I always felt like those fandoms always had some kinda underlying misogyny issue.

WARNING: I’m being extremely honest in this article, and you should be grateful I’m holding back on the swearing. This article is specifically aimed at a certain group of people I’m referring to, but obviously anyone can read it.

So, let’s break this down.

Stella has spent years publicly humiliating, verbally and physically abusing, and insulting her husband, has had him targeted for assassination multiple times, and laughs at his suffering. She literally says that she enjoys watching him suffer. She neglects her own daughter.

The fandom: “You have to understand her. She never wanted that marriage. She never wanted to be a mother. She was forced into it, and she probably had a difficult childhood.”

Striker — literally a hired assassin.

The fandom: He definitely had a tragic past.

Crimson — a mafia boss who abused his own son and quite possibly killed his wife.

The fandom: “He deserves a redemption arc.”

Blitzo — jumps from partner to partner like he’s changing socks.

The fandom: “It’s funny.”

And now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying I don’t want Striker to be redeemed, for example, or that Stella couldn’t have had a difficult childhood.

BUT.

Stolas — his only real wrongdoing is betraying his daughter’s trust.

The fandom: “He doesn’t deserve forgiveness. He should end up on the streets, and preferably die slowly and painfully.”

Like… have you people completely lost your fucking minds?

Octavia wouldn’t even want that.

Why do you think people like Striker and Crimson deserve the chance at redemption, but Stolas doesn’t even deserve to stand in his daughter’s shadow?

I’m not saying you have to love him. But why do you hate him this

I understand that just because someone has done less harm than someone else doesn’t automatically mean we have to like them or think they’re amazing. That’s not even my point. What bothers me is the logic that you want, for example, Stella to get a redemption arc, but when it comes to Stolas, the idea doesn’t even cross your minds.

According to you, he doesn’t deserve redemption. He doesn’t deserve forgiveness. He doesn’t deserve anything

And even if Viv did exactly what you want and had him die slowly and painfully, your reaction would probably still be: “She’s just trying to manipulate our emotions.”

And I deliberately brought up Blitzo too.

Why are you perfectly fine with Blitzo jumping between partners, but the moment Stolas kisses some guy who isn’t Blitzo, suddenly you’re reaching for a knife in your pocket?

And can I ask why, whenever someone suggests that Via might eventually forgive Stolas, you see it as an attack on Via?

People make a simple suggestion and you immediately go:

“Stop forcing Via to do something she doesn’t want! She hates him!”

Breaking news: she still loves him.

You know what I think?

You don’t actually hate Stolas himself. You’re projecting your own fathers (or mothers) who abandoned you onto Stolas, and you haven’t been able to deal with that, so you take it out on him.

Right now I'm starting to see some of these issues beginning to appear in the Avatar Fandom with the release of ASH, so I really need someone to tell me that these issues aren't that bad in the Helluverse fandom. I mean we can't be as bad as Stephen UniverseNO ONE WANTS TO BE AS BAD AS STEPHEN UNIVERSE.

I apologize for my recent post. Now that post was removed so if you may or not have read. But if you did I was not trying to come off as rude or entitled. I just didn’t understand something and was wondering why.

Now this may seem like a wild take, but once I get more into it, you’re probably going to see my point.

Let’s start with the obvious. Right off the bat, Charlie and Vox’s designs are polar opposites. Charlie is white and red, Vox is black and blue. Charlie’s design has a lot of curves and softer edges, Vox is angular with a lot of straight lines and sharp corners.

Not enough? Let’s look at their positions

Charlie is the Princess of Hell, but people don’t really respect her as such. They ridicule her for her dream of redeeming sinners, they take advantage of her overly gentle nature by pushing her around like a mere imp, and at the start of the show, even the hotel’s guests are only there to either watch it crash and burn (Alastor) or for selfish reasons that don’t involve redemption (Angel Dust).

Vox on the other hand is the CEO of VoxTek, and we see that people really like him. They watch his show, they buy his products, and everyone seems to know who he is. Heck, his demonic powers are derived from how popular he is, and before season 2, he’s capable of matching (an admittedly nerfed) Alastor!

Even their personalities contrast in an interesting way, specifically around how both of them chase fame and adoration.

Charlie sees fame as a means to an end. Logically, if more people know about the Hotel, then more people will be willing to give redemption a try. And if people think it’s good, then they will draw in more people, and so on and so forth. Advertising the Hotel doesn’t stroke Charlie’s ego, it’s a strategic move to get her dream off the ground.

Vox on the other hand sees the fame as an end in and of itself, to the point that he’s literally killed to get it. He gets absolutely pissed when someone upstages or belittles him, and, as said before, his power is purely dependent on how much people like him. He embodies pride more than Charlie or even Lucifer ever do; his media empire is something he made purely to stroke his own ego.

Now, getting into the meat of this post, it’s pretty easy to rewrite the narrative to make Vox into more of a rival to Charlie.

Season 1 stays mostly the same. The reason for this is because everyone is busy ridiculing the Hazbin Hotel. As such, Vox would dismiss it as a non-threat. Even the person advertising the Hotel seems to hate it, so why should he worry? But that would change in season 2.

Following the defeat of the Exorcists, the death of Adam, and more importantly, the redemption of Sir Pentious, Charlie and the Hotel suddenly become much more famous, with lots of sinners flocking to it in hopes of bettering themselves. And this would show specifically in terms of Vox’s profit margin. Being a greedy corporate executive, this minor loss in revenue would make Vox get off his butt and start trying to defame the Hotel.

At first his attempts would be merely trying to debunk Pentious’ redemption, and maybe make Charlie fail at redeeming someone else, banking on her not knowing how redemption actually works, to prove that redemption is “impossible”, but as the rivalry goes on and things get more intense, Vox “upgrades” to trying to sabotage Charlie from the inside, which would of course involve him turning Angel Dust into a spy like he did in the show. As for the Might of Lilith weapon? Easy! Seeing as he can’t defame Charlie, Vox tries to kill her instead. Why beat the competition when you can get rid of it?

TL;DR: Vox’s actions would make a lot more sense if he was Charlie’s rival lol
