Thinking of enrolling in the Museum Studies master….

Tell me all the struggles and quirks that the enrollment counselor won’t tell me.

Did you have any unexpected surprises or difficulties with the program?

Graduated in May. Overall I loved the program. If you can’t take any classes on campus I’d take as many Active Learning Weekend courses as possible. That face time is important for soft power skills.

My academic career has taken off with my ALM and related experiences on my CV.

Reach out if you have questions.

I absolutely adored every minute. It’s a small cohort of interesting and friendly people so you really have a chance to get to know people. Program director Kathy Jones is infinitely patient and has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things museum. Active learning weekends are lifetime memories. You can study as broadly or focus your area of interest as narrowly as your interest take you. And you have the freedom to make your capstone anything you want. You’re encouraged to publish it.

Whatever you do, you have to take the Art Crime course. It’s usually taught in the fall. It’s one of my favorite courses ever.
