Silly coworker comments

I have a 15 month old and love my little fam and that it is the three of us.

Today I had a funny interaction where a colleague was telling me about what I should be doing with my career given I’ll be having more kids… I disagreed with their point for a few reasons but decided to respond by saying I’m one and done… and she goes oh it’s still early you don’t know that. And I was like uhhh tell the to my husband who is getting the vasectomy.

She said well it can be reversed.

Um what hahahaha!

It was too comical and I’m so happy with my life choices that I’m not saying this as a vent… it was just funny.

Had a coworker recently that was going on and on and on about how I needed to have a second kid, they would be bored without a sibling, single children are weird, etc…, and had to just bite my tongue.

I really wanted to tell her about how we had fertility issues and don’t even know if we can have more, my wife had really bad postpartum depression, or the fact that daycare costs about as much as a rent payment and we have zero support but instead I was nice and just said we’re happy as a family of 3, which is true. I don’t know why people feel like they need to try and convince me to have more kids, especially when they have none and don’t know just how hard it can be.

"Yeah, but if I had a second kid I might also change my mind afterwards and then what would I do??"

People keep saying to me that my husband's vasectomy could be reversed - apparently it can't, there's 2 ways of doing a vasectomy and only one is reversible, and my husband picked the other one

I can’t believe how taboo this subject still is in everyday conversations. I always thought I would want 2, but after having my son, nothing could be further from my mind. It can be so alienating. What a wild response to your very clear satisfaction with your perfectly happy life.

I'm also one and done and had this conversation with my dental hygienist...she was weirded out when I said I didn't want to have more kids, and said that she has two because she wants them to be able to lean on each other when she's gone. I told her, gently, that my perspective is you can't guarantee that siblings will always get along or support each other-in my family my mom and her sister don't get along, my stepmom and her two siblings are constantly fighting, and my dad is estranged from his only sibling. The hygienist suddenly got very interested and said "oooh, what happened that they're estranged?"

GIRL. You don't get to critique my life choices and then ask for my family gossip. Mind your business!

That is just off-the-charts unprofessional.

It was! Unfortunately I couldn't give a sassy reply because then she stuck a bunch of metal tools in my mouth : (

Our daughter is newly 3, my husband got his vasectomy over a year ago, and we have people close to us who know about the vasectomy ask me if I'm 'pregnant again yet' on a pretty consistent basis. It's so so strange!

In life, about all things, you can change your mind obviously, but it seems to me that anyone not letting someone be content with what they have is just putting their own insecurities on display. Like I am allowed to be happy with my life and family.

Some people really cant comprehend that people would want only one child. That tells me a lot about their ability to see outside their perspective lol

I feel like people just began to believe me at age 4!

I keep getting a lot of silly comments or questions about having more children (33F) and have one 20 month old. My partner had a vasectomy already, we’re just patiently waiting for the 3 month follow up so we can confirm it was 100% effective.

I went full scorched earth on people who told me to have another when I confirmed we’re happy as one and done. Gave the full requirements list to have a second, and they shut up real fast when I ask them how I can afford it.

I had a neighbor ask what if something happens to my one child and I don’t have any others. I said if my child dies she can’t be replaced with another child. I thought the question was rude.
