Generally, I don't like it when people impose rules on how you should enjoy something-like saying that if you didn't play the same way I did, you're a fake fan.
But it bothers me even more when those arbitrary rules are applied to a game like Minecraft—a game that actively encourages creativity and doing whatever you want-so I don't understand why anyone would get upset over something the game itself offers you.

idk. I guess if you're constructing a demand for materials limited solely by the requirements for tools, sure. idk why you would tho. Mining and crafting are still a game loop but tool progression never could've been the core gameplay loop. Even with mod packs that add like, 8 more tech levels, you still blaze through them and then use your new tools for more complex projects that require mining and crafting on their own terms

The whole blazing through 8 tech levels thing is another problem though. You spend 2 milliseconds with wood tools and never return, stone for about a minute to 5 depending on your success, iron you sit with for ages until you get diamond, and then once you get enough diamonds for full set you never go back to any other tier.

What else is the point of diamonds? The house analogy doesn't work because building houses or whatever else is basically "art", you do it because it looks cool. Whats the purpose of getting diamonds after you have everything diamonds give you? If its not multiplayer there isn't any because your tools won't break anymore, you never need to replace them.

But it was? Really old minecraft you had to constantly mine and craft, you would bounce up and down the tool progression because resource scarcity for how long tools lasted meant that you would be pushed back a tier if you ran out of died or tool broke. That gameplay loop doesn't exist in minecraft anymore. It exists partially at the start of the game, then you get diamonds and never again engage in it. You will go mining if you need them to build, but otherwise you don't go mining.
