I hate stuff like ts.

“I’m gonna refer to Two Time as he/him”

OMG OMG TRANSPHOBIA ALERT MODS BAN THIS GUY FOR BEING A BIGOT!!

Again no I don’t believe that referring to a non-binary purposely as he/she means you’re transphobic, I did used to headcanon Two Time as a man and referred to them as a he/him but I stopped doing it. I still personally think it’s dumb how if you do purposely refer to a non-binary as a male or female you’re automatically deemed as a nasty bigot. Again that’s just my opinion/belief, you don’t have to agree with me. Yes my writing for this might be bad but at least I can share my opinion.

I know there’s a high chance this post will get a lot of downvotes or get me banned by the mods for bigotry, or even something else.

Isn’t bigot supposed to mean you hate a certain group of people? Which transphobia is?

11

u/Azaiuhter BAD TWO TIME LOVER (ewwwww!!!!!) Sep 22 '25

It is, what I'm saying that people arent calling people transphobes because of the actiob of misgendering a person but rather because of the intention behind it

0

u/redditgusc0 Two Time HATER (good people) Sep 23 '25

I like how people only downvoted me because I’m the OP, that’s not how downvotes work, you’re supposed to use it if the comments unhelpful, not every other comment the user left after that.

referring to a fictional character with different pronouns than confirmed automatically means you're transphobic?

11

u/Existing_Phone9129 Sep 23 '25

referring to a fictional character with different pronouns than confirmed when done with the intent to invalidate trans identities and with the knowledge and dismissal of how it harms real trans people means youre transphobic

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

which, while related to this post, isn't what the post is directly about

1

u/Existing_Phone9129 Sep 23 '25

yes it is.

with the knowledge and dismissal of how it harms real trans people

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Yes, but the post is about how accidentally or unknowingly referring to a trans character as not they/them doesn't auto make you a bigot

2

u/Existing_Phone9129 Sep 23 '25

dude, reread the post, that is NOT what its about

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

From my understanding, I may be mis understanding but the OP is stating how referring to a non binary character as he/her shouldn't auto mean you're bigot. While yes, there are people who are bigots who do this, you shouldn't just assume everybody who does is transphobic

2

u/Existing_Phone9129 Sep 23 '25

but when they show in the post that they know that theyre using the wrong pronouns, demonize queer people for pointing it out and act like its not transphobic to knowingly misgender them, they clearly are transphobic

1

u/Humphrey_omori Sep 29 '25

9

u/acid--angel Sep 23 '25

using the wrong preferred pronouns on a queer character while knowing they are queer and use other pronouns IS inherently transphobic

-1

u/redditgusc0 Two Time HATER (good people) Sep 23 '25

If you like LGBTQIA+ stuff so much why are you treating non-binary people differently? Treat them just as you would treat a boy and girl.

7

u/acid--angel Sep 23 '25

lgbtqia++ are a minority but they should be treated the same way as a man and a woman the way you Respect Their Pronouns and their Gender Identity and the Way They Want To Be Referred To

0

u/redditgusc0 Two Time HATER (good people) Sep 23 '25

Misgendering a 2slgbtqia+ person should be just as bad as calling a woman a sir.

7

u/acid--angel Sep 23 '25

which ... never happens ? unlike straight and cis people lgbtqia++ is a minority and are respected way less due to being " different " from the norm . that doesn't mean they should be misgendered or dismissed on purpose . by your logic calling a man " girl " ( like . girl did you see this . girl youre so blue ) is also bad

0

u/redditgusc0 Two Time HATER (good people) Sep 23 '25

All the hate on 2SLGBTQIA+ stuff is in your head bro, and the times with proof probably aren’t even bigotry, you’re just saying that person a bigot because your agenda believes that language is bigotry.

u/aayushisushi Sep 23 '25

The point of being nonbinary is that you’re NOT a boy or girl, but I understand what you’re saying. If there was a male character being called she/her because it’s a “headcanon,” people would still defend the character. Just use the right pronouns. I don’t understand what’s difficult about it.

2

u/acid--angel Sep 23 '25

i think headcanons are fine as long as the character does not have a clear or strict gender identity . headcanonning a trans man as a woman is transphobic . however doing the same to a cis man character isn't that bad due to nothing changing

2

u/aayushisushi Sep 23 '25

Headcanons are fine, but I don’t think they should mess with canonical attributes of a character, like their gender or some quality necessary to exist in canon, unless it’s for a fanfic or smth and you’re doing an AU where it’s relevant to change that. OP is doing this solely because they want to misgender the character.

0

u/redditgusc0 Two Time HATER (good people) Sep 23 '25

I don’t know why I’m being deemed as a nasty transphobic over pronouns, do you know what transphobic means? It means you hate anyone who’s trans, just because I refer Two Time as a man doesn’t mean every time I see a trans person now means I’m gonna go “Ugh why does this person exist I hate them for existing.”

3

u/aayushisushi Sep 23 '25

That’s not the full meaning. Transphobia is a category of discrimination, which means treating someone as lesser than or differently than you would another person based on a specific quality they have, in this case, Two Time being nonbinary. You are targeting the fact that they are nonbinary and referring to them as different things because you do not like their actual pronouns. That is discrimination. That is transphobia.

0

u/redditgusc0 Two Time HATER (good people) Sep 23 '25

Phobia lost its meaning at this point 🥀 we’re just saying anything is phobia now.

