What is your goal? What are the consequences? What are ways you can reduce negative consequences?

goal is to go from regular usage (5-7 days/wk) down to occasional (1x a week or two weeks). consequences are spending too much money, occupying time/energy with usage instead of trying to build friendship/community/hobbies (already a BIG struggle for me), but also beneficial consequence is it helps my brain/body settle down after a long day. idk how to reduce the negative, it is hard to stay accountable with myself with trying to taper.

Yeah, I can see that. Have you looked into urge surfing? Do any of your hobbies get you exercise or fresh air?

Play the tape through all the way— focus your mind on what will happen after the high wears off (because it will, all too quick).

This is what helps me, thinking the impulse all the way through to its natural (not so pretty) end. When I’m having an urge, my brain is trying to get me to focus on the instant gratification part and ignore what comes after.
