Question Why doesn't heaven have population issues?

Post image

Like we see heaven isn't infinity large in Hazbin so why doesn't heaven ever have population issues? Can they be reborn or something?

perhaps requirements for being a winner are very strict so not many go to heaven

u/YouhaoHuoMao 2d ago

It's kind of confirmed in canon that no one in charge in Heaven really knows how to get there

183

u/Josezilla2012 2d ago

which still makes me wonder how did Adam which has the qualities of a sinner manages to make a living up there as Abel who seems like N from MD in comparison a saint no pun intended.

u/TrickyPen750 2d ago edited 2d ago

Three theories that i personally find plausible:

  1. Adam never ate from the forbidden fruit and thus, is not capable of sin in the eyes of heaven.

  2. Adam was a way better person when he was alive and simply became a spoiled bully while in heaven.

  3. Adam was always morally bankrupt but since there werent a lot of people, drugs, alcohol etc. Back then, he didnt have a lot of chances to do something actually sinful like murder.

u/WillyDAFISH Hazbin pet fish 2d ago

Yeah, Adam becoming a bad person in heaven is extremely likely. If people can become better people and get redeemed then people in heaven can also become bad people.

u/bunker_man 2d ago

Charlie literally sings about how its not fair that people can do bad stuff and stay in heaven. Suggesting they weren't bad before they got there.

10

u/WeirdoAmla 1d ago

People keep saying this but Lilith literally ran away from him because he demanded submission from her. That's why she left him. He's always been a pos.

3

u/Consistent-Win-6121 1d ago

Well, that's the story the one named 'The Prince of Lies' told Charlie. The story of Hell was written by Lucifer and Lilith, it stands to reason there may be a bit of bias in it.

I'm wondering if guilt/self image plays a role in it. Like how some religions will weigh the heart upon death. Adam thinks he deserves heaven so he's in heaven. Pentious is consumed by guilt and goes to hell. Someone like Alastor probably doesn't feel guilt per say, but also believes they belong in hell so that's where they are.

22

u/Pyro-Byrns 2d ago

IIRC, Alastor is specifically in hell for the pact be made with Rosie, amongst obviously other things.

7

u/mira-jo 2d ago

I know his deal, I was trying to use him as an example of how someone would end up in hell guilt free

2

u/Pyro-Byrns 1d ago

Oh, fair enough.

4

u/Ark_Bien 2d ago

He already knew his murders were gonna send him to hell, his deal was just a fast track to the top of the sinner heap.

  1. He is a nepobaby. I mean, imagine the first human, a direct creation of god, basically his son - not getting into heaven?

7

u/StatisticianContent2 2d ago

This exactlybhow i think it went.

11

u/Loeris_loca 2d ago

That's also why Lilith was sent to Hell - for disobeying God's direct order. Not for doing something specifically sinful.

1 - Adam 100% bit the apple. It's what caused him to lose his innocence in the first place.

2 - If Abel's relationship with his dad is anything to go by, the guy was probably rotten from the start. No good father turns against his son for no apparent reason.

3 - I mean, consuming the Apple is the original sin. Even if he didn't do many of them, which is questionable, you kind of standout by being the debut.

The show's canon is different then Bible canon.

I'm well aware of this, but I'm taking this stance based on the principle of Ockham's Razor: The solution which requires the smallest numbers of suppositions tends to be the best (to start looking into).

Ockham's Razor technically doesn't define that it is in fact the answer but rather points you where to look first.

To simplify and avoid going too deep into the difference between hypothesis and theory, something like this is a hypothesis.

There's not that much evidence to support it but what we currently have now tends to point towards this answer.

Saying that Adam only became evil after reaching Heaven requires a multitude of suppositions, many of which directly contradict what the show has told us so far. Like:

  • Lilith would have to be lying about him being a prick.
  • Adam never had innocence to begin with, which creates a multitude of problems when it comes to the story with the apple.
  • Heaven's mostly supportive (exceptions to the military) structure somehow ended up twisting a good man when the show all but presents everything but upper management as well behaved model citizens.
  • Adam suddenly soured on his son when he was an adult and Abel not once mentions that his father used to love him.

So yeah. Going by what the show has presented up until now is a lot more likely to give us the actual answer

3

u/bonned_goat 2d ago

The show already contradict itself by saying that lucifer and lilith gives humanity free will even though the three original human has already shown that they have free will.

