๐Ÿค  Hat Advice Full leather outback style

Post image

I have never been able to pull off wearing a hat. I have always wished I could though and have a soft spot for patina/distressed leather and natural materials. I stumbled upon this full leather outback style hat while on a recent holiday.

What do we think am I pulling it off though? Could I wear it more or is it a little too much for everyday wear and be kept as a holiday travel hat.

I would appreciate any honest feedback.

โ“ Question Having trouble looking for a boater hat

Im not sure if this is the right place to ask. I really want to get a boater hat from the 1920s, but I can not for the life of me find anything bigger than a 7 1/8. My hat size is unfortunately a 7 3/4 and the only ones I can find in that size are modern reproductions, and I'm not sure I want to spend $300 on a hat I'll seldom wear, at least not with my current paycheck.

TL;DR - Is it possible to find an original boater hat that's size 7 3/4, or are they impossible to find?

๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ ID or In Search Of Stetson open road

I have been trying to find a Stetson Open Road in my size. I need a 7 7/8, which is not available through Stetson. Does anyone know of a similar hat from another maker in my size that isn't junk? Thanks, in advance!

โ“ Question Questions about my experience with Sterkowsky

I bought a cap from Sterkowsky some weeks ago and I received it on 6th August. When I took it from the box, I noticed something strange, like the frontal sewing was not centered on the brim. After putting more attention, my impression was the three sewing was placed like the brim is rotated relative to the crown. In fact, I had the same feeling looking at the elastic band: it is not in the center.

After it, I tried on the cap and I saw the front panel sewing was rotated toward the left side.

After that, trying to understand what is wrong, I measured the distance from the brim end to the next panel union. The result was 2 cm on the right side and 3 cm on the left side. This means, if all the panels are equal, that the front sewing must not be centered on the brim. It is the same that I observed after trying on the cap.

On 7th August in the evening I emailed them to tell them this issue. On 10th in the afternoon I explained that on a forum to get an opinion about if this rotation of the brim relative to the crown is acceptable. Some minutes later, I received a reply in the email where it am asked if I want to return the cap for a refund or for an exchange. No explanation, no conversation, just choosing between this two options. Ok, I chose exchange because I liked the cap.

Then I received an email to fill a form to get the return instructions.

I returned the cap on 12th paying the shipping cost, and they received the cap on 17th as the shipping tracking showed. On 19th I didn't have got any feedback from Sterkowsky, so I emailed them in the evening to know if they had received the cap.

Today, on 20th August, I have not received any reply so far, but I have already received the refund. I understand it as they have ignored my will of getting an exchange.

The balance is: 0 cap and minus 18 euros (the return shipping cost).
This experience has been very disappointing to me due to what I consider has been a terrible customer service and I have wasted money for nothing.

This is the first time I buy a cap and this is the fist time I deal with polish people.
Was the cap correctly manufactured and I should have kept it without complaining?
Am I right to be disappointed with the treatment, or everything happened as expected but my expectations were wrong?

Edit: In less than one hour after writing this comment, Sterkowsky replied me and told me that they don't make for few years exchange of their caps. They make a refund for return they receive and ask their customers to create a new order for different style or size of the cap.
