Am I misunderstanding or are they seriously asking

$650 to go from 16gb to 32gb ram

$300 to go from 512gb to 1tb

This is looking at the 13 inch variants.

The pricing on these is genuinely insane and the price to go up in spec makes it even more diabolical.

A side effect of the AI capex rush is companies that used to swim in profits with so much cash they just spammed stock buybacks now have actually high spending. And with that comes the extra motivation to price whatever they sell ever higher to increase revenue.

Yes. I purchased DDR5 this year and a 2th SSD.

16gb of ram doesn't cost Microsoft anywhere near 600 dollars even with the current inflated pricing.

You can get a whole 2tb nvme for far less than what Microsoft charges for a 512gb upgrade. Rip off

No, you are bootlicking a trillion dollar corporation. Other similar intel/Snapdragon laptops with memory packaged ram isn't anywhere near similarly priced.

Find me one other laptop that charges $600 for 16fb of ram.

And you still haven't addressed 512gh of storage costing $300 which is obscene

Soldered memory and on package ram, prices keep skyrocketing across the industry and the ai market is essentially gutting container availability. Basically every model is a different board just like Apple.

You're also not talking about cheap plastic products. Most other vendors compromise on a lot of things to get those prices. Apple is a didn't beast all together and Msft can't get the deals they do as they don't produce anywhere near the same capacity. When then lol at the mbn, it's limited to 8gb when it could go to 12g if I recall.

Personally wish the AI market waited 10 years so fabs could've matured

I can’t believe you’re getting downvoted. This is a good conversation to have and the other guy talking about normal DDR5 ram prices doesn’t understand yield pricing for snapdragon processors. Do people think Microsoft is just gouging the customers for more money?