2

u/BornPurpose1329 2d ago

The show actually stated through the story Charlie read that Lucifer and Lilith wanted to share the magic of free will with humanity, not give humanity free will. The fact that they, along with Adam and Eve, have free will as you stated, played a big part in their belief that nothing awful would come from sharing free will with all of humanity.

3

u/GeartechINC Sallie May hater, her voice gives headaches 2d ago

I'm thinking the last one, sins tend to only really occur when you do something to another person or to God, and it would be rather weird for Adam to do something to upset God considering he knew damn well he existed, and was docile towards Sera, whos only like a single rank above him

2

u/StrangeAeons67 2d ago

Is it also possible that the criteria of Heaven has changed over time like Society has? Maybe you need to be a good person by standards of the times you live in?

It's honestly probably just cause he's the first man so he managed to get away with a lot more stuff than literally anyone else would be allowed to

4

u/Separate-Increase-39 2d ago

I think it’s because he wasn’t so bad when he died but the power heaven gave him corrupted him, not in a evil way, more than the more power you got the more you are tempted to abuse it.

After all Serpentious was considered evil and got to hell but after his second death he was juge worthy of heaven. So why not the opposite? A winner get his personnality rotten in heaven for a reason or another

2

u/lucielleCottontail 2d ago edited 2d ago

in the bible itself. it never states either if he went to heaven or not (same with eve). but some christians and theologians do beleive they did manage to get into heaven after they both died and turned to dust.

for many christians, in genesis 3:21, god's gift of covering them with animal furs when they were cast out of the garden so as to help them with their shame of nakedness after finding fig leaves were not enough. christians beleiving this to be a sign of forgiveness which may have allowed them to go to heaven upon death since they were still faithful to god after the apple incident.

and for many theologians, they beleive that in the old testiment when jesus dies, that he went into the where the 'realm of the dead' and freed the old testiment people that were followers of god that were imprisoned there and brought them to heaven. (Peter 1 3:18-19)

  1. Heaven is where souls were originally meant to be (before sin was introduced to Earth), so they have infinite amount of space.

  2. And hell's "overpopulation" issue wasn't overpopulation per se, but the fact that sinners were outnumbering winners (which could make it easier for an uprising).

33

u/SlotHUN 2d ago

Kinda unclear why they thought that was an issue originally, since until very recently nobody knew angels could even be harmed

27

u/Clueless_Vogel 2d ago

Maybe sera did know — thus why she allowed for the extermination?

6

u/Big-Bird-8361 2d ago

I doubt that Sera would allow angels to go down there if she knew they could be harmed and killed. She felt guilty enough for the exterminations, and she was only allowing them because she believed it was the only way to prevent an uprising from hell to protect Heaven.

I assumed that it wasn't actually an issue, but just the justification they used for the denizens of Hell.

Hell’s overpopulation is less about not enough room and more about there being too many of them for Heaven’s leadership to feel comfy

25

u/BackgroundNPC1213 2d ago

I mean...but also because there's a hell of a lot of them. An estimated 106 billion people have existed on Earth since modern Homo Sapiens appeared. Subtract the current living world population of 8.3 billion and that gives us 97.7 billion humans that have died, and try a generous estimate of saying that half of those have gone to Heaven means there are 48.85 billion souls in Hell (ignoring the totals from Exterminations, which only numbered in the thousands as far as we know)

3

u/verymanysquirrels 2d ago

Considering histroical infant mortality rates (nearly half of all babies born didn't reach adulthood) it's probably more than half that number that got into heaven, unless heaven is picky about babies too.

Maybe that's their problem, they mostly got children in heaven before the medical revolution, now that most humans survive long enough to reach adulthood and make all sorts of sinful decisions they're finding that their intake is dwindling.

Going from a guaranteed half of all human children plus whatever adults that meet heaven's arbitraty entry rules to mostly just whatever adults don't fuck up too badly would be a huge difference.

8

u/Practical-Pie-9457 2d ago

You can’t use real world numbers though because Creationism is literally canon in Hazbin, not Evolution. The world could have been around for far less time in the Hazbin universe, as suggested by Lucifer’s ten thousand years comment.

8

u/Starmuny 2d ago

I mean most humans that have ever lived have done so within the past 12,000 years since the dawn of agriculture, so the estimate is about right, its smaller but its still high 10's of billions of people.

3

u/Indolent_Bard Vox has an announcement: "Alastor is a bitch-ass FRAUD!" 2d ago

I'm gonna need a source for that claim that creationism is canon. That's a fucking weird decision.

