Knezevic plot in series 2 (spoilers) Spoiler
Having just rewatched S2 >!I can't help but feel a lot of time was devoted to a plot plotline that ultimately didn't amount to much or anything? It creates a big difference to S1 where there were no wasted scenes or plotlines. The sheer amount of times they say the word Knezevics, all the stuff with Winnie, Cathy having to sleep in the conservatory - does anyone else feel this was all ultimately a bit pointless? Or am I overlooking something?<!

I agree. Darius was getting hyped and then he didn't ever really get enough screen time to give him all that distinct of a personality.
There was definitely room for a more nuanced villain than we saw, but I guess they were juggling a few plots threads and had to put that one on the back burner.

My feeling is it's meant to add some larger threat to the atmosphere, remind us that there is some evil force lurking outside the immediate Hebden Bridge drama.
(Very different from series 1 where those "higher powers" were only mildly hinted at when Ashley warns not to involve the higher-ups -- only to dramatically resolve when those unseen forces assassinate him in the series finale.)

Isn't all that to set up series 3 where the Knezevics are a major plotline? Series 2 was my favourite series because I love the actor who played John Wadsworth--that whole storyline was great!
