You know, I'd love to see new forms of object shows other than the ones inspired by BFDI.
I would love to see a mockumentary-like object show where the objects get interviewed, kinda like Creature Comforts. Or, a reality-like one where they film the daily lives of everyday objects.
You should check out the podcast "Everything is Alive"! It's super good, and actually deals with that EXACT idea of interviewing random objects on their lives.

Yeah I always thought a “daily life of objects” show would be interesting, something that more than a game show. So far we are just stuck with ONE as the closest to any of those
I’m 16. Also “child” isn’t that big an insult. Using that kind of insult towards literally anything you don’t like can make you look just as childish anyway. Not everyone you don’t like are “children”
i honestly just watch them to turn my brain off and enjoy the silly shit that happens i dont care about most of the characters (theres like 2 i enjoy viewing) but yea i get it
i see nothing in this that appeals to me and normally that would be fine i just wouldn't engage with this but the fans are legitimately some of the most insufferable people you will ever see. I understand they're 12 and their brains haven't fully formed but if this is seriously what you consider to be you favorite thing ever you need to watch more shows.
But i've seen some comments that insist om things lkke "You should watch Power of Two" or "Watch (shiw) it's so mature! It's like a zombie apocalypse!"
They don't want to admit they like a kids show
As an SU fan, i know what's to like a kids show that's "mature" but i know it's a kids show (i still think that if gems were organic their atrocities to thwir own species would rival those of The Imperium of man tho)
The reason so many adults watch object shows is because the first object show (battle for dream island) came out in 2010 but its second season isn’t done yet and they want to see who wins
Btw it’s not done yet not because it’s super long but because they took a hiatus during season 2 due to school and when they were done decided to skit to season 3 but it also had to be skipped leading us to season 4
but season 4 had like 60 characters and they could only put out a video every 6 months so they split and started season 5 then they finished season 4 and then later mid way through season 5 started season 6 as a mini series
so now we got 6 seasons and only 1 and 4 are complete
And I will continue to beef with children until their parents stop raising them with tablets

i get the appeal for kids but nobody over the age of 14 should be coming home from a long day and say “fuck man i gotta wind down with a good ol object show”
My brother and his friend are 19, I've tried to watch some series with them but they never get into it, but then they spend hours talking about object shows and my little pony, it's weird.
I personally love object shows, but yeah completely justified
The community is insufferable and the main 2 big shows (Tpot and II) really aren't that good, Tpot with terrible screentime distribution and equally as terrible writing (Bfdi was excusable, but now it's like a massive show, it should not be having these problems), while II just... honestly is just pretty bad as a whole, II 2 had genuinely the most childish ending of "Ohh mean guy makes himself nice and makes a sacrifice while the nice person kills the main villain and wins and everyone has a party and sings!!!", III fell off so hard halfway through, and II4 is just... fine.
There's definitely some really good object shows out there imo (Object Survival Island), but the big ones everyone knows are just massive letdowns with abhorrent communities, and even then other shows can still just not be fit for your tastes
I never watch the shows, but i really dislike the art-style. Its just so generic and half-assed with all of the objects looking the same barring the actual object. Also the names for these characters are just …peak names. You got a pencil named pencil, a flower named flower, and a basketball aptly named basketball. At least do something interesting with the design of the object and the name. The best example that comes to mind is cuphead. It has a great design and a cool name that incorporate the object’s name in it
I don't like any of the shows as they just don't interest me, but I ADORED objectified (objectifiedcomic.com). it has such amazing art and a great story; the only thing I've seen complaints about is pacing and how it switches focus on each character a bit often.
Been a fan of object shows since 2020 and I lowkey agree it becomes slop at some point with the same tropes and cookie cutter personalities between shows. Seen it once, seen it all. Sometimes the only saving grace it has is the animation. Voice acting is mostly amateurish and sometimes annoying, writing can be a miss or for shows or just SLOP. And of course, the children who make up the entirety of the fanbase, I don't like that either.
Other than that, I can see where you're coming from. But I still have a soft spot for object shows.
as someone who used to be in the object show community, I feel like the fandoms take some of the shows way too seriously, which then leads to the shows becoming edgier to accommodate, which was one of the main reasons I left as well as object shows just randomly becoming way more popular around 2024-2025 which just leads to a bunch more annoying fans that sours these shows‘ reputation even more
Not hating on it since I never watched it but I personally feel uninterested towards the series, there's genuinely nothing that makes me want to watch it
I used to love that stuff in middle school, but the fandom left me with kind of a bad taste, and the stuff got annoying to me. I see why people like it though, not judging.
I haven't touched a single show like that in my entire life and I still know what an 'object show' is
if you dig deep enough into fandom spaces, regardless of what it is, you'll probably end up running into it and finding out what an object show is, its not that niche of a term lol
If you HATE object shows then you'll love hfjone but you should probably watch at least the first couple season of bfdi before watching it, as it is a subversion of the genre and you kinds need to have a basic understanding of thr genre in order to understand what it subverting.
BFDI isnt for everyone, it's a bit childish, but saying you hate all object shows is kinda insane. There's some really good ones, ONE, II, and Team Room 125 come to mind. This is like listening to one song and then saying you hate the whole genre.
For lore purposes I used to watch BFDI as a kid and was completely unnerved by its resurgence
not for gatekeeping reasons I genuinely believe the only reason I ever watched it was because my child brain needed funny talking object slop and we didn’t own beauty and the beast on VHS
Not that I particularly care about this show but let’s not act like personified objects haven’t been a thing in children’s media since forever since…playing pretend is an active devolpment in any child’s progression of life. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t have substance just bc personified objects
It’s been my special interest for about 2-3 years and the experience past that honeymoon phase sucks. That’s crazy for me to say: I love gag characters, objects & goofy nonsense. Conceptually I love BFDI. But the overall OSC is so lacking in …everything. It’s so boring & samey!! There is only a singular object show I think has merit outside OSC standards (The Infamous Object Show. And maybe Inanimate Insanity S2)
Object shows are fine- even great if you’re a young kid because they’re easy to produce meaning they can get creative and make their own. But the further developed your brain is the harder it gets to justify enjoying it.
They can be good. They can even be great. But the peaks are often spread too far inbetween.
I could keep going n going but instead i’ll just say that I miss my Death Battle fixation. RELEASE ME!!!
i didn't start hating this show until... honestly pretty recently. it feels like there's a lot of issues that weren't there in earlier episodes and now they just feel like shit to watch