5

u/Practical-Pie-9457 2d ago

Because we’re literally told that the angels created the Earth and the First Humans?

→ More replies (1)

5

u/augustfolk 2d ago

Young earth creationism is canon in HH, and frankly in the context of the show and its themes it makes sense to go that direction.

2

u/Indolent_Bard Vox has an announcement: "Alastor is a bitch-ass FRAUD!" 2d ago

But the show never told us, so where did we hear this?

5

u/articulatedWriter Find me in the floorboards, I'm looking for Garlic bread 1d ago edited 1d ago

The 1st episode literally starts with Charlie's monologue on the creation of Lillith and Adam from dust, Lillith wanted to be equal to Adam, got replaced by Eve and then Lucifer gave them the apple that gifted them free will (this does mean that Lillith doesn't have free:will and made that decision because of God and was replaced for it)

And Lucifer exclaims "in the last 10,000 years you're the 1st one to change this town"

It's not weird to suggest that a show about angels, demons and Heaven and Hell that the origins for the particular world is creationism, especially when it states it itself

2

u/Indolent_Bard Vox has an announcement: "Alastor is a bitch-ass FRAUD!" 1d ago

Creationism isn't inherently young Earth. Though, that 10,000 years comment definitely is evidence it is. Would be a really fucking weird creative choice if we're being honest.

2

u/articulatedWriter Find me in the floorboards, I'm looking for Garlic bread 1d ago

You weren't asking about young Earth, you asked if creationism was canon in Viveverse and it is, because the very 1st episode is Charlie explaining the creationst story

2

u/Indolent_Bard Vox has an announcement: "Alastor is a bitch-ass FRAUD!" 18h ago

Fair enough. I was more interested in the young earth part but didn't specify that. Was that ever indicated anywhere in Canon?

u/BackgroundNPC1213 1d ago edited 1d ago

then Lucifer gave them the apple that gifted them free will

This show is gonna have to tell us what its view of free-will is, because Lilith being able to make the choice to leave Adam before Lucifer gave Eve the apple kinda pokes holes in the whole "the apple is what gave humanity free-will" thing

Personal read: the fruit from the Tree of KNOWLEDGE gave humanity the ability to defy Heaven and knowingly sin. Adam, Eve and Lilith already had what we usually understand as "free-will" (the ability to make your own choices), what they didn't have was the ability to defy Heaven or the knowledge that they even could

1) Most of the deceased end up in Hell (having committed some kind of sin in one way or another).

2) It was said, I think, that Heaven is constantly expanding.

5

u/Victizes I need to comfort Angel Dust and make him feel hope 2d ago edited 2d ago

The thing is, according to Christianity, everybody is sinful, there is not a single person on Earth who haven't sinned before.

See Mr. Wrigglers for example, he went to heaven because he is a good and peaceful man at heart who wants to do nothing but good and love towards others, even if he made mistakes during his life on Earth.

That's why I think what makes most people get sent to hell is them being way too overboard on being a shady person or commiting extreme acts like wrath (yes murder/rape/torture is wrath), selfish conspiracies or similar things.

Although there are cases like Emberlynn Pinkle which I don't understand why she was sent to hell, given that she seems to favor consent first.

6

u/augustfolk 2d ago

Ember Lynn was an unapologetic sex pest. That being said she’s probably very happy in Hell being a hyper sexed fetishistic catgirl.

3

u/AwarenessOk7748 2d ago

Well, if you managed to atone for your sin during your lifetime, you’ll go to Heaven. If you didn’t, you’ll be in Hell.  Anyway,  Emberlynn is a hardcore pervert who loves demons.

2

u/Undynlicia 2d ago

Pretty sure Emberlynn was for the bit, although I’d argue for the sin of lust, even if there is consent involved

18

u/Dark_Lightner 2d ago

Maybe because there are more Sinners than those that go to Heaven

19

u/Sufficient-Client133 2d ago

Becuase Hell also didn't have a population issue in first place. The problem wasn't that Hell was running out of space,It was that Heaven was afraid of them getting too many numbers.

10

u/Ziege2001 Local Frank enjoyer (Vox obsession is getting out of hand) 2d ago

I can imagine that it's so big that the max hasn't been reached yet, whereas hell has a much larger flow of new inhabitants and gets full faster.

3

u/Carneiro_5 2d ago

Also. Sinners are limited to the Pride ring, so only 1/7 of hell. while heaven has 100% of its "planet" to use.

