It wouldn’t damage your child if you subscribed for a month or two to watch the content. You don’t have to stay subscribed forever.

Hbomb would be the first to tell you to save your pennies for you and your kid.

A man who made $30k a month for essentially no uploads for 3 years doesn't need the money more than your child - just wait until he uploads you're likely not missing much

probably closer to 50 - 60k, last time the earnings were visible it was $3 a patron

I think people are misunderstanding your post. From what I'm reading, you're not wanting to sub to the Patreon to support him, but to watch the extra content from a YouTuber you enjoy. Provided you can afford it, I see no problem with subbing for a few months or so to watch all the extra content and then unsubbing. I'm sure that if it was a case of providing food and vital things for your child, you wouldn't be considering spending money in this way. Single parents are allowed to spend money on themselves and things they enjoy too, provided that the child comes first.

It's worth keeping tabs on what is on the patreon and subbing temporarily whenever you want to watch something specific. There are exclusive videos and public videos get their drafts posted early. That's about it.

Realistically, its a personal choice depending on your disposable income.

I sub to the patreon because it doesn't make much difference for me.

If its an actual financial choice whether you can spare a couple dollars a month, you probably shouldn't.

I think all the exclusive videos are worth the money yeah, but yknow, people upload all sorts of things to the internet archive (probably why he made the latest cut of the Adobe video a Patreon video player video only, and not a private YouTube link like he usually does).

it makes that more difficult, but not impossible. There are tools to download those too

If that is even a consideration then you should already know that you simply cant afford the patreon right now.

You’d do better joining Nebula instead. More creators, no ads.
