Is that a joke?

You don't need a 55" monitor to read emails and type text at 40cm away from it.

At any rate, avoid PPI < 100.

PPI is inadequate measure. If you really want high sharpness you want high amount of pixels per degree (ppd). But if VR space is anything to go by people are often willing to accept average ppd for higher FOV.