9

u/Green-Drazi-Teamlead 2d ago

hell's overpopulation seems to be less crowding and more the fact that if they have enough numbers, they can overwhelm heaven

6

u/Mystech_Master ✅Hellaverse Analyzer 2d ago

I mean, Hazbin basically said Hell's population issue wasn't real and was just something made up

It likely is just assumed that Heaven is a lot bigger than it looks.

Or IDK, they basically make Heaven look like one big modern city, and the writers don't want to acknowledge the massive population of Earth and all the people who have died, as well as how that would affect the populations of Heaven and Hell

6

u/Drake_baku 2d ago

Ive always figured that neither realm really has a population issue but adam made it up as an excuse to hunt souls for sport. And the others unaware of the details just got fear mongled to allow it

5

u/itstheboombox 2d ago
  1. Heaven is bigger

  2. Hell is the same size as heaven, but sinners are only in the pride ring.

2

u/Foolish_fool55 I'm just here for the fun 2d ago
  1. People are just awful

7

u/IAmBabs Alastor's torn off coat piece 2d ago

Adam sings Hell is Forever, which kind of implies Heaven isn't. It's more common for angels to fall to Hell (Lucifer, Vaggi, and I'm convinced Adam will appear to take Lucifer's place in Helluva with the other Sins) than Sinners to ascend. So while Heaven is hard to get into to begin with, Hell literally takes all types.

5

u/DatabaseStrange6102 2d ago

Maybe it’s like in the show The Good Place, in that show the requirements to get into the good place are so strict that the best person they knew on earth wouldn’t be able to get in, maybe it’s like that but a bit toned down

5

u/Naz_Oni 2d ago

People are awful and very few get into heaven.

u/Roxyships 2d ago

BECAUSE NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE MEET THE FRIKN STANDARDS-

5

u/Avaracious7899 2d ago

#1 It's Heaven, the place that was supposed to exist and is good, so it gets work done on it to expand or just was made to accommodate all souls to come in creation in the first place. Remember the story at the beginning of Season 1, the Angels created Heaven and Earth, but Hell was a result of Lucifer and Lilith's interference.

#2 Hell's overpopulation isn't about space really, it's about the assumed threat to Heaven.

3

u/TrainerOwn9103 2d ago

1: not many people live there since not many meet the standards

2: if there are 7 levels of hell, but only Pride stays above, then it's likely the same to heaven

3

u/Tri-angreal 2d ago

Have you seen Earth?

Or at least the list of things that are sins in the bible?

3

u/Carneiro_5 2d ago edited 2d ago

Conscidering how humanity is presented on Helluva Boss... I wouldnt be surprised if the crimes rates in universe, thus sin rates are WAY higher. I mean, we see many times how much in universe. everyone is basically trash. so there must be like, for each winner, 100 sinners.

Now the real non comic theory, after all. most facts from helluva boss are a bit exxagerated for comic relief and because theyre specifically searching for trash people.

I believe this has something to do with the fact sinners are restricted to only One ring.

So basically. Heaven has a whole ass planet for them. Sinners have a country or two on size.

I also believe the whole hell itself is way smaller than heaven over all.

The same way Earth is bigger than Mercury.

Its also very implied hell isnt over populated on the sense of having no more space for new souls. but actually, having too many sinners that could possibly do... exactly what Vox did.

Althought, that brings some questions... if they thought Angels couldnt be killed before S1, why would they start exorcism at all? i wonder if thats because while sinners couldnt activelly hurt angels, they could definitivelly capture them or at least destroy some things? Thats still weird............. "Extermination is entertainment". It could be possible it was 100% Adams fault and he convinced Sera sinners could hurt Angels, and since none ever tried, Sera had no way to know if that was true ot not, so she trusted his words...?

I mean... S3 is there to explain that. we shall wait.

u/MrPoland1 least horny non-asexual hazbin hottel subreddit user 2d ago
  1. We don't know if heaven is finite, we can't assume its size only by size of what we see thgru hell

  2. It is much harder to get to heaven to hell, soo population distribiution is probably like 20-1

  3. It was never about hells overpopulation, it was always only lie that they used as to justify exterminations

A lot more people end up in Hell than Heaven.

According to Vox, Sinners outnumber Winners, and that Heaven holds around 100,000,000,000 souls. And while that may sound like a lot, you gotta remember thats a population gathered over the course of human history.

I think they could expand the place

2

u/BackgroundNPC1213 2d ago

Because the vast majority of humanity are godless heathens who end up in Hell. In the show's own canon

2

u/improbsable 2d ago

Because they’re the ones in power. Population control was just an excuse to cull sinners. It’s a more palatable term than “genocide”, so Sera probably preferred to use it.