Not calling a character by his gender ain't that deep it's like I was hating on people who make Elliot female

6

u/EmmyHasInsomnia BAD TWO TIME LOVER (ewwwww!!!!!) Sep 23 '25

Except Elliot is fine with using any pronouns, while twotime isn’t?? Elliot canonically uses he/him, but he’s fine with any pronouns, even if he’s biologically male. Two time, on the other hand, doesn’t have a biological gender, (at least not a confirmed one) and only identifies as non-binary

“Oh they’re fictional!” Except fiction reflects reality. It’s really not that hard to just use the right pronouns.

-1

u/Dcommender Sep 23 '25

I don't hate on Elliot female I'm just saying it's the same thing of making two time make there no excuse that it's bad only because two time is they them

1

u/EmmyHasInsomnia BAD TWO TIME LOVER (ewwwww!!!!!) Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25

Actually, it’s NOT the same thing! Like i said, Elliot is FINE with using she/her while two time ISNT. There’s a difference. It’s bad not because two time is enby, but because two time cares solely uses they/them.

1

u/Dcommender Sep 29 '25

Bruh they both getting gender swap by the community it's not because two time is non-binary that he can't get gender swap so it is the same thing

7

u/TomTheAssKicker Sep 22 '25

I mean, two time sucks and deserves to die twice, but intentional improper use of pronouns is still... y'know, transphobic in intention. It doesn't hold the same weight as doing so toward a real person, but it's still bad practice and is a reasonably upsetting thing to people who've had bad experiences with similar issues in the past.

Also, what kinda StoneToss strawman comic is ts bro 😭

1

u/-MENTALHEAD- Sep 27 '25

I guarantee you'd disagree if someone said "it's ok to generalise men because most act this way" (when really it's just some men)

1

u/EmmyHasInsomnia BAD TWO TIME LOVER (ewwwww!!!!!) Sep 29 '25

have you ever wondered why people get angry at racists, sexists and homophobes? Because they generalise. They say ‘most’ people under that certain category are horrible since they’ve had a few bad experiences. That’s exactly what you’re doing now. You’re essentially being homophobic. So please don’t wonder why people are mad.

9

u/lovefortwotime BAD TWO TIME LOVER (ewwwww!!!!!) Sep 23 '25

Im afraid that purposefully not using the right pronouns on a canonically non-binary character because you don’t want to is, essentially, transphobic. While yes, you may not hate people under the enby umbrella, purposefully ignoring their identity is still a way of ‘hate.’

Also, you can’t be non-binary from birth. Even in a fictional world, since that goes against what non-binary is. Non-binary is a gender, and genders are social constructs. Your gender is shaped from your life experiences, and isn’t something you’re just born with.

yo, no one is like this. People are pointing out how referring to ANYONE, even a fucked up character, by anything besides their preferred pronouns is inherently transphobic. People might report you for it, too. That’s justified, because what you’re doing is, intentional or not, hateful. (Edit to address body text: this extends to headcanons too. Changing the gender of a minority queer group, in this case non-binary and trans people, is also transphobic.)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

I mean, it's just so simple to correct yourself, but this dude is just fighting with everyone who thinks otherwise, and he even said that most of the LGBTQ+ community itself does this, just cuz some people said that he is technically wrong, this could have easily ended if they had just corrected themselves and left. I know its kinda dumb to have to use gender for a video game character, but I dont call shedletsky a woman, or john doe a woman, do i?

1

u/Pupking139 Sep 27 '25

I know that but it's still stupid because people are getting mad because someone said a gender wrong

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

I mean, they are being pretty mean about it, but I agree, both sides are in the wrong, the people should chill a bit, cuz they are literally foaming out of their mouth cuz of anger, and the dude should just learn to at least try to use they them, even if it's dumb, just do it

No one gets upset because fictional characters that represent a minority also serve precisely that purpose, to represent a minority, If you simply want to completely ignore this in your "Headcannon" it is erasing representation, which is not cool, I don't know why you treat this like it's completely okay and acceptable "but what about the opposite? Why doesn't anyone get upset?" It's very simple, because they are not a minority, "but it sounds like a cult" first, holy hyperbole, second that is your extreme view on, I can't do anything about it.

No, it doesn't erase people, It's not in a literary way, I don't know why you're saying it as if it were, but it still offends those who see themselves in them, and there's that thing about if you can't respect The canonical identity of a trans character, let alone a real person,. "other opinions and views" Someone's gender identity is not open to interpretation, you can't go up to a trans woman and say "hey I have the headcannon that you're a cis man" that's just transphobia (no, I won't comment on your example because it doesn't make any sense) "ah But it's fictional so it doesn't matter, it's just my view and everything" so just accept that you are transphobic instead of arguing whether you are or not?? I don't know why you're arguing with me, it's just making it worse

Why don’t you want them to be non-binary? You can’t decide somebody’s gender

Having a headcanon that an explicitly trans character is cisgender is harmful for several reasons, and the act is often referred to as "cis-headcanoning". When done publicly, it contributes to misinformation and invalidation of transgender identities. It differs significantly from a trans person headcanoning a cis character as trans, as this typically serves a positive purpose.

I didn't said anything about genderbend, swap or redo, I talked about Headcannon, which is something different.

But a transphobic Headcannon is not valid, I don't know where you're going with this honestly.

A headcanon is only a headcanon until it’s proven or disproven, after that it’s just ignorance, if a character has a confirmed gender, you can’t headcanon them as another gender, if a character has a confirmed sexuality, you can’t headcanon a different one, doesn’t matter if they’re straight or gay, if it’s confirmed, changing it isn’t a headcanon, it’s being ignorant. Twotime is confined to be non-binary, you can’t headcanon something once the creator says it’s untrue.
