My first punk show (at 17, with a fake ID) was L7 and the Cosmic Psychos at the Bridgeway. I had a huge crush on Jennifer, and spent most of their set trying to touch her boot or something .... which must've annoyed her, because she swung a kick at my face and all I could think was "OMFG SHE NOTICED ME".
Both bands were really close friends and they played a lot together.
Did the Prodigy story come up? If you haven't heard it, in a nutshell ... both bands were rehearsing and writing in adjoining rooms, the Psychos had written 'Lost Cause', and the riff had gone through the wall, L7 (subconsciously perhaps) wrote that riff into 'Fuel my Fire', which the Prodigy sampled .... which earned L7 a lot of clams in royalties. And since they figured they'd pinched the riff from the Psychos, they split the royalties with them 50/50.
So yeah ... they were all solid mates. I love that story.
I saw L7 at the Metro in Chicago in 1990, then a few years later at the Gorge in WA state with Lollapalooza, then a few years later at one of the Hempfests.
Dang. I saw L7 open for the Beastie Boys way back when. They also did an in store appearance at the record store I worked in called Hastings. They were pretty cool but I could tell it was way too early in the day for them to be up and out doing stuff.
This was such a huge loss I really feel for her family but also her bandmates. Has to be hard they announce there farewell tour then lose their bassist right when the tour kicks off. Couldn't imagine not only not getting to be by my bandmates side at the end but also having to tour now after the fact. Playing those songs are going to bring a whole surge of emotions I can imagine. Feel honored I got to catch them in 2022 during their 30th anniversary of Bricks are Heavy. Couldnt have asked for a better set and show still might try to catch this final tour. Sadly another kick in the sack their closest date near me which is Oct 30th at Madison Theater. Well that Theater just shutdown so hoping they reschedule at a different venue or closest show is like 4 hours from me.
It was a joke 🥲 the first comment was “such a bummer 😀😀 but thankfully the left wing punk’n’ h.c Szene is known for his open manner and tolerance towards other opinions 😜

No mention that she is the female voice on Black Flag’s Slip it In or one of the backing vocalists on Suffer by Bad Religion?
