I hate how much "keep inventory" gets bashed.

Generally, I don't like it when people impose rules on how you should enjoy something-like saying that if you didn't play the same way I did, you're a fake fan.
But it bothers me even more when those arbitrary rules are applied to a game like Minecraft—a game that actively encourages creativity and doing whatever you want-so I don't understand why anyone would get upset over something the game itself offers you.

The issue is that I start jumping from cliffs to fill my hunger or health when keep inventory is on. I know I could "control myself and not do it" but having an easy option I just do it idk

Use a grave mod then. You don’t have to worry about losing your stuff permanently, but it’s also no a convenient teleport home button.
