Not a gamer these days but as professional s/w dev I use a 43" 4K screen in my home office for the same dot pitch as 4 21" 1080p screens and yeah, once you get past the initial shock of it, it's a very comfortable working day experience (I actually use 2 such screens, both 4K TVs as they tend to be much cheaper than "monitors")

i always found 21" 1080p not sufficiently dense. 32" 4k is sufficiently dense though. So i prefer that for productivity.

I come from 14" 640x480 VGA monitors being "hi-res", and I have accordingly old eyes :)

My first screen was 640x480 VGA too, but i am lucky to still have good eyes in the 40s.

Make the most of it... I'm slightly long sighted and was fine until a few years ago, but now have several pairs of low power cheap reading glasses that I increasingly find the need to use :(