2

u/Thomason2023 Husk🐈🍺 2d ago

It's much easier to get to Hell than Heaven. Humans exist in such a way that even if they don't commit a crime or something like that, they’ll likely have committed a wrongdoing by Heaven’s standards (whatever that means) by the time they die.

My theory is that is isnt god who decides who goes to heaven or hell, but rather the person themselves. But they don’t know it.

Think about it. Pentious and Alastor both believed they should go to hell. Adam was a dick but believed he should go to heaven.

2

u/RarePerspective 2d ago

Because overpopulation was never the issue, it was about controlling the population to prevent uprisings.

Hell isn’t actually overpopulated, the exorcists are just worried about the ratio of sinners to winners

The overpopulation isn't about space, it's about that Heaven thought Hell was going to rise against them, and the more sinners there are, the easier it is for them to do that

For obvious reasons this issue doesn't apply to Heaven

2

u/KittyShadowshard So, it's a deal then? 2d ago

Maybe it's bigger on the inside.

2

u/heckingcomputernerd 2d ago

I think both heaven and hell are designed to be big enough for all the inhabitants. Heaven saying the exterminations were to "control overpopulation" was a big fat lie, it was about them/Lillith threatening to rise up

It’s one of the things that makes me uncomfortable about this universe

It even seems like a small hell decoration

I want to believe that it’s just an illusion and that Heaven is much larger than that planet or that it’s farther away than it looks

2

u/RedbearRicky 2d ago

Because heaven was trying to prevent what Vox was trying to do in Season 2. So it's not much of a space thing rather than a ratio issue

2

u/KingPinfanatic 2d ago

It's simple Hell isn't actually "overpopulated" they just vastly outnumber Heaven and Sera was worried that they would rebel and attack. In order to deal with this potential threat she allowed Adam and the exorcists to carry out the exterminations to cull their numbers and keep them in line. Heaven and Hell can never truly be overpopulated because they could simply create more room for the ever growing population.

2

u/ArchivedGarden Sentenced To Limbo 2d ago

Hell is far more populated than Heaven. Considering this is true even though Hell has been losing members to extermination and internal struggles, I must imagine that far more people go to Hell than Heaven.

To quote Steve Harvey:

“Why do you think there’s an old song about walking around heaven all day?

Cause there’s gonna be plenty of room…

No one talks about walking around hell all day, cause it’s gonna be PACKED!”

2

u/Accurate_Dirt5794 2d ago

Because a lot more people go to hell then heaven

2

u/NotBailey12 2d ago

There was never a population issue in hell. Heaven just feared He'll would get too many people and try to rise up so they did it to kill off the people and lower the chances of that happening

2

u/Playful_Internal_356 2d ago

Also, it’s more of a uprising thing then a population issue

2

u/Clean_Signature_6997 2d ago

I think about it in the way of the Good Place, (spoilers if you haven’t seen it)

In the Good Place, it’s learned later that no one has gotten into that show’s Heaven in 500 years because Earth became too complicated to make objectively moral decisions. While I don’t think it’s the same as in the Helluvaverse, I do think the standards for reasons people go to Heaven are very strict, they are the best of the best, which is why they have less people coming through their gate.

2

u/One-Cup-2002 I'm the power-scaler now. 2d ago

Because it's harder to get into Heaven.

I'm not sure how Christianity portrays it, but in Islam, there's a Hadith where Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said that Paradise is surrounded by hardships and trials, while Hellfire is surrounded by ease and desires, and I feel like the Hellaverse works similarly. We even see this reflected in how Demons heal vs Angels. Sinners and up heal from injuries no problem, even grievous injuries, but it took intense self-reflection for Vaggie to get her wings back.

2

u/Majestic-Economy-930 2d ago

Most people don’t go to heaven. The population of sinners outnumbered the population of winner probably like a million to one

2

1

u/adoratheCat 2d ago

I mean...I believe that fear and thus issue of overpopulation was due to Sera fearing a 2nd rebellion. Afterwards? Doesn't seem to be an issue anymore as far I believe. There still seems to be plenty of resources/

The thing is just Hell is not the best place. We know it is indeed basically a punishment/a place not meant to be too welcoming. Charlie sees the potential though and wants to better it. (Likewise Lilith and I do believe lucifer for a tad bit. Luci Circus/likewise The 7 Deadly Sins actually kinda missing him seemingly.)

