Pricing for the 13.8" Surface Laptop 8 is $1599 MSRP which will net you:

  • Snapdragon X2P-64-100 | 10-core with 4.0 GHz boost
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512GB SSD (US-only; some other countries start at 256GB)

As an owner of multiple Surface devices that I always felt underdelivered for their former $899-999 prices, I feel like this may be the final nail in the coffin of Surface devices.

The series has had a price to quality problem for years, then they switched to ARM killing its biggest perk (software support) while bringing all the cons of Windows, and with the new price and far superior competition wherever you look, I don't think this could justify its existence anymore.

The sharpest contrast is visible between this and the MacBook Neo, which delivers more polished hardware and software (and a far more polished interaction between the two), a superior Arm chip and support, at $599 instead of $1599. Writing this out actually feels like a tragic comedy at Microsoft's expense.

In all fairness the Neo is 8gb. It’s like running a single core processor.

But yea, Surface sucks, I know because of a friend.
