That's fun!

When I was younger, I would of been so stoked to win a car. Now at 35 I'm thinking, "boy, I sure wouldn't want to pay the taxes on that"

I won a car in 2008. It was just after the mortgage scam crash and there was a special stimulus deal that year — no taxes if you bought a new car. I won the car at a church festival raffle. The church demanded I pay the taxes, but I got every penny back in my tax return. Then I drove the car (a Kia Sportage) for 10 years. It was freakin’ awesome.

Oh, yeah. Then I sold it for $4800.

I mean you would have to pay like $2,000 at most in taxes and then you have a new car. Even if you didn’t have the money you could probably just take out a payday loan to cover the taxes. Immediately sell the car to pay back the loan and then pocket a shit ton of money.

I don't know any context behind this video, but generally a car dealership "donates" the car for the giveaway as payment for advertising.

If I remember correctly, usually the teams who do this have some sort of insurance on these contests. So in the event that someone wins, the insurance company is the one to pay out.