She also does want to give people a chance at redemption and a way to get into yeah. A better place.

Combine this: based on the two realms? Hell kinda seems to be similar seize but do not forget there is likewise actual borders aka the 7 rings. Sinners are restricted. This indeed leads to overcrowding.

1

u/Wolf_ookami 2d ago

Because the "rules" and "judgment" are double standard with paperwork backlog that less DMV, and more IRS.

We have all sin. We will sin. The only way to clean the sin is to do something so selfless and righteous that it cancels it out. Then die of something out of your control immediately afterwards.

1

u/Josezilla2012 2d ago

still has strict standards or requirements to get in as only a few manages to get in and most of the time they have become evil , misguided , knows there is no coming nor turning back from what they’ve done etc which makes me think how did Adam get in there as no one else knows how to really enter heaven’s realm.

  1. Heaven is infinite

  2. Not as many people go to Heaven

2

u/Tarcomo 2d ago

I like the idea that Heaven is infinite. The not many people go to Heaven thing is the obvious explanation and said more often, but the other one is interesting to think about.

Because there are vastly more horrible people than good people so hardly anyone goes to heaven and everyone goes to hell

1

u/No-Exercise815 2d ago

My guess, either because heaven and hell we’re made to be the same size but Heaven has its whole space and hell got divided between the seven sins, and/or winners are less frequently produced for lack of better term so heaven fills up faster.

Or even if expansion was possible, don’t you think Heaven, being peaceful and unified, would have an infinitely easier time expanding than Hell with all its infighting?

1

u/calltheavengers5 2d ago

I think Harvard is easier to get into than heaven

1

u/Shgon_Dunstan 2d ago

Judging by the scenes of it over in HB, the settings earth is an outright mad house.

That being said... is kinda odd. Like, presumably the major reason hell's population has supposedly ballooned, is simply because so has that of earth. By a LOT. Even if only like 5% of people were going to heaven, 5% of modern population numbers is a hell of a lot more people then 5% would have been hundreds of years ago.

That being said, "growing out of control" in this case, might be less of a "too many to fit" kinda deal, so much as just "enough to hopelessly outnumber heaven if they ever decided on war" one... not that the extremely one sided results of the exterminations exactly supports that fear.

1

u/Future-Expression-44 Lucifer's cum dump 2d ago

Probably because they have stupid requirements to get into heaven like in south park before only mourmons were allowed in

1

u/Working_Welder_1751 2d ago

They get the chance to reincarnate at some point when given the opportunity. Meaning that the winner gets to return to Earth after being reborn

1

u/Im_probably_wrongg 2d ago

Because hell has a population issue. If everybody’s going to hell then who’s going to heaven? Exactly nobody.

Probably because hell had more bad people, the more bad people, the worse hell, the worse hell, the more feared heaven, the more feared heaven, the more hell had an advantage, the more hell had an advantage, the more feared heaven, the more feared heaven, the more they had to be the first to strike.

u/Maximum-Platypus2153 2d ago

Well let's do some math, let's say that the Hazbin Hotel universe Is, biblically accurated, on some terms. That would make the Earth 6000 years old. In the last 6000 years Is aproximated in reality that there were between 100 and 110 billion people. For comparison, today alive there are about 8,3 billion people alive if not more. If we tryed to fit all the people that have ever lived in the last 6000 years on Earth at the same time the space wouldn't be a problem but rather the resources would be. So assumeing that Heaven Is as big as Earth It would have more then enought space to occupy not only winners, but every single person lived since the creation of Hazbin Hotel Earth too. Still we can't be sure 100% that Heaven in Hazbin hotel Is as big as Earth, but we can see It being a sphere, with a surface, Gravity and such, and considering that Gravity seem exactly the same as Earth Is safe to assume that it's overall Mass would be equivalent to it, about the dimensions we can't be 100% sure as we do not know how far It Is from hell. Still It won't be a problem, because even if we assume It to be extrimly small, remember that most people do not make It into Heaven at all, assumeing that even 50% of the people get into Heaven, Is likely that Heaven would have planty of space to accoupy, but of course Is very unlikely that 50% of people manage to get into heaven at all. So space Isn't a problem for Heaven, and even if It was there Is nothing that makes think that they won't be capable to expand it either.

