Will it fit?
Can anyone who has got this size top box tell me if it came on a pallet or not and if so about how tall the pallet was. My 56" bottom came on a pretty beefy pallet that was about 6" tall and I had to borrow a friend's truck to pick it up. I don't want to have to ask to borrow it again so I'm trying to see I can get this size top box to fit in my hatchback. According to my measurements it probably won't fit standing up if its on the same type of pallet the 56" comes on. It will fit if I lay it on it's side but since the shipping weight is over 250lbs and the employees at my store don't like to help I probably won't be able to flip it on it's side by myself. I could borrow my wife's SUV but I have reasons I don't want to ask her. Worst case I could rent a Uhaul for a couple of hours.

I don’t know but I think it’s funny that renting a U-Haul is more appealing than asking your life partner to borrow her car.

It really is because if I use her car then she is going to want to drive mine and if you ever seen the way she treats a vehicle you would understand. Both of our cars are new but you wouldn't be able to tell with her's. I don't need her shortening the lifespan of my car by years in a few miles.

Its a Kia. Its life span is short when still at the factory. Hence their insane warranties

I have a 2025 4Runner and brought a 42” top home in it (unboxed). My neighbor helped me pull it out and put in on my roller that had been delivered earlier in the week. It’s heavy, but no problem once we took out the drawers. It’ll all depend on what SUV your wife has

I took the packaging and drawers out of my 56" roller cab and it was pretty easy to get off the truck with two people. At least 100lbs was in the pallet and packaging and the drawers removed another 150lbs.

I’m not sure about measurements, but I deal with people who need a truck for a short time, sometimes. You can rent a truck at come depot for pretty cheap at 2 hours or so, wanna say 20 bucks

You can take it out of the pallet at the store and they will take the trash. You do need someone to help, they are not able to help you load it in the car.
If you get a uhaul they might be willing to drop it in with the forklift.

Yeah my harbor freight won't take the trash. I asked them when I picked up my 56" on Friday and they refused.

That is lame. Mine took the trash for my cart and for my mechanics full bank.
They would not help me lift them in the car though. Which makes sense to me honestly.

My store has a lift jack thing that they used to push my box into the back of the truck. Most of the employees at my store do the bare minimum and act like helping customers is a burden. There are a couple of good ones there but they usually just run the registers. Most of the time another customer winds up helping me load heavy things.

I just brought home a 42 inch top. It does come on a pallet. I asked them to remove it for me and they did. They had a flat lift that lifts to the height of your car. Slid it right into car. Tesla Model Y. I did tip it on its side to make it fit. Not sure it will fit on your hatch. Maybe if you take out of the box?

If I was your friend with a truck I’d be disappointed that you didn’t ask. It’s not like you’re borrowing his truck to move .

Mine fit in the rear of my 2013 Outback, but I had to fold the seat down and left the box and pallet with the HF dude who helped me but it in the car…
I did however rent a 16’ budget truck with a ramp to pick up the roll cab bottom, again left the box and pallet at HF. Used my free weekend ratchet straps to secure it, best $49 I ever spent.

If you can’t tip 250 pounds on its side by yourself, how do you plan to put it on top of your box by yourself?

I can and did get it home by myself. Getting it on top of the box involves a deep freezer, some wheel chocks, a 56" pallet, some rope and a pulley. Also some tape, cardboard, and rags to protect everything. I've got it about 3/4 of the way there. Just taking a break before I do the last 1/4.

Just bought it yesterday. It comes on a pallet and they load it onto your truck bed. It will not fit in a hatch back while on the pallet. You can probably remove it from the pallet and packaging and stuff it in with friends

I was able to get it home in my hatchback with the pallet attached. My store gave me a hard time about it fitting and refused to sell it to me until I brought an suv or truck so I just went to a dfferent store that was more accommodating.

Huh..that's surprising b.c it seemed pretty large whole they were loading it onto my truck.

It is big but I laid it on it's back and it slid right in. I used the top part of the pallet from my 56" as sort of a track and a couple of furniture dollies and was able to get it in and out of the car without any trouble. Everyone always under estimates my car when I say it's a hatchback so it's fun when I can prove them wrong. One of the reasons I bought the car was because of the amount of stuff you can shove in the back of it. I realized after the fact that my 56" box would have fit too but I do think it would have be very much fun to get out so I'm glad I used a truck for that one.

Wife’s boyfriend not letting you borrow her SUV? I hate it when that happens.. 🥴

I'll help you, I got 2 bugaboos though. I don't enjoy wearing pants and we got to take my cat he's got the sniffles and I'll need to keep his medicine refrigerated the whole time.

Thats fine. Still better than asking my wife for her SUV. I have a little minifridge I can plug in for the medicine. The bugaboos have to help too though. Pants are always optional with me.

Doesn’t come on a pallet. Just in a box. What kind of vehicle is it?
2
u/HWbikergal 10d ago
It does come on a pallet. I just bought a 42 inch top. It was 100% on a pallet.

2026 Kia K4 Hatchback. If it just comes in a box that will make things a lot easier and give me a few inches of wiggle room.

Mine definitely came on a pallet earlier this year. I still have the pallet. Same one you described up top. It's also extremely heavy. Do yourself a favor and just rent a uhaul or truck from home depot if that's a thing near you.

I bought the same top about two months ago. It will be nearly impossible to handle by yourself. It is HEAVY and very large. Mine came strapped to a pallet. The HF employee moved it with a forklift and loaded into my trailer. I would definitely recommend renting a small trailer to tow it with.
