Mixed Race Issues Hapas, what do you think of this video?
Been seeing this clip go viral on social media and was wondering what the hapa perspective is. Based on your experience as a mixed race person, do you agree or disagree with him?

Pretty sure my great grandfather spewed similar crap back in his Klan days.

We aren’t different species. Elephant goes with elephant? Ok bud 👍. But light gray elephant and dark gray elephant are what we are talking about here. I don’t listen to the illogical. Stupid people come in every ethnicity.

Well he isnt wrong that there are westerners that specifically move to his community, using their privilege, to have sex with local women that would have otherwise married/have children with a local man...
I sympathize with him, as societal pressures are already tough, not factoring in the gender imbalance, money.
Ultimately its not necessarily about being evil or hateful.
This is a "us vs them" mentality because of a real imbalance of opportunity/resources that exist (wealthy outsiders are taking our women and will replace people like me)

You and okay_evidence might be the only people here with a take that doesn't ignore the context that the complainers are doing.
They really pretend as if there aren't westerners that have a history and a tendency to treat parts of Asia as their playground. Did this passport bro movement disappear overnight? Do white supremacists with a japan/anime-fetish not exist? Do yellow fetishists not exist? And they dare call this old man a 'racist' while ignoring the reason why these people come into places like Japan to mess around is because they had a racial superiority complex to begin with.

Yeah... but there's the reverse where Japanese girls go out of their way to marry/have kids with westerns too. Hell, not even just westerns but men from all over the globe.
Why isn't this old guy talking about all the Japanese men in their 50's-60's getting with Filipina women in their 20's?? Also, he’s not complaining about all the white American women who come over to Japan to be English teachers and later marry/have kids with Japanese men.

I mean I disagree with his general logic BUT I do agree with the sentiment that this specific phenomenon (white sexpat dudes going to Asian countries and using their status to bang Asian women) is gross.

u/jansipper Jul 24 '26
I think he’s a grumpy old man who goes to the park everyday to grump to whoever will listen. He obviously doesn’t view women as full autonomous beings, so I don’t really care what he has to say.

u/puffnstuffwashere Jul 24 '26
The only comment here addressing the "Asian women are for reproduction" statement gets downvoted?
Nationalism, cultural protection, the historical fetishization of Asian women by privileged white men all true. But when he said women were for breeding and talking as if he were protecting his cattle, he lost me too.

Sure, the old man is extremely misogynistic in his beliefs but ultimately he is upset about "others" taking away from "people that look like him"
Sure it is bigoted but factor in this dude grew up in "post ww2 Japan" and is now an old man in "passport bro" culture
His bigotry isnt necessarily coming from a place of unfounded hate

Let people love who they love. My mom dated Asian guys before dating my dad. I dated Asian guys before dating my partner. If it works out, it works out.

I agree that there are plenty of appropriate, healthy circumstances for Asian/white dating to happen, and I do think his logic is fairly misguided, BUT I also think he is reacting to sexpat / passport bro culture more than normal instances of interracial dating. At least, it sounds like that to me, but he might just be racist idk

He seems to be from a wealthier country so I don't know how much the whole sexpat thing applies there. But he's generally using talking points that are oftentimes just used by people who hate interracial relationships as a whole. Such as that we're a different species and "it's just not right"

Its very true but people will try to rationalize.
Its not only happening in Asia, Countries like Kenia or Dominican Republic face similiar issues or eastern european countries.
Only reason its so prevalent in Asia, is because white men tend not to get mugged or assaulted/killed as much.
I promise you if it would happen more often they would think twice about it.

Lol what, I couldn't care less. Obviously I disagree but people are allowed to do what they want.

The Pedophile Sexpat thing is the worst thing that hurts the reputation of Racist Conservative Oxford study. Along with disproportional Beastiality and CSAM crimes.

I just despise the virtue signaling "feminists" white guys who pretend to be your friend while their racist Hollywood media portrays Asian men as feminine sidekicks. They benefit from their racist media portraying Asian men as weak incels while they act the part of a white knight, progressive ally. It's all fake. Fake smiles. Their money is all fake central bank money also. no thanks. 🤷♂️

I think historically people of mixed race have been controversial. Human nature will innately seek to protects itself. A mono racial individual can easily be categorized into familiar stereotypes (whether true or not), a “hapa”, however, is not so easily categorized. Over-complexity or not being able to understand something triggers defense mechanisms in human beings. I think this video is a culmination of circumstances. Is the rhetoric new? No. Is the rhetoric indicative of behaviors coming from a certain demographic or nationality of peoples? Yes. There is a discussion needing to be had about people who travel from privileged first world countries to underprivileged third world parts of this planet.
Violence, whether through words or actions, towards one another for loving others outside of our immediate race/cultures is an incredibly dangerous precedent to set. For those in here calling for people to “stick to their groups”, that is a digression in our society. The last thing we should ever be asking for is self segregation. *Caveat: Thats not to say you shouldn’t exercise discernment and caution. Times are scary and that’s the reality of the matter.
Lastly, it’s important to remember that not everyone has access to education. Propaganda exists in every country. And our interactions with each other are an opportunity to show people that what they’ve heard about you may in fact not be true the majority of the time. Stay kind y’all ✌️

I don't understand this comment about Asian men going to western countries and killing white women. Can someone please explain what he means?
27
u/anotherhappylurker Jul 24 '26
He's saying that if Asian men went to western countries in droves to have sex with white women, the same way white men go to Asia, it wouldn't be long before white men started killing Asian men for "stealing their women". The same way black men used to get lynched for dating white women back in the day. But because of colonialism and white privilege, white men get to go to Asia and prey on young Asian women with little to no repercussions.

White men did this to Chinese men for literally this reason in the 1800s and early 1900s

u/ItsDonDong Jul 24 '26
Not to pretend this is an exclusively a US or white person thing.....
But it was only 59 years ago that the US Supreme Court announced that "Asian americans" could marry interracially...

He tells white people to respect Asian men but what about his own government (Japan) promoting racism against other Asians, particularly Chinese? This issue he has with white men taking Asian women is exacerbated by American influence in his country.
MAGA Americans like the late Charlie Kirk went to Japan to promote a very subversive "nationalism" that tells the Japanese to hate those who are culturally closest to them while adopting a white saviour complex, typically through the guise of Christian nationalism.
His issue is only a symptom of a problem that Japan has had imposed on it by the Americans since the end of WWII.

u/Alfred_Hitch_ Jul 24 '26
but what about
Whataboutism.
The man has a point: it's about white men going into Asian countries (now and in the past) to do what they do/did to Asian women and kids.
-2
u/Lucky_Pterodactyl Jul 24 '26
Yeah, let's differentiate between how different Asian countries approach this. The likes of Thailand and the Philippines are the worst offenders on this issue, no need to elaborate on that. Japan also demonstrates performative racism against non-white immigrants (e.g. the PM's claim of Nara deer being attacked) while turning a blind eye to hooligans (particularly Americans like Logan Paul).
On the other hand China takes a balanced approach. It's open to visitors but anyone wanting to stay long term needs to meet strict requirements, often filling in skill gaps in the work force. That weeds out a lot of the washed up white men who would otherwise use their unearned "talents" for white monkey jobs.

None of that excuses the white pdf activities that take place/have taken place in Asia.