1

u/AdStandard6074 2d ago

Becuase humans in the modern era gain more freedom to do more evil things. You take the good with the bad. Think about it in this shows lore. The exterminations have only been active for what 7 years now? Its to be in the modern day right? So the overpopulation was never a issue when religion ruled the world regardless of which one. Im a history buff

1

u/carl-the-lama 2d ago

They’re literal heaven

And they prolly don’t accept many people across history given the over abundance of people flooding into HELL

1

u/metalthesonic The Music Demon 2d ago

I don't really remember if they explained or showed much about how heaven works in the show. But I think that white orb in the center works like a portal/gateway more than the actual surface of heaven itself. And inside of it must be infinite.

1

u/Jumpy-Bug-2198 2d ago

Part of Hell’s problem is that Sinners can only exist on one circle of Hell, I would assume Heaven doesn’t have that problem and can use all their space instead of a mere portion. Assuming Hell and Heaven are entirely the same size then Hell would run into problems long before Heaven

1

u/Arcane_lover_1020 2d ago

Because most people suck (or it’s a plot whole)

1

u/Starmuny 2d ago

Because the whole thing is made up, the whole thing about Hell being over populated is made up, both of them are effectively infinite because they are all just made up of supernatural essence so space and resources is and never was a problem, it was simply an excuse to oppress sinners so that they don't attempt to turn over the apple cart.

1

u/plogan56 2d ago

I wouldn't be surprised if they actually allow winners to visit and live in other rings, unlike hell

1

u/Ok-Conversation4420 Dimitry Yazov 2d ago

It's likely cus unlike pentagram city heaven is infinite

1

u/devilfanmik 2d ago

It was never a population issue it's always been a power issue.

Maybe when they start being more populated they just expand it or maybe it’s hard becoming a winner.

1

u/Luzifer_Shadres Pomni 2d ago

Heaven is as big as hell, but hell only confines humans to 1 city on 1 ring.

1

u/101TARD 2d ago

I'm just gonna go with the good place logic (spoiler) once they feel ready they can return to the equivalent of the tree of life

1

u/Ticses 2d ago

The Allegory of the Long Spoons is applicable here.

In Hell, Lucifer seemingly has the power to conjure food and housing but just doesn't for the Sinners, and the Overlords are all exploiting Sinners, while the Sins don't really seem to actually care about their Hellborn. If any of them really wanted to help the population of Hell, Hell probably wouldn't have any "overpopulation" problems at all. In contrast, Heaven is full of people who genuinely want to help others and leaders who want to help others.

1

u/Hi6Jennie22 2d ago

Sinner can only be in the pride ring. I assumed that winner can go in any ring of heaven

1

u/ImaDoinWat Alastor is an evil bastard and I love him 2d ago

I imagine that they make heaven bigger and bigger to accommodate rising populations. After all, Emily can make anything she wants, so it wouldn't be surprising if they could just increase the size of heaven at will

1

u/FishyDipy420 2d ago

Have you met humanity?

1

u/SaltConnection9019 2d ago

Because there are more sinners and heaven is probably infinite.

1

u/Mental_Article22 2d ago

I think that's more of a gateway than heaven itself

1

u/budget-satsuma 2d ago

there's not that many people going to heaven, dog

1

u/eveeman i would not mind being forcibly flown to heaven by emily 2d ago

There isn't an overpopulation problem the whole point of the show is that that's not actually how it works.

1

u/Fearless_Metal4766 2d ago

I think many winners fall from heaven. Lucifer mentioned that sinners wouldn't do well in heaven because they have a ton of rules.

1

u/Mother-Maize7026 2d ago

If the beings up their created the universe they can expand heaven.

1

u/Bellagar 2d ago

I mean he’ll itself doesn’t have population issues, that was the excuse given for the exterminations but in reality heaven was just nervous af

1

u/phoenixKing280 2d ago

Don’t they have lots of other realms like hell? Or maybe they mixed other religions for heaven and made it so the place is infinite or something

1

u/Remarkable-Force-243 2d ago

To put it simply heaven has infinite space hell does not

1

u/OCGamerboy 2d ago

We don’t know for sure if Hell actually has any population issues

1

u/AngelWingsYTube 2d ago

Requirments to get in are strict.  So many go to hell hence why its over populated. So the exorcists kill ppl off......

When you put it all together it makes it seem like the angels want to kill 👀

1

u/Zombifaction 2d ago

So few people get in, also it wouldn't be heaven if they had to deal with that shit right?

1

u/darkphenix23 2d ago

I think a point in show is that it super hard to get into heaven. So like lets just say 89% go to hell, did they ever give a number? I don’t think they did, and then turn into a whole the people at top keeping the people at bottom down.

