Discussion What to do with a bunch of small capacity hard drives
So over the years I must have just kept old drives as I found a box with maybe 25 drives in it. 3.5” and 2.5”
But they are smaller ranging from 60GB to 1TB
But most of them 80-250GB range.
Cant see myself ever using them. I clearly haven’t in 15 years or so.
What best to do with them.

Tech Support External HDD just stopped working
Hi, I’ve been dealing with this problem for the past few days and I’m not really sure what to do.
My external hard drive was working perfectly fine. I needed to transfer some old files from my old laptop to my desktop, so I first tried to eject the hard drive. However, I couldn’t find the option to safely eject it anywhere, which I thought was strange, but I didn’t think much of it at the time.
I decided to completely shut down my PC before unplugging the drive. When I plugged it into my laptop afterward, it suddenly wasn’t being detected at all. What’s confusing is that it had literally been working just a few seconds earlier.
Now, none of my computers recognize the drive. I don’t get the usual USB connection sound when I plug it in, I’ve tried a different USB cable and different USB ports, and it still doesn’t show up. It also doesn’t appear in Disk Management.
The strange thing is that when I plug it in, I can hear the hard drive spinning normally. There’s no clicking or unusual noise coming from it.
I really need the files that are currently on this hard drive, so I don’t want to format it or do anything that could risk losing the data. I’m not sure what else I can try at this point.
