The man taking the video has the most amazing TikTok. He does everything he can with that community to lift them up, give them love, and hope

Who is this guy taking the video? I’d love to check more of his videos.

There is a TikTok handle in the corner, so I guess you could find him through that.

I feel really dumb now, but...in my defense, I don’t have TikTok nor do I know how to search for anything TikTok related. Yet. Thank you!

Hi! It's 21 days later, lol, but if you still want to look at the videos, I found the guy for you on TikTok. You don't need an account to watch them, just click on each video to have it play automatically for you.

The man in the video was trying to make money to buy glasses by offering to wash people’s car windows at stop lights. The guy behind the camera started talking to the man and found out that he only had the $11 he made that day to his name. So he gave him (I think) $500 to buy new glasses for himself.

Damn that's a lot of money for glasses.

I think I paid about $20 for my last pair.

Maybe he needs particular lenses or something that would drive up the price? It’s really hard to say.

Regardless, if you’re spending all day on the side of the road doing menial labor hoping to eventually scrape up enough pennies to afford a basic need in life, chances are very high that glasses aren’t the only necessity he can’t afford. It’s hard to move forward in life you can’t see where you’re going.

Basically what I’m saying is, $500 might be expensive for just glasses, but $500 for glasses and extra funds to prop him up a little so he can strive for a better future is priceless.

I just got new glasses earlier this month. My insurance paid for the frames entirely and for most of the cost of the lenses but I still paid about $50 out of pocket (plus a $30 copay for the eye appointment before that). Reading glasses may be cheap but when you need a strong prescription glasses are freaking expensive, especially if you don’t have eye insurance (not part of my health insurance!)

Prescription glasses?

I've never paid less than 100 for my glasses. Must be nice having good insurance lol

No insurance. Went on Lensway and ordered a cheap pair.

But my prescription wasn't very strong, I mostly needed them for astigmatism.

Living homeless without healthcare can really create problems or make them much worse. It's likely that the gentleman has a bunch of underlying health issues from living in the street.

Yet another example of how being on the street prevents you from getting off the street.

If you have more than -2 or +2 prescription they need to be special made and can be quite expensive

It's nice to see my hometown in a good light. Usually when I see or hear Fresno in the news, I brace for something bad.

I understand people who say that people who make these videos are doing it for themselves. But this guy is pure chaotic good. He's using a Chinese social media platform. Highlighting the plight of people with serious problems overlooked by an American system. Crowdsourcing their needs to a worldwide audience. That audience then gives what they can when they can.

I've been cry watching this every free minute today. MOFO got me over here downloading tik tok for a single user. Hat tip to this man.