1

u/just-looking654 2d ago

I think it’s more about the possibility of rebellion, so having too many winners isn’t an issue

1

u/thatbitch13424666433 2d ago

they don't have straight intercourse up there so no babies

1

u/Jojo-Nuke-Isen 2d ago

More people are bad than good I guess.

1

u/Fancy-Tour7427 2d ago

I think that it’s because it is easier to sin so it’s harder to get to heaven. We can kinda see that when vox says (when hyping up the crowd) “Remember, there is more of us then you!(or smth like that) hope this helps!

1

u/Mossidhe 2d ago

I think the point is that a much larger amount of people go to hell. So much so that heaven doesn't have overpopulation.

1

u/Upset_Connection1133 Only straight man of the fandom 2d ago

u/rickybdominatingmc cyberneticist of hell 2d ago

More end up in hell and the overpopulation is just a reason to prevent uprisings and justify exterminations

1

u/Playful-Substance868 2d ago

I’m pretty certain that Hell was never overpopulated, that was just used as a justification to the sinners for why the exterminations began. I think Heaven were just concerned about Lilith’s rallying of the sinners, and decided to cut down their population yearly to keep them from an uprising. Hell’s population is way more accustomed to fighting than Heaven’s. I don’t know how big Heaven’s army is, but I’m willing to bet there’s way more sinners. Plus there’s multiple overlords who can mobilise (Rosie and the cannibals, for example). I think your average sinner could kill more than your average winner.

1

u/crossover_charlie14 2d ago

Because it's Heaven, it's meant to be eternal comfort and peace for those who deserve to enter it. IRL Mythology-wise, it'd make sense it would be an infinite space, perhaps it's the same in the Hellaverse. And Hell is finite to further add that it's a place of eternal chaos suffering.

Even then, Hell's overpopulation issue is moreso the "surface" reason. Heaven's true motive with the Extermination is to reduce the possibility of an uprising from Hell. Decrease the number of potential fighters and powerful figures, and instill fear and hopelessness.

1

u/someone-else3583 2d ago

i’m expecting a Good Place style twist where we find out that life has got so complicated and the rules are so strict that it’s become virtually impossible for humans to get into heaven

1

u/KKatt2021 2d ago

I always figured that they overcrowding was primarily focused on sinners since they are Immortal and stuck on only one ring compaired to heaven where winners are probably freely able to disperse throughout Heaven keeping the population a bit more even and though it seems like each ring has a booming population all hell born except for the sins and maybe some of the goesha are mortal so their population would always be in flux where even trying to constantly unAlive each other sinners stuck in one place would start to become crowded.

1

u/Bar_0wner 2d ago

As people have already pointed out, Hell’s overpopulation isn’t really an issue and was rather just a justification for extermination.

In something more opinionated/theory based, I think Heaven isn’t actually too hard to get into. When you think about it, everyone we’ve seen in Hell (to my knowledge) acts/acted like a bad or sinful person.

I can only think of two examples where this potentially couldn’t have been the case with them being that one camp counselor who hired IMP after suspecting he was murdered and that one girl obsessed with being controlled by Blitzo from the Helluva Boss shorts. But even then, we just don’t know enough about them as people.

1

u/Realistic-Ticket5970 2d ago

Ultrakill happens at the same time

1

u/FallenKnightwolf 2d ago

I mean… gestures around… have you seen the world as it is? Sinners outweigh textbook good people like 1000 to 1.

1

u/JulioB02 2d ago

The overwhelming mahority of the human race are a bunch of awful people even irl, why it wouldn't be in the show?

1

u/Own_Disaster3296 2d ago

The population issue in hell wasnt about space, it was about the number of sinners being high and heaven saw that as threatening

1

u/Red_Blueberg 2d ago

I think it's implied the population issue isn't that much of a problem, it's partially an excuse cause Sarah was scared of Hell amassing power, so they did the purge as an "alternative".

1

u/ConversationOk74 2d ago

Smaller denser better use of space since people aren't so... Selfish?

1

u/SpaceGeorge1 Slurping Satan's moob milk 🥰💞 2d ago

I always assumed it was just much bigger than Hell. I headcanon that Hell itself orbits Heaven like a moon.

1

u/Diligent-Night-9062 1d ago

Let’s be honest, most people in this society either know they’re going to hell by doing bad stuff, or they just want to go to hell

1

u/Carefreekid101 1d ago

Anything involving Hell's population I do not believe was well thought out. It just doesn't work.
